Thanks for the review. I need to replace my bestop and was thinking about going with the master top but after watching your review, I'm gonna be staying with the bestop.
Bestop makes the OEM soft tops for Jeep. Also, they're made in America. Mastertop says they're made in America by people that used to work in Jeep's soft top manufacturing department (funny - Bestop makes them), use high quality American supplied parts and materials (do a little digging and the "American supplier" is just a warehouse for Chineseum junk shipped from overseas). Long story made short: if you want a quality top, there's only one choice. Bestop.

I have the Best Top twill top on my TJ, which I upgraded to from a Rampage sail cloth top. Overall, I love the top. It's far more insulated, much tighter fitting and much quieter. On the downside, because of the super tight fit and the small teeth of the YKK zippers, I've had some problems with the zippers binding (even with regular cleaning and zipper sauce) and have had to replace one of my side windows under warranty coverage on account of a failed zipper which separated from the fabric. With this experience in mind, I'd still purchase the Best Top on account of the overall quality and excellent warranty support. My warranty window showed up via UPS less than 5 days after contacting Best Top. I have a Master Top Master Twill Summer Combo Top on order and am looking forward to comparing the material and workmanship with that of my Best Top when it arrives.
@@calebdorsey7591 The Master Top Summer Combo? It's great. I'd totally recommend it. It's 3 pieces: Bimini Top, Toneau and Windstopper. The Bimini top is really easy to put on and fits very snugly, especially if you have your door surrounds in. I definitely appreciate that extra bit of length and shade in the Bimini of a Bikini top. There's a little flapping around 30-40 mph, but at speeds above and below that it's quiet. The straps and buckles for the Bimini and the Windstopper are tough and I didn't have any problems keeping things snug. The Toneau is even easier to put on and take off. I didn't time it, but I bet it's under 3 minutes. It uses the tailgate bar from your soft top to fit tight against the tailgate. I was surprised at how well it kept water out, though fine trail dust makes it in around the velcro sport bar surrounds. The Windstopper is awesome. No more tailwind-tornado in the cab. Even with the window zipped down the cab is much calmer and quieter with the top off than ever before. Because it attaches to the door surrounds, it doesn't leave a gap between the sport bar and the door for wind to come through; it actually stops the wind. There's a belt line flap which hides the zipper connection between it and the Toneau and helps to keep the rain out. It takes about 10 minutes to put on and I've no complaints on the install or removal. With all 3 components in place the cab feels pretty sealed up; even in light rain. The quality of the twill is very good. It's slightly lighter weight than the material of my Bestop full twill top, but that's to be expected for a summer top that's also less expensive than the comparable Bestop package. The rear window and it's YKK zipper are good quality, though I think it would be nice if Master Top offered an option for a tinted window and/or a mesh window screen for the Windstopper. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the whole package and would recommend it to anyone else considering it.
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by rear roll bar stiffeners. If you're talking about the after market roll bar bracket that attaches to each roll bar behind the head of the rear seat then no, I did not have that. I had the stock roll bar and stock Mopar soft top frame so just whatever parts that comes with and I don't recall any rear pouches in either top.
Keith Crandall, my pleasure. By the way, I've had the Bestop on ever since I posted this video and at freeway speeds (70 miles an hour) there's hardly any flapping at all.
I think my previous purchase on a replacement top was a Bestop, going to stick with them again after seeing your review, thank you.
Glad it helped, thanks for watching!

Appreciate you making this video. You helped me make a decision... not to go with Mastertop!
Thanks for watching.
Have a Rugged Ridge sailcloth top, pretty good, snare drum tight.

Thanks for your review! Informative video.
Were your rear roll bar stiffeners in either top? Did they come with the stiffener pouches?

I think he’s referring to the plastic pieces that go inside the rear corners of the factory soft top. My LJ has them and it makes a big difference.
Is it a vinyl or twill?
Both tops were vinyl.
Thanks for the info!

That's made in mexico quality for you.
This is not the twill material, or so it appears to be vinyl.
Correct, both tops are sailcloth material, which (to my understanding) is a type of vinyl.
That doesn’t fit right I would have returned it.
I did return the Mastertop after I installed the Bestop.
