They didn't even need actual Secret Service agents... regular deputy sheriffs could have handled that roof top. This is pants down around your ankles level of failure.

I think some of the woke workforce complaints are overstated, but in this case, it's warranted. It's absolutely insane that the Secret Service director said that she wants a more diverse workforce and to be 30% female by 2030. The ONLY consideration should be "is this hire the best person to protect the person." We shouldn't care about anything else.

    • @apokatastasian2831

you're almost there paul...just wait till you realize that "woke workforce" is actually the mechanism to purge the government of competance and install activist loyalists. and do it in a way it's easy to deflect criticism as misogynist or racist

      it's bioleninism

    • @vlo4829

But that's why SHE became the director. Also, incompetent leaders usually prefer less competent subordinates so they are never outshined. "Qualified", "Experienced", "Expert", etc. are all the types they try to avoid hiring, so diversity works well for them as a replacement standard.

Why do you people always try to drag women down? Then you in the same breath claim we have equality. No we don't. And 30% is still not equal.
I'm against making that the priority over competence. But I don't think it's a bad goal to try to make this society more fair for women. Look at Simone Biles. You think she couldn't hold her own if she was trained for this?

The fact that it wasn't is absolutely astounding.
A 10 year old could see that leaving it unattended by law enforcement was a tremendous vulnerability.

    • @Pacmon0

I agree so mindblowing it looks like Secret Service wanted Trump shot, but more likely incompetent organization plus no investment in protecting Trump, since they are DC types who socialize in DC circles. Could be friendly with FBI types. Look at DC culture in general, how the non violent J 6 protestors were jailed on felony charges based on a document shredding case (Sarbanes Oxley). They were not tried by a jury of their peers, but a jury of DC lifers.
They are not the level of top private security. No private security would even consider DEI. Why have 30 percent women by 2030? We could see she was too short to protect Trump with her body and then could not holster her gun.

The Deep State (yet, that's real, there are indeed unelected powers pulling the strings decade in and decade out) and the Democratic party. Think about it. All capitalist systems become totalitarian states. AND imperialism abroad leads to fascism at home. To transition away from even the illusion of a "free society" requires an inciting incident to inspire enough panic in the proletariat that they will accept "temporary emergency measures" which then become permanent. Freak out the Trump base by "attempting to assassinate him." Then they react in anger and fear toward the Democrats. Both media factions spin "civil war" to inflame the tensions. Democrats in turn also feel like they're under threat, as they've been convinced for 8 years that Trump and his voters are all Hitlers. DNC announces a Biden "win" in November. Everyone knows it's shady AF. Republicans revolt. Democrats claim this is even worse than January 6 (which we know was engineered by the FBI). One there was another elevated position facing directly in front of Trump which might have taken priority. Two they are looking at far out threats. Forth the USSS isn’t god nor is any agency that most you and others seem to think everything is locked down.

When evidence other than circumstancial comes out - then we can start pointing fingers at a wider conspiracy, but otherwise it's just conjecture.
Here's a question: If it's a wider plot - why is the triggerman some pasty 20 yr old with his poppy's rifle? Why wouldn't he disguise himself as police on that roof? The most Spirit Halloween-brand cop costume would've bought him enough time to let a couple accurate shots off.
My point is - if it was a conspiracy, why was it such an incompetent conspiracy? Oswald was at at least a marksman.

Oswald had almost 2 days before that loose end was tied up. In this case, it was tied up in mere seconds. Truly hard to believe the police snipes could have reacted so fast unless they were already pointing in that direction before the attempt....then why didn't they see him? Thirdly, The perp had no social media foot print? Please, this is probably the most ridiculous part of the whole scenario.

In fairness to the Secret Service, there were many, many agents on the ground in Butler who did their jobs and performed them well. This was not a failure of the rank-and-file agents on the ground. This was a failure of the Secret Service leadership on the ground, and the Secret Service leadership in Washington, DC. The failure to have security personnel on the nearby and obvious line-of-sight building rooftop falls on the Secret Service detail leadership, not local law enforcement. At a bare minimum, the senior agent-in-charge was responsible for ensuring that a local law enforcement officer was assigned to the building rooftop. As for the Secret Service leadership in DC, the politically tainted leadership changes in recent years are well known -- there has been far more concern about diversity of leadership than competence of leadership. As a result of these fundamental failures, one American is dead, three were critically wounded, a former American president was wounded, and the American presidential campaigns have been thrown into turmoil.

Yep, I think they do need to realize that not only are loners like me not particularly easily found online, but these sorts of initiatives that use quasi-constitutional methods of gathering intelligence just make us more and more wary. I'm not personally interested in engaging in any criminal activities, so I do have some presence. But just using different names on different sites makes collection more complicated, especially if you're using an offshore VPN or tor for any actual posting. For each individual like this that does actually plan on doing it, there's probably hundreds of others that are just private people that keep to themselves. Having to correlate all those accounts together in order to figure out which ones are and are not threats is always going to be expensive and time-consuming.
There's a reason why so many of these sorts are "loners" and "quiet" and seemed "a bit odd" and "harmless" it's because the folks that don't are high enough profile to be prevented from doing it in the first place. And simply being a bit odd and quiet isn't itself a crime.

Before the Kennedy Assassination, which Oswald did NOT commit, Robert Kennedy was working to have Special Forces Soldiers, Green Berets, to be trained up to take over the Presidential Protection Mission. In retrospect that was and is the best choice, professional elite Soldiers instead of bureaucratics.

In the past, when it primarily male, they have been known to hire prostitutes when traveling aboard with the President or VP and having parties.
    The Secrete Service needs:
    1. A real leader
    2. A lot of oversight
    3. Some dripline and to be held accountable.
