I’m here cuz wendy!
@@heyitsablackguy9553 No she's not lying. She wrote about that incident in her book Wendy's got the heat but she didnt name him then. She just now revealed who the guy was. She wrote that book years ago.
I was 12 in 1987. This track takes me back to those early mornings walks to school, with it playing on my Walkman. New York's 98.7 Kiss FM played this a lot. R.I.P. Sherrick. One of those missed treasures.
WOW!! I can totally relate!! Same story for me but in Dallas, TX on K-104.5... I miss those days and the good music.
Midwin Harris I was almost 9 years old when this song came out. I would hear the song on BET, or a radio station called a.m. 1310KDIA. I wondered for many years who was singing the song when I was getting older. Well, I know who it is now and I have been looking for it forever. I love and appreciate the songs from the 60s all the way up to the 90s. Well, some of the 2000s as well. Some of the new stuff is crap. I bet that you are asking yourself, what do I know about this music. Well, I was born in 78 and thanks to my mother, and grandmother who has left this earth for turning me onto good music. I am trying to get my three nieces into old school music. They love the new stuff that is pretty nonsense. Well, my baby niece believe it or not Love James Brown and she is only eight years of age.
Awww, Kanyanda, thanks for sharing your story. And, your niece knows great music when she hears it. You're the same age as my nephew. He too listens to the same music. We all know good music when we hear it. Like you, I listen to music from the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and early 00's. Music nowadays is just noise. Even some of the younger generation like my 15-year-old niece can't deal with today's music. Thank goodness we have UA-cam, Spotify, Pandora, etc...to go back and listen to the music we grew up on.
Midwin Harris right? Well, like you said we know good music when we hear it. My sister however loves the new stuff. Well, she likes some of the old stuff but every now and then she would ask me why are you listening to that old stuff? I say to her, because it's the best. She is two years older than me and she was born in 1980. Don't get me started on the old-school Gospel. Now! That is the best as well.
Oh wow. I have not heard this song in over thirty years. Crazy how it brings back all of these memories. 😌
Yep when I started listening I quickly remembered how smooth this jam was and how she probably black balled the man back in the day like she tried to do Eric Sermon!!
@@Mister-Reno Iktr Im not gone change the fact that the song was slappin and she trying make the man out to be something but probably putting money in his widow pockets!!!!!
His views are skyrocketing because of Wendy Williams!
And this is what happens when a persons name is mentioned. Even for bad things. You end up HELPING their business. If he really did what she's accused him of why highlight him so that stuff like this happens? Yes he is dead but folks will look up his discography and etc. They'll probably like him and that'll cause the other no goods in the business to make morw money off of him. His family probably gets nothing.
Sometimes all names don't need to be mentioned.
Music of the 1980's and the 1990's was the best era!
+Donovan Fuller Don't forget the 70s, were it all started with (Barry White, Chic, Sister Sledge and many other famous Disco bands)!
Can anybody else agree with me when I say I truly DIG this bass line?!
Wendy Williams caught my attention with this
This use to be my jam. Forgot all about it. Unfortunately, the song is alive again, because of what Wendy Williams said.
If he did that to wendy then he deserves to be a one hit wonder no telling how many other women out there with that same story ugh
This song epitomises the whole soul/jazz funk era in London throughout the 80's at the time. I was a fresh faced 19 year old lad in '87 and this has just taken me back 30 years. God bless you.
I was 17 and just loved these smooth grooves. Someone please make this music again!
I must have played this song about a thousand times, what a great song!
Easily the best singer that nobody remembers. Damn shame! I post this song on facebook several times a year to keep his memory alive.
I have heard this before and Its really Nice smooth great vibe great melody but I never knew a face or name!!
I do too. I just posted it tonight. He could have been a star for decades, still making music today. His range was unbelievable.
Gosh. This is making me teary. SO wonderful. One of my favourite tracks of all time. He should have been huge. So sad.
Totally agree. Just makes you wonder what else he could have released. He could have filled the gap left by Luther Vandross - now we have lost both of them and Alexander O'Neal retires this year (2024). End of an era for sure.
I think that this recording is one of the definitive tracks of the 1980's. Sherrick's vocal performance is outstanding!. R.I.P.
Tragic end to a man with so much talent.
Profound. At least we were left with a gem of a song. RIP, Sherrick
I always loved this track. The bass guitar is amazing. 80s soul was off the chain and this song resonates with my life now.
Man I haven't heard this song in over 30 years.Takes my back to 1987 listening to this on 107.5 WBLS or 98.7 WRKS Kiss. On a Saturday night when they would play The Mastermix.I was 22. Just graduated college and was dangerous.Great memories from then.
Just read the story about the Wendy Williams allegation and through, “Sherrick” sounds familiar. Totally forgot about this jam. I loved the whole album and it took me right back to my dorm in college.
@@Keke-dg6qk sure did. Then she went to Philly on Power 99.From where I was in Southwestern Connecticut I could sometimes pick up that station when the atmosphere would skip the radio waves.
1987, I was 17 years old in NYC and thIs was the JAM!!! 98.7
Yes 98.7 Kiss fm. I was 17 on Long Island listening to this jam. I hate saying those were the days, cause you sound so old saying that lol. It truly feels like a lifetime ago. Kiss fm and WBLS were my stations.
I think he was on par with Luther and was a fantastic singer r.i.p Sherrick.🙏🏾
Bruh, could you imagine Johnny Gill covering this gem!?!?!?! Man!!!! I wish I had a bag.
Some great comments on here - I think we all love and respect what Sherrick delivered here: he froze time for us and for which we will be grateful always. Sherrick you take me back every time I listen to this: a short life you were allocated but I think you achieved eternity with your gift.
Wendy Williams brought me here..
This song has so many 80's synth sounds all over it's too good
I always wished it was slowed down just a fraction, and I'm just they probably argued about that before release...
@@beogreen525 "Luxury Elite - Observatory Deck", it's a slower edit of this song, you can check it out if you want. 😊✌
His voice was incredible, He didn’t get the exposure he deserved, great talent!!
Yes, that is true, but I think that itwas hus drug addiction that aborted his career. R.I.P Sherrick.
@@shondaprice5506 I agree with your deduction. He was just in way over his head. When he finally cleaned up, his body had taken too much of a beating and he didn't last long. Quite a shame really.
This song will forever be in my rotation!!! I love this whole album. This man had one of the most amazing voices!! He sang every song from his gut, heart, and soul. RIP Sherrick
Yep. I still have the 12" & album. This brings tears to my eyes. Still one of my favourite tracks of all time. Omg. SO tragic what happened - he should have been huge.
I was 23 years old when this song hit the charts. Has it been 30 years already? Sherrick was a very talented singer and we can only wonder how much farther he would have gone. He could have been the next Luther Vandross! Such a sad way to go for him, on a beach in the dead of winter.
Wow I miss the 80's great music back then.
It was so fleeting and fast...I woke up and here I am 59years old...I wanna go back I tell ya...lol..I wish we had a time machine
One of the best EVER. Great song, wonderful voice. RIP Sherrick. You won't be forgotten xx
This is heaven on earth. Played it 24/7 back in the day - spring o' 88 when life was carefree
1987, I just graduated high school by the end of the year I was in the Army in stationed in West Germany in 1988. This was the soundtrack to that time for me! Luther, SOS Band, SADE, Prince, Freddie Jackson, Keith Sweat, Bobby, AL B., and My Man SHERRICK! What a time to be alive. What happened to our MUSIC? There is nothing like holding someone you love and having this in the background.
Wow never heard of this guy he does sound good! Actually I like this song😄
What a great song. The hook always reminds me of “Funny How Time Flies When You’re Having Fun” by Janet Jackson. I think it has the same chord progression. Love it. Sherrick had a great voice.
Classic 80's song love it
In this song, the Oberheim DMX and Yamaha DX7 ROM-3A patch “Bass 1”, ROM-2A patch “Cowbell” and ROM-3A patch “Electric Piano 1” were heard.
My guy stay with the instrument identifications. I see you everywhere the groove is, Playa 💯🎶🙏🍻
Here because of Wendy Williams, but man.. I used to love this song when I was younger. WJLB and Midnight Love took me to sleep every night. Still remember every word. I miss the sound of this type of music. Instant nostalgia!
That Quiet Storm!!!! My grandma had a radio in the bathroom that never turned off, so we always had music playing!!!! Good times indeed!! 💯🎶🙏
Oh my god! This song still sounds amazing 30 years later. ❤
I was a fan of this song to back in the day but... Finding out that he was the singer that actually raped Wendy Williams in her autobiography movie of her life I'm disgusted! 😡👎🏿 if he was still alive he would definitely cancel his class C fame 🙄😏🤨
My jam when I was 11 in 1985♥ I used to play this 7" vinyl record out!!! Brings back great memories - love it!
The volume won't go loud enough!! What a cool tune.. takes me right back.
Still have the cassette of this somewhere.........great music never dies, truly great artist .....RIP Sherrick.
Takes me back to late summer, 1987 in LA. I had just watched James Bond The Living Daylights at the Chinese Theater. I got the hook from the AHa theme tune stuck in my head and was going to head home and try to play it on my Yamaha DX7. I turned on the radio in my car and this song starts playing. I missed my turning, and just kept driving along the coast into the night, listening to this incredible song.
Actually, I was born in 1989 in a different country, but this song has a powerful feel to it that takes me back to a time and place I didn't even exist. Can't stop listening!
Outstanding song. I am so glad to hear this song makes me feel. I love hearing this song when I am with my dear love SH. And want to just relax. This is grown folks music. Such a soothing song. I just love it. This is a masterpiece and a jewel 💎 that will last forever.
Fantastic track. The best era for music. :-)
One of my all time favourites. Just pure class
I have searched for this song for months now; I finally found it, thanks so much for uploading! 👏🏾
Listen to centerforce 88.3 on a Sunday. Dj Steve kite plays all the old funky soul, much of which I hadn't heard. I'm in England but it's a worldwide broadcast
Heard it the first time today listening to the Donnie Simpson show!
This was the jam!! Such an under rated artist!! RIP.
A classic that can never be forgotten. Been looking for this tune for years, but didnt know the name until now. Good to know many men & women appreciate good tunes!
True classic I heard it on the radio today I remembered this record I was 19 years old when it came out the golden eras the 80's
Brilliant!!! Love this song!!
That bass line is infectious, love the song as well.

How can you dislike this absolute classic piece of artwork in the musical form. 🎼
Daaamn
Big time voice. Great song. Unfortunate backstory. RIP...
Heard this song back in the 80’s loved it instantly and love it still today- just superb!❤️
Songs like this compelled me to seek true love in my life, and I have certainly been blessed with it... the words are heartfelt
sherrick gave a master class here. RIP

Fabulous track. From start to finish.

R.I.P. Sherrick (July 6, 1957 - January 22, 1999)
@@mustlose20pds he died wendy didn't speak in past tense about him n I never heard of him or this song
@@beb5407 yes his body was found under the Santa Monica pier. I lived in Santa Monica and had no idea his body was found where I used to jog. He was actually a Sacramento native.
Wow I can't believe i stumbled across this i was like 11 in 1988 hearing this in the Compton swap meet on vacation seeing my folks in Cali never knew what he was saying i thought he was saying you can win me over back than and I could never find this song or the artist at first I thought it was Gerald Austin or Jeffrey Osborne lol 😂 what a nice jam 🎸
Brilliant, just bought a new compilation with this track... It never grows old
I have been looking for this song for years and finally found it today thank you so much for posting it.
This sound is so 🔥
You'll never ever be forgotten Sherrick, serious tunes.
Played this 3 times in a row timeless classic had to comment twice
Classic track i will always remember this track....sad loss in 99...😞
Peabo, Luther, Howard, Freddie J, and George Duke-esque...yeah baby, I'm soooooo digging THIS VIBE! JUST CALL ME ❤📞🥰🎶 🤗
The lyrics, the music, the vibe! I wish most men still loved romantically like these songs. #BygoneEra
Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it ❤️
Song was and still is fire.
I love this song. Brings back some good memories.
Here after bumpin Stevie Wonder’s “Go Home” track... I’m a ’91 baby but I would’ve loved living this era
Pure class !!!
This is one of the greatest songs of all time. Amazing. 👍🏾
i was 17 when this came out. it made me fall in love.
Absolutely love this track ...
I always play this at parties and everyone loves it Sherrick is cool

Absolutely brilliant song ... what a voice!
One of the soundtracks of my youth. A great anthem. One hit and it was enough to define a decade
Damn this is a good song though and he could sang...but def only here cuz of Wendy cause she said "Sherrick" and i think the world said "who?"
Another one to add to my playlist.
Bought this in a soul pack in the 90s and fell in love with it 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wow,I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB in 87-88 when this song came out
What’s hella weird is that I came here because of Wendy Williams, but now I kinda like this song. 😧😪
Man... I was 9 when this came out. I remember my mom and older sister would stare at the tv when this song came on. Lol hmmmm... Nice tune though.
Yeah, because he was so sexy, had big Cruse on at 16 yrs old loved older back then.
Was my jam in high school! RIP Sherrick
Heard Gilles Peterson on BBC 6 Music drop this - had to hear the full thing! Just superb stuff.
Sing brother sing I'm 59 and my bones are aching but I'm rocking still tune tune tune ❤
Had this release on cassette. The Good 'ol Days...🎶
Great love song, great artist...RIP
I see I’m not the only one who came here after Wendy Williams allegations. His views about to skyrocket.
Right! I couldn't remember who he was, had to refresh my memory..
And I like the song though A LOT...makes me feel like a kid again in the 80s
Yep 🤣🤣
Wow , he was a demon
Exactly! 🤷♀️🤣
