Freddie was a demon, Jason was a glorified zombie- and other horror killers usually have an unreal aspect, while Myers, if memory serves, was just a really menacing serial killer- so the reality of his character is what makes him so terrifying.
What makes Michael Myers the most terrifying slasher villain is the unknown. The other killers have explanations: Freddy is a supernatural dream demon that wants revenge on the people the killed him, that's why he kills. Jason (at a certain point) is a zombie with mommy issues that kills anyone that comes to his camp. Ghostface has a personal vendetta against whoever they're currently stalking. But with Michael, you don't know why he kills. There is no motivation. There is no reason. This is why the original Halloween is the best and the scariest, because it offers *zero* explanation as to why Michael is killing. If you look at the rest of the franchise, the more a movie tries to explain Michael, the more it takes away from his presence. The less you know about the Shape, the more terrifying it is.
