Sure I believe react can do curl(API) but seem there is no better library like Python
you can simply check each API
1. Authentication
2. Any API that you want

So, if I have correctly understood, you write your code in your computer and through the API it gets implemented in your blog, it is Not that you directly on the source code of blogger that you add python code.

Mostly blogger template auto get first image from post as thumbnail.
You might consider to update your template logic
