Israel spend a lot of energy to protect civilians. There are no (very few) casualties just because of that. Hamas and Hezbollah launched far more rockets than Israel did. Israel protect it's civilians, Hamas deliberatly exposses their civilians. The equation is simple.

Lebanon was flourishing a middleeastern Paris, with primarily Christian arabs.
