My radios been broken for over 5 months finally gonna install a cheap aftermarket single din from Walmart later tonight, thanks for the video
Did it work my radio in my accord is also broken and makes crackle sounds and pops everytime I turn the radio on did this work for you?
@@op_cloud8829 mine does the same as well. I'm thinking it's the speakers.
@@raulnavejar474 it’s not. Just upgraded to full skar tx series 6.5’s and 6x9’s, they still crackle. You need a quality radio with a built in amp(preferably under 50w)
@@raulnavejar474uuuuuuuu😅
Good install video...
Just a couple notes that might also help:
Pause at 8:56. Look on the left side of the open cabinet and see one on the right side too, there are thin plastic open squares. These cars are old and those plastic frames are very thin. When putting in the new kit and getting it to seat under the A/C controls on the front panel, don't push too hard or these clips might break and they are irreplaceable. If that does happen the install will still work, as the screws that keep the lower part of the kit in place will hold, but the top part of the panel will have a small gap unless you attach something to the top, so go ahead and crazy glue a couple of plastic L brackets or use a 3M self adhesive strip under the A/C control panel to keep the top part in it's proper place.
Also you don't have to pull the whole old radio out to get the antenna wire. It is in a type of ziptie with a plastic squeeze clip holding it in place. use needle nose pliers do dismount it and then the cable will drop into the space below. Depending on the stereo you're putting in, you may still need a 6"-12" extender. If you do use one use electrical tape to keep the old antenna cable securely connected to the extender.
Finally, the kits themselves are kind of flimsy, so add electrical tape around the stereo insert sleeve and the kit to prevent rattling sounds.
I recently used this video to install a stereo into my '07 Accord when the old stereo crapped out. Unfortunately, I work 80 miles away from home in a high crime area and a car thief broke in to steal my new car stereo. He/She failed, because when I followed this awesome video I noticed after I was done that the back end of the kenwood head unit was a bit heavy and this made the insert sleeve rattle a bit when driving, so I pulled it all out and wrapped some duct tape around the head unit and insert sleeve to make it sit tighter. So when the thief tried to use the metal removal sticks to pull it out they couldn't get it. :)
So if you have car thief concerns or rattle sound concerns wrap some duct tape around the head unit and insert sleeve during your initial install. Also Advise that you use a magnetic tipped screwdriver to avoid losing screws down the hole.
Planning a radio install tomorrow in my ‘04, thanks for the info!
Now i need a more detailed tutorial on the wiring work that you did
If you are putting in an aftermarket stereo into the car just match the colors coming off the t-harness
This is the correct way on how-to video the install very detailed, thank you very much!!! You got one subscription from me. Watching here from down under.
I can't wait till I can work on my accord. I already had a radio I bought for a chrysler and it fits my accord as well so this saved me a ton of money until I'm ready to really pour money into a good, full on radio replacement. Will update after I work on it! 😂
did u finish working on it :P
@@Moemoe-st3yp no my loved one refused to let me do it. so they wasted a grand to get a whole new radio put in. I appreciate it but I could've put this one in!!
@gabby campbell omg 1 grand thats a lot of money that could've been used for something else but its honestly a easy job just need patients & thank you for replying also you sounded excited to work on it.
This worked perfectly for my 2003 Honda
Braigwood Music Group what radio did you use?
Very helpful video and good installation. The guy installing my new car stereo told me that I would have to keep my old stereo in and install the new one on the bottom. Just like in this video. So now i know what to expect and now i have a idea of what its going to look like. I also heard this guy say that he had to keeo the factory stereo too.
Thank you SOO much for this DETAILED VIDEO! I’ve been watching videos and researching for months and finally got the courage to replace my radio. This video answered all my questions!
Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you. This video helped me to fix my radio problem in my honda accord.
What was your problem with your Honda Accord radio my radio in my car is static and won’t play the radio?
Thanks a lot for the video, everything you explained here worked for me and my '07 accord LX, my Kenwood sounds nice and clean!
Which Kenwood deck did you go with ty?
But what if your factory radio is draining the battery how do you just put power to the new deck?
Thank you, thank you. Your video was the best, the clearest and the most informative. Excellent, thank you again.
There's separate wire harnesses for HVAC controls and the radio entirely so I don't understand why you have to run the wire back to the stock radio. I have mine completely removed because it burned out but my AC still works because it has a separate harness. So tell me why is the run back to the stock radio needed if you already have the new harness connected to the stock radio control harness?
Radio coming this friday can’t wait for the install 😁
Thanks for the video! I have repaired my old Accord2003 for 125$can.
Thank you for this video.. installed it successfully! saved a lot of $$
Great job explaining the process. Thanks !
Great video! Crutchfield's instructions were average but with your help it all went smooth
I had car toys install mine about 7 years ago. About two years ago, something happened with the factory stereo. It just stopped showing anything on the display. No big deal. I had to unhook my battery for repairs and when I hooked it back up, it reset the factory stereo and the display was working again. A couple of months go by and it goes out again. This has happened 3 or 4 times now. The last time and it appears this time, the backlight and CD inserted light stay on when the car is off and key out of the ignition. It stays on all of the time. The last time it drained my battery completely. I'm trying to prevent that this time. How can I fix this? Cut a specific wire on the stereo harness?
Like a glove !
The heat and ac run off separate power so you really dont need this harness just get the lower dash mount and a regular harness
Was looking for this comment because I’m about to wire a pioneer with just the radio harness adapter
I have this radio in my car I just bought, and who ever installed it must of put it in the wrong hole. But it works ok. Just every bump makes it skip in n out.
I will try and fix it soon as I can.
Really good video bro everything worked out perfect the only thing is that I got a different stereo and I could not make the radio work but other than that everything is working awesome 👍🏼
Going to try this out with a used stereo cos why not worst that can happen is i get all sweaty.. 🤷🏽 I got a cheap boss stereo coming in tomorrow too!
This is also how the audio shop installed mine .At first I was not happy because its like retaining the bad tooth is still there. But this is probably the simplest with not much problem
Cheapest option for sure.
Thx, just what I was looking for!
Great video! This worked just as great. The only thing that doesn’t work is the steering wheel controls. Any tips?
Thanks alot for your help u made it nice and easy for me stress free on how to replace the radio in a inexpensive still sleek look thanks alot
Im going to assume if my aftermarket radio is cheap and has 2 seperate harness connectors I just marry as many colors as possible?
worked. thank you good sir.
You're welcome!
Hey! I just installed my new 1 din radio and everything is working just fine but my original radio's screen won't go on. How to solve this problem? HVAC works also fine and has background lights too.
I used honda ISO adapter and plugged all wires correctly
Thank you for the detailed instructions!

My 04 accord came like this, it works great but after awhile I wanted to put the cubby back in for more room and to make it look neater, would it be the same process just backwards to remove it?
Question in your 04 did you have to do anything different to get the radio to play. I have all wires connected, both systems power on, but there is no sound
My radio went out about a year ago I've been using a bluetooth speaker to play music off of since then but I just ordered the kit and a radio I'll comment when I hook it up when it comes in
That mf still work or wuh??
@@leofoster9765 yeah it does
This is great, but now I’m having issues with my unit and need to take it out to check for a blown fuse. How does one take it out safely? Do you need to remove everything like you did to install it?
Do you know what wires you connected back into the factory radio for the hvac system only
Great video helped me out a lot I really appreciate it 💯💪🏾
Have any videos on 03 Camry for a single din setup
I have a 2007 accord with stereo sony model DSX 415 bt, I bought a wire harness 99-7862 with this everything is fine.
The next step is to connect the steering wheel with the stereo, the problem was what type of connection did I need to buy and what number.
Thank you for your time and I hope you can help me to find the correct wire harness to connect the stereo with the steering wheel
note: the steering wheel is original honda accord ex 2007
thanks again

double din should work too right
Same procedure on the navigation system?
Hey great video the visual walk though is helpfull when doing an install like this. I was wondering if you used the brackets that came with the kit and what they are used for exactly?
here a ? got a friend has a 07 honda accord she say her radio will not come on if i replace everything like this say will she have power to the bottom radio if her top 1 doesnt work or will i have to bypas the power wire like i have done in the past to older vehicles
There are two types of HVAC controls. If they are built into the radio then you need to check fuses and make sure power goes to the radio so it works. If it's getting power and still not working, make sure the constant power is getting there too. If both 12V are there and it's still not working, then the factory radio with built in HVAC needs to get replaced. This is needed for HVAC regardless if you get a aftermarket radio.
If you have EXTERNAL HVAC radio and you don't need power to that old radio for anything, then who cares? Test for power and it's dead, run new fused lines if needed or if there is power then just install the pigtail and the new radio will work. You'll of course need to make sure the external HVAC is still getting power, which it should anyway.
Thanks for the very helpful video. Can you tell me; will this work with Honda's Premium Sound System? 🤔
Nice video thanks .,help me a lot 😊
Glad it helped!
great job
the information was very helpful
Hey i have a 2003 honda accord sedan single disk stereo. So my stereo decides to turn on and off whenever it wants. It mostly doesn’t work. Apparently its a common problem. If i do your Bluetooth radio install will it fix the issue ? Because it seems like the new radio you install runs off the original one. And since my original one is not working, what will happen?
I have the same question
I tried doing this yesterday but the new stereo doesn’t turn on either so idk what going on in this car I have 07 accord
Hey i got honda accord 2007 4d. My car problem is stereo and defogger lines are not working. All grid lines are getting the power except upper three wires which are antenna wires. And at the end, antenna wire doesn’t have the power. So, Should i change the stereo or just fix the antenna wire?
Great video, thanks champ!
Is there a wiring diagram?
Compatible for 2003-2007 models
Does the purple and black goes with the other purple and black?
Thank you this really helped!
Where does the satellite antena go - on the dash? Will the wire hang around?
For the reverse camera do we have to drill a whole for the cable in the back of the car?
Will this installation work on a 03’ accord with navigation system?
I can assure you it does, it had a few more steps for me but I got it done and it works great!
You need to take the old radio out, you do this part by unscrewing the 3 screws under the air vent.
Then you un plug the same cables he un plugs and run them to where you need them to be, while you’re there might as well un do the Antenna as well.
Then once you have those wires all ready to pair you can start the butt connectors like he did and plug the HVAC controls back to where you took the cables out and screw your navigation system/ radio back in. And then you can pretty much follow his steps. Hope this helps, any other questions or unclairities I’ll try to help iron it out!
Got mine working and when I went to insert it into the empty pocket it fell in and some wires disconnected. After reconnecting them I can’t get any power to the stereo. Fuck my life.
Hey dude I have done mine long time ago and its all good and works just fine for my old honda.Question is,can you see on the display anything like aircon if its on or off,coz I might have mixed up some wire and mine does not show anything on screen its dead, but all butons works fine?
So before. Radio would turn on. Didn't put out any sound. HVAC controls still worked. Decided to try this video. Plugged it in, new radio shows nothing, old radio shows nothing. Took the harness out, saw some wires weren't attached. Recrimped them and plugged the harness back in. Still nothing. Decided to plug the old radio back in without the harness, showing nothing, no clock, no sound, HVAC still working. What are your thoughts? Is this still fixable?
After an installation, will the factory stereo still display settings related to the AC unit ? such as temperature or where the air is blowing ?
Based on what he says "the wire harness kills the speaker wires in the factory radio" and based on the fact that you have a harness that still gets plugged into the factory radio and based on the fact that you need to have the display for those to function, everything about this bypass pigtail harness suggest it does just that; bypasses the radio functions only, retaining all the other hvac circuity.
I had the exact same question. I purchased an 07 accord with a CD player installed that LOOKS like this install. Have not seen anything on the original screen and would like HVAC functions
@@jacoby5240 I just did the install. Maybe someone didn't install the pigtail? You'll need to take a look. Install one if all they did was bypass the HVAC and feed the new radio. I just installed a radio with the pigtail and I have all the controls working still. I shorted out the constant wire and couldn't find a fuse for it anywhere. I run a devoted fused line right from the battery. It feeds constant power to the original radio and the new one (yellow wire) to turn on the fact radio (now just a clock) and retain radio settings in the new radio.
Can u put it on the top part where the old radio sits??
I bought this car off a guy and he did the same thing I’m switching it back to stock how do I do that bc it’s not wanting to work anymore
Do you need the Bluetooth mic cable?
You kind of glossed.over the part where you actually plug it in im.not sure how you do that
You mean plugging in the new head unit? It's quite simple, the last remaining connector on the wiring harness will plug in to the connection port on the back of the new head unit. Same with the mic cable and the radio antenna wire.
currently doing this with my mom
My factory radio doesn't even come on. I didn't install the aftermarket radio. When I bought the car, it was like that.
Thank you 🙏🏻
Can you use 22-16 butt connects or it have to be 22-18
I put a jvc kd-sr60 radio in my 2007 accord. It powers up but I have no sound coming out my speakers. Fuses are good. It’s the same radio I used to have in the car. Any help would be great!
Does this work for accords with dual A/C? I can see in the video this accord has the base option for A/C.
Would this install work with a pioneer deh-s4220bt? It looks like the model used in your video is tough to find in stock
Hi, i installed new radio stereo from mechanics nd it's working perfectly but i can't see any info like heating or cooling option or in simple word display shows nothing, when i asked mechanics he said its like this coz we gave all power to new one..but aftr watching your video it's possible to show up light nd info at factory stereo..so in this case what mistake would hv done by my mechanics???
Good video. Is it the same process for a car that has navigation?
Did you ever find out ?? I have a 2005 accord with navigation but it just stopped working so I have to buy an aftermarket radio like this .
Hi I've just finished my conversion and it seems if you unplug the dvd unit for the nav the screen doesn't work. So I've left mine connected and then added the radio as usual
All the AC/heater dials and buttons still function, as well as the alarm system? That is why is it wired through the old radio, correct?
the ring kit that came with the metra kit dont fit the hole to small! the radio trim fits but doesnt fill the entire gaps...looks like shit! any ideas?
My rear speakers aren't working. Any tips on how to troubleshoot??
Do you need to add the Bluetooth microphone? That allows you to speak through "the car" during a phone call and is not necessary for installation if I'm right
I have sound when car is on accessory. But no sound when car is started. Any idea?
Just finished my conversion after a huge ordeal! Some of the connector slots which have double wires weren't soldered correctly causing no power to flow to either new harness plug! Since fixing these the harness works perfectly
I installed mine and it worked for one day and then i hit a bump on the road and it turned off what do u think could be the problem i reconnected everything and still doesnt work
@@cristianperez1120 could be a dodgy connection in the harness or your soldering/crimping! Should try and check the constant and key wires for 12v
Could u briefly explain what you mean
@@cristianperez1120 if you just have the t harness plugged in, use a multimeter and put the negative side on an area of bare metal in the car and the positive in one of the plugs slot for constant voltage and see if 12v shows, and when the ignition key is on check the key wire for 12v. If you haven't got anything showing for either wire then that's why it's not working
Nice video. I've watched several and I think yours is the only one I've seen where the old stereo wasn't removed.
Question, though.
I installed a double din stereo in my son's 07 Accord using the kit and instructions from Crutchfield. Ever since then, the HVAC controls don't completely work. I can't change where the air blows and the backing on the knobs doesn't work.
One big difference between my install and yours is that you spliced some circuits back to the old head unit and my kit didn't say to do that.
Can you confirm if not powering the old stereo also doesn't power the HVAC controls?
With the kit we used, it required to keep the factory heating and air controls as they share power and some data functions. Without the right kit, it may give you issues. Try retuning the car back to stock wiring to see if that fixes the issue. If it does, you need a different kit for the new radio.
@@ProvoBeastAudio thanks for the feedback. I've been in touch with Crutchfield. They're convinced I wired it right, but it seems I'm getting conflicting info between them and what you said. Pretty disappointing since I've always heard how Crutchfield has the best installation support, etc. I'll do more digging.
Aloha. Have a quick question but not sure if you monitor this anymore. Looks like it's been a while. If so, is it possible to hook into the back of the white port on a factory installed Panasonic 39175-SDA-L110 radio in an '04 Honda Accord which also has a factory 6-CD changer and Sirius Radio? Console (Radio) face is 7BK1. All the videos I see simply suggest plugging into a white (Aux port) facing down twds the floor of the car. My radio only has the white port (right next to the blue one) facing fwd (twds the front of the car) on the BACK of the radio. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
My radio screen went bad and I put new battery and needs the code will that affect the new stereo
Why not just get the Seicane full replacement? Has adaptors, plug and play, keep the pocket storage, touchscreen and so forth.
Some individuals can't afford it, so this was the budget alternative.
Idk how to ground it the one that came with my head unit has like a hook on it to hold the screw in. The one that came with the eBay fascia it's just a white where do I connect it on the hook??
All my wires are matched up color by color except orange an my new stereo won’t turn on. How do u check if the yellow wire is good ?? Where’s the fuse ?
a multi meter will be your best friend. Also try turning on your factory radio (it still should boot up, but no sound should play). A multi meter would indicate the yellow has a constant 12v signal, red has a accessory signal (12v only when the key is on), and ground.
Hi grate video I have tryd yo do this but my new stereo dont have sound but powers up all wires are color matched
You may have a factory amplifier that is not turning on. You may need to connect the blue / white wire on the harness adapter to the new radio in order to trigger it on.
Provo Beast Audio Installation thanks mate works a treat
daryl barkle did this get resolved
Quick question, did you have to buy/use a antenna adapter/extension to reach or fit your new radio? Thanks in advance
I would guess one is needed for sure. I have a feeling he doesn't know because he didn't bother with it but it's only a guess based on the fact he didn't show it and based on the fact that they are just barley long enough to reach their factory location as is. My guess is he tried, saw it didn't reach and made the video the way he did as a result lol.
Buy an extension in preparation.
I have done all the process , but I have very little sound , after passing the 16 on my new stereo it has a lot static and not very good sound, thanks in advance for any advice .
Thanks for the tips, this is very helpful 👍👍👍
i just did this exact setup to my 06 accord, did you have a problem reaching your antenna cable to the hole on the radio?
Yep, so we had to pull the radio out to re-route the cable to a better location to reach. See 9:58
How can I have the factory radio not work at all because it drains my battery? I have a pioneer system as well. I took out the fuse for radio and my battery doesn't drain. Factory radio is bad. Help please.
I'm having the same issue
So I have a question. I saw that the radio just slides in and locks in place. How do you get it back out of the radio bracket? Can I just pull my radio out of it? Mine has stopped working and I need to get in there and find out why but I'm afraid I'll break something if I try to pull the actual radio out.
Might have to get removal tools
Does basically any pioneer radio work or does it have to be a certain one???
Can you still use the steering wheel to control the radio?
Would this be compatible with the 05 Accord ex-L with nav ? My nav system doesn't turn on but the air and backlights and everything works. Can't play music or use a/c tho bc it doesn't power on.
the antenna input on my radio is on the side closer to the steering wheel. I can plug in the antenna but when I try to fit the radio into the dash it's very hard because the antenna cable is too short.

Hello there...I have gone through most of the part of your instructions without a problem...so kudos on that! 👍 However I just cannot detach the harness connected to the factory radio. I’ve used a lot of pressure and pulling in different ways but it would not come out. Is there a special technique to pull it out? Please help! Thanks :)
I'm sure you figured it out by now but there's a clip you need to press inward on,in the middle on one side. It's not much more work to just unbolt the radio and remove it. You'll need an extension cable for the antenna and need to do it anyway. With the whole radio swung outward you can get at the clip much easier.
great video , Thanks PB
