- Lance Lambert talks to Earl Rubenstein at the Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo, CA about this unusual, one-of-a-kind vehicle. This is a short segment from a longer episode of The Vintage Vehicle Show.
That's not a Car -- It's a work of Art!💕
I guess 13 years ago they didn't know how to show the interior of vehicles. Would have been cool to see.
My grandfather was 8 when this was made and my son is the same age now. The car still looks futuristic.
the interior was a disaster so we decided not to show it as there wasn't anything to see
@@vintagevehicle ok. I hope you get it all fixed up. I'd love to see it.
Such a cool car.
Beautiful ! The Fageol ( Twin Coach ) Company made beautiful streamlined buses too ! From 1946 - 1952 . GOD bless you !
The Fageol Supersonic is still around, and was in 2009 owned by Robert DeMars. In 2009 Robert loaned the car out to the Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo, California. By then the propane power plant and original chassis were gone. Sometime after the 1953 featured story the innovative power-plant was changed out in favor of a Twin Coach six cylinder bus engine.
I am a life-long Hudson enthusiast, collector, and historian and I did not know of this car. Great video and info.
One angle. "Very futuristic minimalism in fotografing". Full thumbs up!
would have been nice to see more.
some hefty proportions on this Car! (2 Miller engines, that expalins the massive front hood!)
years ahead of its' time.
Porsche's vision a decade earlier.
Looks to me like Muntz got his front end design for his Muntz Jet off of this car.
It looks a little like a Muntz Jet
Very unusual, futuristic, and great looking car from 1939. I like it!
Note to self.... If i ever win the lottery 500k goes to this car
Solidly 15 years ahead of its time.
Phantom Corsair aka Flying Wombat in 1938 film Young @ Heart.
john Rhodes cobb was the Man back in 1939 he built a car and went 368 mph on the salt flats
25.02.19 - Wonder if the restoration ever started and got finished?
A lovely car. Yes, this one really needs to be restored.
The only question is in what form should the restoration take?
Original or after it was converted to the street.
I know I'm being harsh, but these "rest-modders" will hack and defile anything. They often have zero sense of history. Nice save!
The hood, fenders and headlights set the trend for the post war Ferraris.
Too bad we don't get a rear view of the car.
im guess this car doesntturn very well because of the wheel cover on the front and it doesnt look like there is alot of space between the wheel and the cover
A 1930's car that looks like 1950's car? It looks like the designer of the car far ahead of their time.
Are they going to restore the straight-8 engine, I assume then?
Do a tour of nethercutt mueseum... each of those cars are driven once a month
Joel Wolfe Thorne! Haven't heard that name for many years.
Thorne Eng Specials for Indy!
Leave it 'as is"....keep your hands off the original.
I agree... especially with one-offs. If you have the money to perform a worthy restoration, build a worthy replica.
I want to see the car not you two talking all the time there's no pictures of the car more than 2 seconds bad interview
I would love to have the chance to restore this car!.
Bumpers are cool
LOL,....1939..? Unbelievable....very...very...nice..!
Looks like it's from the 60s.
I'm sure it will end up in Jay Leno's garage soon enough...
1/2 a million dollars to restore. Give me a break.
this is from the 30s? looks like its from the 50s! so when we think about it the " traditional basic car shape" we all know of today been actually concept for like 80 years!
super sonic.....................
cool
The porsche panamera grandpa
?
0:16 0:19 i was thinking i was gona get hit by a car lol scared meh
Jaguar E-Type headlights?
I would think ol George Barris ought to be inclined toward some kind of deal with you fellers.
What engine used for another decade?
I really can't understand why they plan to get so much money just to restore a car 10 or 20 thousands would do a nice job
they're planning it on a government budget...
Lafayette Mitchell
maybe one of them is a previous congress member lol
when this is happened ? 1929 ?
Seattle super sonic
What a waste of money! The thing looks ok as it is. But that's America for you!
It's from 1939 dumb kid.
Doesn't take 1/2 million to restore anything, just a lot of work and the very basic of tools and supplies. I did a motorbike all the way through last summer, its just a lot of patient work, nothing more. Nothing requires gold plating or diamond studding. Best to just do it as a hobby and take your time enjoying doing it.
The Ur-911-er.
WTF would take $500,000 to restore on this car? It looks like maybe 60-and-out to me, and that's if the interior is s**t. They're going to take the body off-frame, yes, but it's HUDSON running gear, for Crissakes, nothing unique.
I watched one of Jay Leno's Duesenberg videos and he said one guy was $300,000 in the hole JUST on some engine work and I thought that price was insane!!! Sounds like a lot of over inflated budget bullshit but the restoration shops know they can get it!
🤝👍👍👍👌
I guess this guy is not that good at explaining him self -they are going to restore the car to the way it was originally for 500,000 dollars why I don't know just build a replica and leave this one as is.
Do you know anything about Replicas and their collectibility?
Ryan Adams Yes I do and original is original and a replica will always be just that--- why interpret history as we understand it today when we might find more info tomorrow .. get it
2022
Gee looks like a cartoon car ....
looks like a jaguar t
