The negative connection needs to go wherever the negative battery terminal attached to the frame. This will help prevent ground loops. You DO NOT want to connect both + and - to the battery terminals.

Just a small HDMI monitor from Amazon, and then a tablet mount that suctions to the windshield and dash. A more glamorous way of setting this up would be to bolt a laptop mount to the front passenger seat mount, similar to a mobile data terminal in an ambulance or law enforcement vehicle.
