I bought a stock high km black FJ about 6 weeks ago. I assumed there would be some compromise but I totally support everything you have said. No squeaks. Fun to drive. Heaps of personality. Fuel consumption has been as low as in the 10s litres per 100 km.
@ btw I totally agree with an earlier comment you made about keeping them as stocky as possible. I’m new to 4wdriving but will work out what I really need. I suspect at this point any shortcomings will be the operator rather than machine. Also, my other drive is a 2017 SSV Redline and this is more fun to drive daily. My license will be safer anyway 😀
Ounce you,ve own one you will probably never sell it,its a great vehicle well made not that bad on fuel consumption as people make out, it is a 4.0 Lt witch has a heap of power for its size. Inside it is 50mm wider than the new gen ford ranger from side window to window.off road its probably the best 4x4 Toyota has ever built with value for money, it comes with so many features that are standard, unless you have been in one you or owned one , you just wouldn't know how good and capable they are .
Owned my FJ for 5+ years now, agree completely with your review the FJ is amazing and has never had an issue , whilst it is a little thirsty servicing has been a lot cheaper than the diesel Prado I used to own. Can’t imagine ever selling, mine is fairly heavily modified however the best cheap mod is a throttle controller, it just makes the engine even more responsive.😊
I hear that a lot regarding the servicing. The throttle controller would be crazy because the accelerator is so touchy. Do you find it makes this more sensitive?
When this car came out it was better than the prado so they stopped making them and returning today as the 250 prado same box shape back then same near vertical windscreen today
