- Huge thanks to David Z to G scale who very generously sent me this BNSF Kato Dash 9 diesel locomotive as a gift for reaching 7K, this was ridiculously generous and I can't thank him enough for it!

David Z to G scale If it wasn’t for “models” we would have never had learned how the world truly works ! Case in point ; What happens when someone goes all out to build a decent model train layout ????? You get an (architect) someone who’s going to be putting buildings together as well as structuring the streets & the landscaping !
You get a “Model-Railroader” Who will be laying down the tracks as well as building yards and in some cases cities were spaces available ! And not to forget, Model boats, planes, military, and cars as well as people too ! You just have to stay in scale and it works !!! 🌊🐺

As someone who has put all the fine details on a Kato GP35, Santa Fe, I recommend using a pair of tweezers to put in the grab irons, and be extra careful to not lose the tiny ones.
Damn. Those are pretty hard to find, very generous of him to send that. Those are the smoothest runners out there.

I own N scale locomotives from Atlas, Bachmann, Intermountain, Microtrains and Kato. The Kato brand stands out as the best, the most quiet running, by far the fastest speed, smoothest running at slow speeds, pull the most cars and are the most reliable and trouble free. Accurate detail and paint work.
Love that h2 bnsf dash 9! Them kato locos are nice even though they are expensive. Kato does make locos with the handrails already installed as I own a UP dash 9 from their latest production run.
It has them, Harrison just needs to install them. 👍
as far as ho scale locos go Kato is very inexpensive, top quality loco at $115, yes pls

Congratulations SMT mainline ! Apparently David G to Z must have a lot of trains himself ! At least I have now learned how to function a DCC ready locomotive ! Unfortunately, I don’t have the proper transformer !!! However, the one you just showed me might be an answer, and in an affordable way !!! I remember seeing these types of transformers well over 20 years ago !!! Now the only problem is is if I can get my trains running again considering I have “O”, HO, “N” & Z and everything I own is in all my Florida East Coast are in “champion color or Florida East Coast “blues” !!! I just wish I had space just to at least work on at least one of my train layouts even if it’s my Z !!! 🌊🐺

I always wondered where you got the Dash 9 Harrison, and I just happened to stumble on to this video, very nice of David Z to G scale to get it for you! Fun fact on this locomotive's prototype, all of BNSF's Dash 9s as well as the road's AC4400CWs featured a unique cab dubbed the "gullwing" cab which is evidenced by the notches on each side of the cab roof and was a feature that BNSF predecessor Santa Fe specifically ordered beginning with the road's Dash 8-40CWs in 1990. Sadly, this unique option ended in 2003 with the arrival of the ES44AC/ES44DC locomotives. Anyway, just thought I would share this neat little tid bit on these units, take care!

BNSF is such a beautiful loco my favorite rail road at least. And I was a model of ho but sold all my stuff 2 years ago. Now I got a good house I'm going to model O-Gauge. Will be a bnsf layout. And probably do a western desert scenery that changes into smokey mountains , I love your bnsf loco there dash 9 was always the best one but now they have a gevo think I spelt that right lol

SMT mainline you lucky boi you get a loco a movie and some stickers for free also you should run that locomotive and your bachmann BNSF gp40 together in one of your live streams they will look good as a pair and run a long fright consist.

Kato really need to build more detailed locomotives. They also need to invest in better packaging like Scaletrains.

I finally got a real train! It was this but a UP, and a ihc alcohol Southern Pacific in Ho scale. For the kato, I’ve spent almost 5 and a half hours trying to get all the pieces in. The ladders make me wanna rip my face out…

SMT Mainline anytime that you go Pennsylvania you can stop by the New Oxford Train Station and see some things that are inside of the train station and the old mail car and there are three hobby shops that are in Pennsylvania like mainline hobby shop, Tommy Gilbert, and white rose hobby shop. I have been to two hobby shop and they have pretty good things that can help you find anything.

That's not a bad idea but I don't have the skills to make something like that and I have my heart set on a intercepter locomotive since it hasn't been created.
