I think it is the first time I've seen a printed instruction manual making the whole process much, much more confusing than just figuring it out by myself. Quite a feat of strength when you think about it.

False advertisement on the box: Easy assembly in 10 minutes, without mentioning the possibility of needing a handsaw to cut the tube to make it fit in your tub...

I recently moved and the extra short rod was too long. This is the first I've heard of cutting it. Like I have a metal rod cutter just laying around in my apartment! I finally figured out the solution. My tension shower caddy (different brand) came with three 3" long plastic spacers that you can use in place of the short rod. You drop them down the rod where the spring is. Use however many you need to get the length to install the caddy. I quit putting the baskets on until I was up to properly place the shower caddy. I got tired of fighting with the baskets moving around. Hope that helps someone who is having trouble assembling their shower caddy.

I'm honestly relieved i'm not the only one struggling with this... I was worried there for a minute lol it took me like 45+ minutes until I finally caved and asked for my dad's help
    - we didn't use the shortest tampered in
    - you need to manhandle the skinniest pole down against the spring inside of the big straight tube
    - use spacers as needed down the straight tube with the spring before shoving the skinniest pole down against the spring
    - at that point go to wherever you're placing this s.o.b. and compress the spring down to the necessary height then voila

I still don't have it together after 2 hours. Instructions don't mention where the spacers go. I threw them inside the spring tube. It seems they belong in there. The pole is wobbly and the ring that secures the rod that is with the rod with spring will not fit. It's a disaster. This thing is going back to Amazon.

No. Very bad design! It doesn't work! I have the straight pole with spring inside. How does go into the other pole when it's not tapered? It's just straight end on another straight end. I tried to insert the spring into the straight end, but the spring went right through when I installed pushed the tension pole. Nothing holds it to create tension on that pole. What the heck?!? Then I tried putting the spring it on a tapered end, same thing. Nothing to create tension to the spring to hold the thing up!!! I don't think these guys even tried to assemble their piece of junk themselves. They just thought it was a good idea, put it in a box, sold it and let us figure this junk for ourselves. Anyway, it worked for them, they made money. I didn't give up. I worked on this beast of a project. Tweaked the opening to create tension on the spring. I assembled it and tried to mount it. It did not work on the shower, too short, add another rod, too long. I tried to mount it in the bathtub. That did not fit either. I don't have a machine to cut metal. Why should I have to cut it? I assumed they put it together and tried it on their tubs/showers. It should fit, right? NO! IT DID NOT FIT ANY SHOWERS OR TUBS AT ALL. It fit in the garbage can once it was disassembled. This was not a "10 minute" project, it took a few hours tweaking here and there. It was a total failure and waste of time. My body hurts with all the contorting I had to put it through trying to get this thing to work. Need wine and a good movie.

Took me 10 minutes to assemble. I am 80 years old, not as strong as I was as a younger woman but I managed to compress the tension spring and lift it into position. I was lucky it fit with the two longer bars, no need to run to the basement and use the chop saw. Great product.

I had one just like this for about 8 years. I don't recall having much trouble installing it, but I have a full height shower stall, so I used all the pieces.
I had been noticing small specks of dark matter emerging around the bottom of the pole for the last year, but I could just rinse them away with the shower head. Well, the other day I started to shower and was rinsing my hair and I suddenly got hit in the back by something and heard all my soaps and supplies hit the deck. After I could open my eyes, I saw the mess of stuff all over the shower floor. There was rust everywhere. The pole had been rusting inside and finally fell apart. I cleaned up the whole mess and threw it away. I'm going with aluminum now.

Oh my God, I struggled with this for two days. I also open the package and took the bars out of the bags. It would’ve been. I said they put little stickers on each piece to label them. I thought it would be pretty simple to figure out it would’ve been nice. Had they told which order to put the damn polls in I kept trying to put the spring with the pole in the middle, and then I finally realized that the little skinny pole is the one that goes on the top. Once I figure that out which would explain why one of the stoppers was thicker and would only fit the skinny bowl or the small end of the tapered pole I finally figured out it went on the top, so I took it to the shower and I only use the one spacer like it said I would need, but it was way too much so once I took the bring out and pulled the one stopper out and just use the spring because I was going off the shelf on the bathtub I got it in there although I was afraid I was going to put a hole through the sheet rock, there was a lot of tension, but it went in. It does bow out just a tiny bit, but to counteract that I push the stopper at the top to the very corner of the ceiling, now if I can just figure out where the tape went so I can tape the joints I’ll be done. It seems the house has eaten a tape. Honestly, I was ready to throw this back in the box and send it back every video I found just said put the polls together didn’t say which one went first lol.

Just so everyone knows, the written instructions for this which just got delivered gives 7 size ranges. FOUR out of the SEVEN (so more than half) require you 'cut X number of inches" from one of the tubes. This is RIDICULOUS. Sorry, but this may have to go back. Very disappointed. I have no 'jigsaw' or hacksaw to cut this with and NEVER would have even considered purchasing it if I had known about this serious design flaw. Don't tell me it's not needed for 'standard' areas when MOST of the heights require cutting the metal pipes somehow someway. God only knows how.
