I appreciate that you repeated the main points in the end of the video. I will suggest that you continue with this.
I noticed that too and I like it a lot.
Love the first story. When life throws you a curve ball, just keep it together and stay humble.
Life throws one a curve ball, seek opportunity to learn baseball.
The first story is a Chinese classic, from a book called “Huai Nan Zi” 《淮南鸿烈集解》written around 100BC in WestHan dynasty China. Lots of cool short stories and wisdom in that book, worth to check out.
Pls how can I get here in my country, Nigeria?
Remember from my Great Aunt the story about the donkey. My childhood was filled with stories from her memory, & always had a moral/lesson that still help me at present day.
Who's excited for the nuggets of wisdom within this video... First.
I really love your channel. Your videos are always well scripted, each one is better than the one before and even with know topics, your added perspective brings new light to it. Thank you for your quality content
This is what the internet was made for.
Too much toxic thought and opinion on social media within our perceived challenging lives.
Spreading this type of “stoic joy” is a good thing.
I may get a negative/ positive comment.
Zero likes, a million likes
Or I can sleep a bit more, then move on with my day
How beautifully wise, enjoyed how your illustrations brought all these insights to life. Thank you!
I'm glad I watched to the end of the video, Zen #4 is so true!
I always look forward to these videos. Thank you for your contribution good Sir.
Amazingly compiled!! Great job!
The fifth part of the donkey sketch is where the man and his wife carry the donkey.
Thats true..its in Indian folk stories Panchtantra
We were taught this story in primary school.
Thank you! I really need this reminder today!
Drop the stone, so you can pick up the stick. Ok. Feels like a juggling act sometimes with the wealth of information I’ve uncovered in my pursuit of philosophy. Now, to do today. 😁☮️❤️🙏🏻
The 'pedagogy' in this video is excellent and efficacious.
I really liked this video. Simple, but good small stories to learn from.
Stories presented are Very much true, reflects our day to day Life experiences .. as we are more keen on others expectations and expressions. These stories collection is an eye opener & Inspiring.. Good one 👍
Moral of the stories moved my heart. A new way of seeing life, wow! Thank you very much 🙏🌹 we need more of Zen ❤
And you are the type of idiot that keeps their "especially wise" reputations alive. Wisdom is as freely available as the air you breathe. You don't need a self-proclaimed "wise" man to take your money and teach you platitudes. Just open your eyes and observe. Close your mouth, open your ears, and listen. Eastern mysticism is just another con. Besides, if you haven't listened to your parents, friends, teachers, and coworkers.... you won't gain anything from them, either.
Good stuff man. I love Zen stories!
These stories are very powerful.
Thank u so much for posting such a video... this really helped....😊
Great video. Filled with wisdom.
Probably one of your best videos to date!
Great video buddy.....I needed this ...
“Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions.” :)
my personal "definition" of happiness is that it's just a state of mind. and yes, i agree, that comes from your own actions ;)
I don't remember when I first heard the number 1 story in this video, it was few years ago (maybe even on your channel?), but I know, that this story really had impact on my life. Since then always when something bad or good happened in my life, I had this story in my mind. And this turned out to be very true. So many times bad events brought eventually something good, and vice versa. I often share this story with people and really recommend to have it in mind! We tend to put label on things, "bad" or "good", but things can change fast.
(Sorry if I made lang mistakes, english isn't my first lang)
For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t have guessed. Your English is better than many native speakers.
I like the idea of remembering these stories and drawing wisdom from them in various life situations.
This always pops up when I need it most!!!
While some stories were already familiar to me, it was still good to be reminded of them.
thank you so much.. very helpful indeed. thanks a lot...
Thanks for sharing!
I like the "we will see" philosophy
I would not equate introversion with neuroticism/emotional stability. This is a great video with stories that address the later.
this is a very very good advise...
Thank you !
THANKS A LOT i really need this ♡♡♡♡
Excellent video! I needed this today.
Learn a lot from it .Thank you.
“ please one, please all, please nobody “ “please yourself “
Great great video. Thx
Great video, thank you!!
Great stories!
These videos are great
Keep up the good work
8:22 How you seek determines what you'll get.

Nice work mate.
Superb! ❤️
So good Thanks
Awesome content.
Zen Koans will truly change your life
Noice! B-E-A-Utifully said!
Like it. Keep going
Pretty good video. The story to do with loss of horses should be a Daoist Story.
I keep cup empty most of the time ❤️✌️
Hi, May I know what is the font used ?
true version valuable asseveration.
I liked ‘The move’ story
I migrated 2 times. Where I live now is much different than where I lived before.. Here I am surrounded from ignorance, zero education, not respect......... Much as I'm trying not to focus/seek on those things, there are always in front of me.
I believe the first story was originally in reference to a Taoist farmer and predates Zen. Great lesson though.
One mistake us humans make is believing our mental concepts are real. There are things in this world that exist only on paper there is no real example in life. We worry about the bad events that will happen but are only in our imagination.
Could you help me the name of the doodle software you use

Balance balance balance😊
"They are killing people for no reason, so evil" Farmer: Will see..........
What is the whiteboard animation software used in the video? Please suggest one
There's a link in the description.
Thats why I dropped my Id decades ago through meditation long time before and after reading Karl Jung.
I only have one problem with the farmer story. How are we ever meant to experience the greatest joys "highest highs" when we are always in the middle ground? some would say that this is being numb, disassociating and turning off your emotions...
I like this question. I am choosing to think of it more as a mental pause and being mindful of my reactivity and mental judgements.
I don’t want to have that much emotional distance from *everything.* I think I would benefit from a pause and not making snap judgements. But I do want to celebrate and laugh about getting a bunch of horses on my doorstep!
I love the content but i didn't get the last one. I couldn't relate to it. What I understand is having a positive perspective. But how does it connect to what I seek is what I find. Because in my case I want to move somewhere, because there is no opportunity here and I feel stagnant. So does that mean that the place I'm moving too is also a place where this no opportunity and will still give me the feeling of being stuck because that is how I see my town? I just want to move to gain independence, and find new opportunities, be with new people hiping I can learn from them. Can someone please explain? I'm too slow understanding this.
+++ Thanks for reveiling your site to me.
Any advice for those with depression, self sabotage and lethargy?
AberrantArt make something, create! Visualise it, do it. Write it down! See it, build it. Do it ,be it. You are unique. Show the world your insanity. And eat proper!! 😁☮️❤️🙏🏻
@@vectorequilibrium4493 I eat proper, the issue is in my mind. I have too many things to do and many creative ideas. It's not a lack of ideas or goals, its the inability to do anything. I feel paralyzed with anger and can't focus on anything but pessimism and hate for society and the future of the world.

Finding something good is worth sharing... and helping others is also like helping ourselves (Proverbs 11:25)
Don't want to sound religious but just to share that I hope can help you..
It will make a whole difference when we recognize the reality of a loving and compassionate God... that you are created for a purpose (Psalms 139:14) and loved greatly coz God gave humankind His best... His only Son, to save us from eternal damnation through the forgiveness of our sins. Once we realize that great love despite our shortcomings, we will be strengthened to forgive others as God also forgives us as we humble ourselves before Him. What is great is that God will also enable us to do what He commands... for our own good, our own freedom and protection and inner peace.
There are a lot of good videos around but I suggest that have a quiet moment with God.. to pray and surrender all your hurts unto Him and ask His guidance and strength to go through each day... coz He Who promised never lie.. ever faithful. Titus 1:2, Sharing with you these encouraging, powerful and life -giving Word of the Lord: Romans 8:32, Ephesians 2:8-10, Proverbs 3:1-6, John 3:1-16, James 1:5, (God gives wisdom generously, without finding fault.. to those who ask) Psalms1, Ecclesiastes12:13, Matthew 6:33, Mathhew 7:7, Psalms119 (long but it expounds our need for God and in reading, meditating and holding on His Word ... His statutes.. moment by moment)
Here's praying for you and may you experience the loving touch of our Holy Lord and Creator. May you be surrounded by God-loving people.

👏👏👏
The story about the couple and the donkey is originally an old Egyptian one.
1. Don't live in EXTREMES, live in the MIDDLE.
2. Don't let your preconceptions prevebt you from learning
3. No matter what you do people will always judge you
Can I put questions in these videos for my adult English students- any copyright issues?
These are really famous stories, passed from generations. No one knows the origin so I doubt there is a copyright issue.
The first story is a stoic story
What can we do if we're unable to change our perspective and still feel stuck and hopeless?
If I may, AbberrantArt, you might find a lot that can help you on this website: theadultchair.com/ All the best. I hear ya!
Just want to add that I have no skin in the game with this website. I have just found Ms. Chalfant's guidance very practical and helpful.
@@noralee6793 have you read the book? I might give it a read.
@@AberrantArt I don't know which book you are referring to.

The person tailgating you probably really needs to use the restroom because they have dioreah.
Or he’s hoping we both drive faster to get to our homes because of the ensuing hurricane. I.e the tailgater is trying to help us.
Perception is great
The one zen story that will change your life is how about actually try doing zen? The thing that inspired all of these and many more.
it's a me mario
Stoicism: with a bowl of rice.
This is the critical thinking most people lack.
look at children. They are happy, playful, curious, joyful. That is our true nature. Analytical, worrying mind is taught in school. It is unnatural. Zen is taking yourself back to your true nature.
I really enjoyed the video and some great lessons here. However, in the case of "the move", it's not always true that if where you are is bad, then it's because of your own perspective or doing as implied by this particular lesson. Sometimes you must move to get out of a toxic situation and not blame yourself.
A flock of horses?
We came so, so close to Loss. Maybe next time.
He said may be not will see
Ignorance can be bliss. Or not. Still confused about this one.
1) good sex, 2)scientific and socratic method, 3) humanism, 4)realize how lucky we are to be alive and be sooooo grateful. Done.
So the man should have lied about the last town he lived in, and said it was wonderful. So how is that good? Can you really lie to yourself, when you know what the truth is? Somethings are bad, and how do you just pretend they are all good? Is this a way to make yourself feel better?
Karens need to watch this, take a Prozac and leave people alone!
Instead of saying "we'll see" try saying "Good luck bad Luck, Who knows?" It works MUCH Better !
A man won a trip by plane in a lottery. That's luck.
He stepped in the plane but it was a freight plane, so he had an inconvenient seat. That is bad luck.
The plane left in time. That is luck.
But the plane got engine trouble and was going to crash. That is bad luck.
There was a parachute on board for everybody. That is luck.
He jumped out of the plane, but the parachute would not open. That is bad luck.
He looked down and saw a haystack straight under him. That is luck.
In the haystack stood a fork with it's teeth up. That is bad luck.
But the man was lucky, he did not fall on the haystack.
You never mention "good luck".
Loved 3 first ones. Dont like the 4th. Too simplistic and ultimately unfair. Someone can be having a bad time in a place, being censored, judged (or worse) and need a change to express their potencial.
Straight up, the intro sounds like ADHD symptoms, specifically, a "hyperactive" mind... And roughly 90% of adults with ADHD are undiagnosed.... Great video, though!!
Lol what ?? Where did you get that stat?

@@11Freedome11 One guy's opinion. That's his estimation, not a statistic.
I didn't get the "The Move" part, the man wasn't seeking trouble & mean people & he wanted to be away from such negative people, so what's wrong in it? Even Elon Musk left his home town when people & the environment was not suitable for him.
I am sick of words such as: zen, karma, etc.
Buddhism is for people who don't think enough.
Yeah, my doctors and I agree that yoga (stretching) would be a great help with pain and other afflictions I suffer. The problem is, every place I go for Yoga, they constantly try to change my religion. I don't see any of the "Eastern Wisdom" they are supposed to possess. All I see is smug superiority.
@Zhi Lee Buddhism is for anyone, whether they think too much or too little, who is open to benefiting from the insights it has to offer. I can understand being put off by people who overuse their new vocabulary, but that's not Buddhism. The Buddha sought to guide people onto a path that could lead to their liberation from unnecessary suffering. He wasn't seeking to establish a religion.
@@alwaysuseless - Even as a Chinese, I don't believe in Buddhism.
Buddhism is only a man-made religion. They claimed Buddha said there is no hell, but modern Buddhists do believe hell exists. What a contradiction. That proves Buddhism does NOT have the full truth.
The Buddhist belief of reincarnation is ridiculous. Also it has been disproved.
@@zlee4019 Of course, there is the religion of Buddhism. I'm not interested in that. I'm interested in the Buddha's teachings on awareness, suffering, meditation, and liberation from suffering. It's not necessary to believe in reincarnation, heaven or hell, or an afterlife, to benefit from the teachings of the wise and to live a good life.
Live in the middle ? No highs and lows ? Sounds like every day the same, the most boring imagination I could have. The inability to express joy, is called depression.
Customer misinterprets story they overhear.
Not knowing facts accuse me of being negative gossip.
Try to set record straight, customer customer
Spreads his
negative opinion.
Years latter, I sell a pickup, person buying truck is
Not happy so he sells my truck to negative customer.
While working on truck, negative customer starts engine
While in gear and he is run over by truck. Dragged
By the truck hundreds of feet down and across road.
Pinned under front wheel and on a fence the neighbors
Pulled him out. Three ribs broken, he comes home, and is
Dead within months of truck running him over.
His negative impact on me hurt and cost me my
Job. Truck kills him six years latter.
Now that's Zen.
I have a problem with this narrative. It focusses too much on succes and overcoming in stead of just being. There is a trap there. I felt pretty good about losing 10 pounds, until my friend told me he lost 20 pounds in the same time. Focussing on your "succes" means focussing on a story and anything that undermines that story is a threat. So celebrating your successes has a problem. If you reward yourself for "good" behaviour, you are giving the message you need to "do" or "achieve" to even get love from yourself. In stead, just compassionately look at what is happening to you.
First the story about the Farmer's Horse.
Then he ends the video saying not to let negative thoughts dominate your life...
Pay attention much? Negative thoughts? We'll see...
I don't get it. If something isn't right for you, or you had a bad experience, how are you NOT to have negative thoughts about it? I don't care for the "positive thinking"...seems forced, and lots of denial and pretending.
The town people in the donkey story sure seem to be suffering from the same affliction as those with Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Shouldn't it be "the jury is out" on today's events? That is, the verdict isn't in.
