What's more beautiful than the knife making is the way his hands look ... The hands that create masterpieces ... Bravo !!! Especially Damascus steel ...
absolument sublime, l'armonie entre le damas et les ondulations de la lame, la précision et la régularité des creux et des coupzq dans le manche sont à tomber par terre
Those tools you made to make a fluted handle are 100% awesome! I must make it next time! Thanks a lot for sharing those tips! Amazing build Matt! This kris dagger looks phenomenal!
2 kris renditions?! The bevels! Making the dagger in general is probably tasking enough, add the waves and you're talking precise geometry. Excellent work!
Beautiful! The pattern on that blade geometry makes it look like an optical illusion! :) Great work and video man, I'll be making some of the tools you showed us before my next fluted handle for sure!
Thanks man! I appreciate you checking it out! I got the idea for those tools from ABS mastersmith Steve Culver, they were a lifesaver for sure. He has an in depth pdf article about handle fluting and jig building on Google. The guard bending jig idea I got from Jerome Anders, he made one and used it on his ABS master test dagger.
Sweet build. It is definitely in the top 3 for me. The flamberge sets it apart from the rest. I love it. I tried my hand at it too as a viewer and making these daggers is not easy. Fit and finish is really the hardest part for me.
@@Mysticmountainforge thank you. I greatly appreciate it. I hear in the video you were on forged and fire while talking about the all thread which by the way is how i attached my pumble as well. Mind me asking what episode of forged in fire that was? I would love to go give it a watch.
Really nice build, Matt! That flamberge had to be a pain to grind! Beautiful outcome. Btw - I always weld on all-thread onto my tangs, including in my dagger build. It's plenty strong. 👍🏻
Strength aside I find it much faster to forge a longer Tang then grind down to quarter-inch and thread it. Then again if your forging by hand that may not be the case.
It's something I have been working on more recently, I would like in the future to forge and thread the tangs instead of welding it, the all thread was the fastest for me on this build due to my inexperience. Thanks for watching, I greatly appreciate it!
amazing build Matt your dagger is gorgous alot of time to do im far away from trying to make 1 yet hopfully in the next year ill have enough experiance to try what season and episode were you on FIF? good luck in the voting Mark 😀👍
I had actually planned on doing it right at the ricasso but my stencils showed up too late to do it. I am actually doing it soon as this dagger has no epoxy due to the fitup being so tight, so I can take it apart and do it. Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
It's Kris in the western use and Keris in the native tongue, considering this is not a native-style Indonesian weapon I chose to go with the western name, if it were a traditional style weapon I would use the proper spelling. Since there is some confusion though I will remove the word from the title and just keep the fact it's a flamberge.
The typical shortcuts as you call them were necessary for the preservation of the pattern, if I forged the blade to shape I would have distorted the pattern completely ruining the ladder pattern, the method I used to create the blade is no different than those used by ABS mastersmiths, you forge the tip and forge the tang then grind the rest. If I had went with a mono steel blade like 5160 or 1095 I would have forged it to shape because I wouldn't have had to maintain the uniformity of the pattern. I appreciate you watching.

@@Mysticmountainforge cool thanks gonna see if ive seen that 1 also FIF is filmed in my neck of the woods CT i belive stamford ?
A crest or makers mark between pommel and blade … missed opportunity

Did you do a video of you forging the ladder pattern?
No hate, but that pommel does like like a butt plug. Nice work one of my favorite builds out of the dagger contest
I knew someone was going to say that lol, it's a dagger to give pain and pleasure to the right person lol. Thanks for watching I appreciate it!
😂😂
If you can forge this kind of shape,so you can forging Indonesian ancient weapon named KERIS. Would you try it brother ???
Let me test it for strength. You can test one of mine at the same time
Kapan Apa nih
Keris not kris
