Fun fact: The reason as to why Qatar is late to build up its city is because they were focusing on Investments outside of Qatar and also focused on its education system. Now that the education system is on point they have started working on infrastructure.

I have stayed in Qatar on and off for nearly 2 years and found it incredibly exciting! It is on the cusp of great things: it is a developing nation and on the other foot; a futuristic nation! It's crime free and for more than half the year; has a fantastic climate! And it has great architecture and gourmet food everywhere! What more do you need! With new developments occurring as we speak, such as Lusail City: 2022 will be worth the wait! I hope the hole world comes to visit Qatar in the future-I certainly will for the World Cup!
Respectfully, there is no basis in comparing New York City and Doha (Qatar). Their industrial basis and economic standpoints are completely different. Also, not saying this one specifically, but most of the buildings that are in Asia and are appealing (i.e. Burj Khalifa) are owned and built by American Architects. If you want to draw a comparison, do it with Dubai, Kuwait, Beirut, Singapore, etc. New York City shouldn't be compared to Qatar; it can be compared to cities such as San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Hong Kong, etc. But I understand where your point is coming from.
