Any drummer with a decent understanding of musical structure can foresee this song in such way he did. It follows a classic rock structure, there are no surprises there. 95% of all rock songs follow this exact same pattern, so even if you never heard the song, you know what’s coming. How do you thing jam sessions work?
I have been doing this in jam sessions for many years, and I’m not the best drummer. This is no sorcery. You people need to come back to reality.
And no, I’m not saying Chad is a bad drummer. He is one of the best. But some people don’t know much about music and yes they have to make comments on it. It’s frustrating.

@@dxb8086 Where's your video bro? I have watched dozens of drumeo videos and nobody came close to Chad's ability to hit on the first take. And I fucking hate Anthony Keidis' voice so I am no Chad fanboy.

@@dxb8086and who tf are you? Oh yeah, nobody. The pressure is different for Chad Smith than it is for you, Mr nobody. He knew this was going to be posted and viewed by millions of people, and he has a reputation that he must uphold. Performing great under pressure is what separates a great professional musician from an amateur like you.

Chad Smith is one of the greatest drummers of all time. Arguably the smoothest, in the groove drummers of all time. He literally could play with ANY BAND and make them better

Great reaction video. I’ve watched that video of Chad at least 20 times and still get chills every time. He is a beast on drums! And a great human too 😍

You should check out Larnell Lewis, a jazz fusion drummer, doing Enter Sandman. Never heard it before. He listened through the first time and honestly watching the “active listening” and how he is able to start anticipating what comes next is the best part.
He plays it and although in the beginning he is a little tight, he then starts having fun and it is magical. This is also the same dude who got a call to join a band and learned the entire album on the plane ride to go record with them (Snarky Puppy).
Or watch Michael Jackson’s drummer he used for all his live shows from 83 to his death, Jonathan Moffett play Thriller, Billie Jean, basically anything.
They also had Nick Collins (Phil Collins son) come in and do it also. He’s been playing live since Phil can’t anymore due to health problems.
Honestly can’t go wrong w/any of them.

A drummer kind of has a 4 track midi recorder in his head (2 arms + 2 legs) and listening to a song he will recoding the 4 channels in a repeating scafolding structure within anbout 4 - 12 bars. He then will have worked out a feel, (genre) maybe assigning it to some song he already knows that a desent overlap (50%-80%) . He then starts replaying the 4 tracks and stats jamming it in and refining and /or improvising on the scafolding now in place. The more you do this, the easier it becomes probably as part of your early musical learning experience as it gives you ability to play with other musciians as you have to listen & play at the same time with the others around you adjusting all the time

amazing reaction. this version is awesome. as a longtime 30 sec to mars fan (listened to them waaaay before he became as famous of an actor as he is now) it's always so funny to watch these reactions and to hear how surprised people are about Jared being a musician. I highly recommend listening to them and watching him sing live. he's incredible. talented actor but in my opinion he's a way more talented musician.
