So yes, the more they get stretched the weirder they start to look because their arm / hands are way above the natural resting point which is typically mid thigh or so. Your natural height is the same as the distance from the top of your middle finger to the top of the other middle finger with your arms opened at the widest. But humans tend to notice something like height before they notice natural proportions are off so it is a trade off I think most short folks are willing to make.

My legs are short, my physical therapist says, my leg to torso ratio is a medical condition. I am 5’ 10” but have been aware that, I look funny since my twenties. In my fifties now, I have back problems associated with this condition, that is too late to fix. Had I known sooner, I would have probably had these procedures.

You need a psychologist instead of an orthopedist. But if you're willing to wait couple of months or years before you can walk improperly then go for it, you only live ones.

I believe there is no particular age limit but of course as the body functions better at a young age and produces more growth hormone, the younger the better and the quicker your recovery is. Pain comes shortly after surgery then fades after a couple of weeks from what I have heard.

I also workout and heavy loads over spine definitely affects height too. Some workouts temporarily improve pelvic tilt to some degree. But my height even till afternoon was basically close enough to morning height. Some people have worse spine and muscles around it than others..so will loose more height. E.g your example..(mine too lol). Most loose 1cm a day. We're loosing a minimum of 2.54. And others work out loosing potentially more
People, believe me, being tall isn't as big of a deal. I'm 6 feet tall and the only time I'm reminded of it is when I'm asked to pick stuff up from higher isles by old ladies, when my legs won't fit in aeroplane seats, when I look like a goofball on most mid-range motorcycles or when I go to gym and realise all the downsides of longer limbs (you require stronger muscles to lift same weight, just how biomechanics work). Point being, don't get a limb lengthening surgery unless you're a little-person.
