Denzel Curry's "TA13OO": In-Depth Break Down Of Act 1, 2, 3 (HNHH Interview 2018)

- Denzel Curry has unveiled the third and final Act in his three-part album "TA13OO" with the "Dark" act arriving today. We were able to sit down with him for an in-depth interview to discuss each Act of the album, as well as pick out certain songs and lyrics to get even more insight as to what's going on in the strange, intriguing and intelligent mind of Denzel. We're including small snippets that highlight each section of the album below.
ACT I
"The first part, it was basically how I treated everything, you know with money coming in, I got all these females, with everything in life going smoothly, but it's only brief at that moment -- oh yeah, this money and everything is supposed to make you happy but it's not. I didn't grow up materialistic you know, that's what really spurred the Light part, because when I was very materialistic, that's what was driving me. That's when it goes into the Gray part - the Gray part shows the after affects of it, of just not caring. And that's how I was before, just not caring."
ACT 2
"Gray is just like the reality of things. That's why it's longer than the Black part and the Light part, it has five track instead of four, because the Gray part, it just shows like..Okay, you hear "Super Saiyan Superman" and I'm flexing, I'm flexing hard, after coming from "Sumo," I'm flexing and shit, and then you got "Switch It Up" which, in an instant, just switches up the whole mood of everything, and shows you how your true friends will literally pull a gun out on a you, to show you like, n*gga, I don't give a fuck who you is, I knew you since you was this tall, you ain't gunna do that, you ain't gunna try me in no way, I ain't yo little buddies or whatever. And then when you hear the second verse on "Switch It Up," the person or character realizes, when he's not high or not sedated, he realizes what's really going on around him. So it's like his wake up call, "Switch It Up" is like a wake up call of what's going around him. Or around me, per say, cause that was a true story."
ACT 3
"You gotta realize, when you in this game, do you at all times. If somebody try to tell you how to do you, it's not gunna look good to somebody else. The only thing you could do, is do you. If they try to tell you how to do you, "do it like this, do it like that," then you not in control of yourself, and you won't be happy. If I'm in control of myself at all times, and I can say how I feel or whatever, and you don't like it -- fuck you, suck my dick, I don't give a fuck, leave me alone -- that's how I felt writing that part [the Dark part] of the album."

No disrespect intended but I hope this interviewer uses this interview as a learning experience to really grow and improve her communication skills. Respect for Denzel for being so patient and kind.
Yeah lots of "like" and "umm"s but thats all part of the learning curve, you can clearly tell she is nervous about this, the more she does the better she will get at it. As you said, respect for Denzel's patience.
He's intellectually so far beyond the majority of rappers nowadays. So happy someone finally made a Rap album with a solid theme. It's been a while.
Old Bull Lee hasn’t really been a while, but I agree
It really hasn’t been that long
Idk about majority of rappers nowadays. The party "mumble" rappers, yes. But that's not majority imo.
It really hasn’t been a while but but this album is phenomenal
Sneaker Arsenal you guys should recommend some albums with themes of recent. Maybe I'm missing out
10/10. Album of the Year. Masterpiece
^
Daytona is still aoty
leo chavez debatable. It can go either way. KSG is a contender too
AstroWorld will be album of the year, mark my words.

Yo that’s so crazy at the end of black metal terrorist it fades out into static then at the start of the album it starts with static meaning that the cycle of light, grey, dark in life goes on and on
Johnnie Herlihy pls explain
Sleezy Dawg watch from 27:04 to 28:40
Thank you for that masterpiece Zeltron!
He’s a very interesting and smart person, I really love his personality and the way he described his album. I’m happy that I get to listen to his masterpiece.
I’m an old head and this is easily one of the best albums I can remember in the past few years. Denzel is a jewel amongst a class of lack luster MCs.
This album reminds of Travis Scott's Rodeo... Denzel just released his most ambitious project to date, it's easy to see him on the cusp of reaching the next level, just like what Rodeo did for La Flame. This album is something special. The journey from the first to last track is enthralling. The slow build is uncanny, as if it seamlessly moves along a spectrum: smooth to hype to heavy to annihilation. I think it would be wise for some of the best up and comers to try to emulate what Curry has done with this one.
This is exactly how I describe this album
@Slim Shady nope.
Not a fan of the interviewer, but she’s trying. Just seems like she’s nervous
Same
I liked that she asked questions about the themes of the album and meaning of the lyrics. A lot of these interviews are just kind of generic about what making the album was like. Yes there were a few likes and umms but IMO the questions are the more important part and the interview was excellent. Just not sure why they didn't discuss Clout Cobain or Vengeance.
SHE'S PROBABLY A FAN lol
She’s probably new to it
true@@badguy565
This and Daytona literally made 2018 one of the best in the genre
CASSO BLVCK true but 2016 GOAT
CASSO BLVCK Nah 2015... To Pimp A Butterfly solidified that year as the best
K-Dot J-Cole To Pimp a Butterfly and ALLA*

All amazing albums. 2018 is shaping to be one of the best of the decade for sure. The aoty list is actually hard af this year.
Taboo is amazing but nah

10/10 Denzel seriously it has become a dream to me to meet you and shake your hand . You are not a person you are art . I hope you see this comment
Jeemo Y2J whaaaaaat. How did u get to meet him
Rick Harrison he said it's a "Dream"
Ah I’m just dumb
You missed the dream part 😂 , The changes and talent he has got my respect cant help it
His best project ever. Classic.
The Interviewer was not meant to do interviews. Lol
Salvador Basulto I was thinking the same thing lol
you arent meant to make comments
Craig Denton you aren’t meant to tell people what they can and cant do
Shes trying her best bro
Drew Vanzy, can she try her best to not say 'like' basically ever again, then it'd be fine rly
Denzel curry is the new candidate

Da Rayvicious True to you so keep it true to me
I like this interview a lot. It doesn’t feel like every other surface level interview where they all ask the same questions that don’t mean that much. This one I feel like it’s more like just a fan is talking to him in depth about the album. I love it. She did stutter a bit and she said like A LOT but other than that it was really good. And Denzel was really patient with her and nice. This all felt very real.
His dreads insane

Denzel been putting Florida in the map
It’s crazy how someone like Denzel is hardworking and makes lyrical and meaningful music, and is EXTREMELY underrated..........While you have rappers like Lil Pump, smokepurp, and many more that depend on their beats, because they have no lyrical talent, but at the same time are 3x as successful than Denzel. It just makes no damn sense!!
Guidingboar055. Nigga leave them alone. I know they seem trash but for real i see these type of comments every time. But yeah, i agree with you.
Guidingboar055 its because they have labels behind em and pushing their shit more. denzel has and always will be independant.
He's not underrated he's underappreciated and slept on. Anyone who listens to him agrees he's one of the top rappers in the game easily
Ethan Alexander i disagree, he’s 100% underrated...
Blake Jordan Nigga have u not listened to Curry ? U can turn up to his shit as well.
I wanna see denzel curry freestyle over the gta sa Andreas theme song 😂😂😂
Haha 69 likes
He’s so real. I could talk to denzel for hours I feel like
THIS INTERVIERWER ANNOYING BUT ZEL IS SO COOL
The Hybrid Kid she asked him mad questions but she kept interruptin him n tryna speak over
Album of the year for sure
ULT
After 7 full listens, I still don't feel like I picked up on every reference and hidden meaning. My God this album is amazing!
Thought Kids See Ghost would be A.O.T.Y. I'm sorry I underestimated you Denzel. Pls forgive
Ivan Moll Niggga that shit not even considered tf u talking about
Matter fact Pusha shit better then that shit
Mon Gu Son pusha T’s album is so fucking average compared to this, good try tho
Domcreator Bro what ? I like Cudi but the niggga could hum on the track and y’all would say it’s fire. Pusha T was better nigga. And rap wise it’s not even a debate.
Mon Gu Son yeah. It’s not even a debate. Like have you even tried to fucking listen to taboo? Every single like has like some background. “Oh say can you see a hundred dead bodies in the street” like hello? Gtfo here man
She asked such well informed, great questions. Really enjoyed this
Honestly switch it up was way deeper than I thought
Thank you for this interview, provided a lot of insight into TA13OO to whoever the interviewer is ignore all the hate comments you have great content
Agreed! Great questions that led to an excellent interview.
My mind was blown when he tied in the end of the album to the beginning. That is genius. I was trying to figure out why he called it the dark side of Ta13oo even tho its was supposed to be the light.
I’m getting kind of an Outkast vibe from the lighter tracks, songs like The Whole World and Morris Brown
+OneStop MediaShop i know i am replying to this randomly, but the Clout Cobain video kinda reminds me and i think of the "The Whole World" video by Outkast, cause they both took place in a circus or freak show. isn't that something?
Incoming satisfied Denzel Curry fans
CRAZIERBIRD *S A T I S F A C T I O N*
Domcreator I feel the need to apologise to you because you're a denzel fan for the fact that I slept on him for way too long. Won't happen again
CRAZIERBIRD lmao
@@crazierbird8031 😂😂😂
its so funny how the interviewer didnt get anything right and the whole interview is denzel correcting her
Favourite songs off TA13OO??
What'd you guys think of it?
HotNewHipHop that whole shit knocks from front to back. Been patiently waiting for this one
HotNewHipHop gray goes hard
Every bit. Its perfection
HotNewHipHop Nothing but excellence
Damn. So many relatable meanings and bangers to this song. Zel really put everything in this album. Definitely one of the best albums of 2018. This man is criminally underrated.
Bruh he need to Fckn Blow up..HE FCKN DESERVES IT...He has the best lyrics..in my opinion :-$
album of the year fosure.

No.2 for me..... KOD was just too good bruh
aJeff47 😳
Sirenz is my favorite track
Saw him the other day at his show in Brooklyn, one of the best shows I’ve been to!
Album is straight beautiful
They need a better interviewer
Fax
But like why, I think like, she’s like pretty good, but like yeah, i see like what you like mean
Coach Pettigrew 😂😂😂
I think she did well
I liked that she asked questions about the themes of the album and meaning of the lyrics. A lot of these interviews are just kind of generic about what making the album was like. Yes there were a few likes and umms but IMO the questions are the more important part and the interview was excellent. Just not sure why they didn't discuss Clout Cobain or Vengeance.
Denzel took over the interview, which was good. Nice move
Best album 2018!
oh man, I didn't even know why, but listening to it on loop I was thinking this flows so well as a loop, must be because it's being turned up then dropped it wouldn't work the other way.
Fucking Denzel goes and puts 13MT disintegrating into TA1300 what a fucking madman beautiful
Thank you zeltron for the album it was a masterpiece🙏
Starting to fw this man music & style heavily underrated as a artist to be on xxl 2016 that TA13OO Album dope ass hell
Damn 2 years later it still slaps🔥it will forever by one of my favorite Denzel albums
Take a shot every time she says "like"
u on a death wish? LMAO
Raven Landry Fr....
Guess we're taking 5 shots
I feel dizzy man, what's in this shit?
Thank you for your patience Curry!
Wild he’s only 22
GeorgetheGreat 23 but still
i hope we dont lose him.
@@jayniel5991 why even put that energy out there.
Ta13oo when there is no track you want to skip, that's when you know. Plus it's fucking amazing
Lol holy fucking shit! The fact that I was right in these assessments and what each act meant, is nice. Although I did not say it exactly like Denzel, I basically had similar thoughts. When going through each song on each act, it kinda gets so easy to tell especially when the last song fades into the first song of the next act. I would go into detail but seems pointless as nobody won't care about some UA-cam comment.
Bro this man is so intellectual and lyrical. When he was talkin about the "suite" verse i was mind fucked lol.
This kid is a breath of fresh air....
That Tee says "It's Closed there" makes sense.
We don’t deserve Denzel Curry but we need him fo sho!
Him and Danny Brown both got backwards albums that are downward spirals
Probably why they’re both the best rappers alive
shut up bitch
no no no you just dont get it FUCK YOU
Ah shit u right
🖤
How many times can this chick say "like"
a lot 😅
"Like" counter from the interviewer:
5
This made me so excited to listen to the album
Felt the shockwaves honestly and started following you closely around December 2017/January 2018. Fucking strange...
This guy isn’t just a rapper or an artist. He’s a genuine certified genius.
BEST ALBUM OF 2018! HANDS DOWN
Denzel is so underrated bruh🤦🏽♂️ I hope he blows up by 2019
His shirt says,
“No favours”
if anyone wanted to know.
If you translate it word to word then it says,
“Favours are closed”
But that doesn’t make sense so I translated it as it was most likely intended
Great interview
TA13OO really messed me up to begin with, I was subject to CSA and yeah… it was a bit real. But after hearing Zel talk about his own experience with CSA it changed the way I interpreted the song, then the whole damn album blew my head off entirely! It’s in my top 10 now for real, I feel Denzel will always be underrated!
like like like like like like like like, like.... like. like.
your music makes me feel not schizophrenic and not alone. wish u all of the best denzel curry
I like that he leaves things up for interpretation
i swear that Denzel’s dreads change colors over interviews.
Bro its crazy how much meaning this whole album has
One thing that's very ironic is that Sumo and Super Saiyan Superman, the two tracks overexaggerating flexing, are getting more recognition than alot of other songs.
This is true, shows how fucked up the rap game is now man
He didnt reference zillakami he is on the album btw
Yes she skipped a whole track lol. Vengeance is one of my personal favorites too. I was so mad 😂
Antonio Freeman she didnt skip it that "got voices in my head got to many"part was in the song she just didnt talk about zilla
Ahhh you right!
This interview showed me how Denzel is 5 feet above everybody atm, really impressed
great questions, great interview
Interviewer: "there are some taboo subjects on this album is that what you were going for?"
Denzel on the inside: "THE ALBUM IS LITERALLY CALLED TA13OO!!"
they need to keep this video format more artists could benefit from it
really good interview so far! at minute 8
Crazy how he has each dread a color that new rappers have, the red the blue the white I think I saw a fee purple ones in the back
this man is out of this world with his lyrics
another day and denzel is still underrated
I want him and Joey to drop a project together
I liked the interview. The interviewer did well. I enjoyed it
My favorite album this year by far😊👍
GOAT!!!!! ULT.. God flow. Denzel and the Underachievers please make a song together!!!!!!!!!!
Zeltron 6 Billion is the hottest/ most overlooked rapper in the game, sad he will never get the true recognition he deserves but he Knossos that and won’t ever go main stream....
I understand she was nervous and maybe wasn’t the most experienced, but the interviewer was a cool person who actually knew what she wanted to say, unlike a lot of interviewers I’ve seen recently. Stop hating
Wow, this interviewer is asking questions. What's wrong with her??
Seriously though, she's not that annoying. Idk why people talking mad shit.
David Santana there's comments like that on every interview it's dumb
Fr
Yeah I’m confused
She need to work on her public speaking tho. She says "like" every other word
James Ronaldo so does Denzel
Wait he moved to Cali??????? I need to know his mindset on how to prosper
Better than Eminem's album.
Guys the interviewer wasn't that bad, she just seemed a bit nervous- which made her sound somewhat unprepared.
Mr. Piebro She seemed like she just wanted to get her list of questions answered before time was up
This dude though ... appreciate him, so much!
This made me like the album even more
I'm glad you used the word homies.
I just released this album kinda reminds of of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" with how he talked about the stacking and how life will repeat Pink Floyd did a similar thing were the beginning of the album is technically the end of the album and the ending of the album is technically the beginning and both lyrics at the end of first and last song connect to together meaning the cycle will just continue like how Denzel said
