Sega have had some great games. Looking pretty sweet on the old c64 as well

Afterburner on the Spectrum was lots of fun!

So many of sega's games relied on 'into the screen' movement throwing massive sprites around. It really showed what the C64s limitations were. Some of these were a lot of fun to play though.

Super Thunderblade never appeared on the c64, that was Thunderblade. Apart from that, nice compilation, I didn't even know about some of these

@duhmez Well on my street I was the one with the C64 and my two friends each had Spectrum and CPC 464, I didn't start copying games til the Amiga, my parents would buy me a C64 cassette every fortnight and I thought it was a big deal, of course it was only a couple of quid but it seemed a lot...
No "warp mode" back then meant waiting for them to load!

Some games like Super Thunderblade and Shadow Dancer are quite amazing when you consider the hardware and even trying to make Power Drift was just wow! :-)

Not only one word just a face sums up all the greatness of this video = :)

Cool video. These Sega conversions were among the best games for the system. Aah, I loved the Wonderboy series (I even uploaded a Wonderboy tribute video including all six games in the series for all systems it was released on) and would hope they would relaunch the series or at least something similiar! I remember I was amazed how action games on my friends 486/66mhz always lagged badly, but most c64 scrolled very smoothly.

Great Video. Some real memorys of my C64 here...brilliant!!!

Most of these conversations are terrible and do nothing to show what the machine was truly capable of. Shinobi and Power Drift were the only noteworthy games I remember, and Thunderblade, Wonderboy and Turbo Outrun were decent too. The rest were embarrassing.

I agree, a few people have said the same in various comments sections. Apparently some conversions were only done by 1 person (or a very small number of people) in a short period of time with no input from the arcade developers. Space Harrier and Afterburner both had US and UK versions, with the former being an improvement over the latter. So much more could have been done on so many c64 games, i.e. with more patience and attention to detail. Shame Shinobi had no music as well. Not sure if that was down to the game already holding the full capacity of the hardware though?

@duhmez I think I used to rent Megadrive games occasionally, I was quite young when I had the C64, however we used to have a video man who came with VHS tapes in his boot/trunk, that was good because I always used to get horrors, however when the chain store opened up the independent video stores closed... shame because one used to have Hammerin Harry and Wrestlefest arcades.

@WickedClownNZ Glad you saw it mate! Well, it took about 3 evenings but most of the time was spent on "research" ie, getting and playing the ROMs. I been making vids like this for a bit, had to change the plan couple times, what I thought would be 10 games ended up more like 40.

if you gonna have a golden axe game allow more than one enemy on screen! instant failure. Eh at least it looks good on the back of the box.

There are also cartridge versions of Congo Bongo, Zaxxon and Super Zaxxon. Congo Bongo is inferior in every way to the disk version. Zaxxon looks a little closer to the arcade and had a better Zaxxon sprite, but doesn't play as well as the disk version. Not sure about Super Zaxxon since I never really cared for it that much, but I seem to recall liking the disk version better.

@duhmez Yeah man I saw that vid of yours a few weeks ago, you played it well, I'll watch it again and get the d64. No I don't recall ever seeing a floppy... in the computer shop it was all tapes, and also when the Amiga was new the guy was matey with my Dad and they were demoing it, my uncle got one when they came out, so my Dad didn't mind Commodore... fuckk knows how I wangled an Amiga out of him... he detested the NES though... expensive games.

@edt1138 I enjoy making random concept videos from time to time, I do very occasional vlogs but I prefer to watch others who are good at them :D

no VSYNC possible on old PCs but they had their uses, Mortal Kombat and SF2 Turbo were OK on 486/33 PCs for example. Sound was piss poor on all PCs, whether you had that dirt MT32 (cheesy elevator music style pre-defined instruments) or the scratchy 8bit Soundblaster lol
EA (I think) had planned on making a SID card for the PC in the time of EGA 8086 and Adlib soundcards. Oh well.

@duhmez Did he ever kick your ass to get you away from the computer? My friend with the CPC (and Master System) had a brother who used to kick the shit out of us. I always wanted a brother.
