I got a 49-56 YEARS ago. It was in the 308. I knew about the slam fire. So, I changed the firing pin for one with a spring! Fixed the problem! I changed the gas shut-off pin with a adj. gas one. No more brass in the next county! Maybe I just got lucky! But it shoots great. The dealer at the gun show had 6 when I picked mine up. The next day I went back to get more, they were all gone!! After shooting it my friend wanted one. And my son wanted one. Sorry about your gun!!!
I remember when these rifles converted to 308 were advertised in the Shotgun News in the late 80s. They were going for $400.00. Back then there was a lot of cool stuff in that rag. MP40 parts kits were going for $350!
I actually got this one for $400. I thoroughly remember MP40 parts kits from sportsman’s guide for $50, mortar kits for $100, M1919 kits with barrels an all for $300 I was unfortunately too young to do anything but absorb knowledge lol
I’ll give them a check. It didn’t have any issues back when we test fired it upon acquisition. It was very strange it didn’t want to feed from the right side this time.
Just bought a MAS 36 😅 I'm definitely going to try and get a deer with it lol. And had a friend that had the 49/56 in 308 caliber and he said it had issues with certain 308 loads feeding properly so definitely something to consider but love the rifles if anything just put it on the wall 😅.
Heck yea! Are you going to reload with hunting rounds or going for a spinal or head shot with fmj? We are just going for a headshot on a doe with this one. We will either ethically drop it or completely miss so we do agree with headshots. The thing that has the host so jumpy in the video and the thing to watch out for is this weapons love to slam fire. It didn’t do it in this episode but the last time it went to the range it was just going nutz!!!!

If I recall, the problem with the feed issues on the 7.5 versions stems from the feed lips being bent out of shape on the magazine.

Hopefully not. Make sure you’re well aware of that muzzle when you rack it. They’ll randomly slam fire sometimes.
