i enjoyed the video. I also Agree with Nicky too these entry level keyboards are becoming synths. I also feel that someday the e383 will get knobs and pitch bend. and the future e483 will have 4 knobs and even sliders. as time passes on. the E series will function like little motifes etc.
So I have the predecessor PSRE463. And I was looking at the midi reference to both the PSRE463/PSREW410, and the PSRE473/PSREw425 e keyboards. and one thing I noticed about the two later models, is that they also can except CC82 for general purpose button 3 toggle, and CC83 for general purpose button 4 toggle. I wonder what these two buttons do? Because I'm thinking that one of them has to do with the articulation and the other one for motion effects.
That’s a good observation, you should experiment with it. See what you got assigned to those buttons like maybe a change in modulation speed - let us know what happens :-)
@@gearfacts Sadly I do not have a PSRE473. I cannot afford one do to tough finances and inflation not helping. And besides, the PSRE463 was a Christmas/Birthday gift from my family in 2020. That is why I was wondering if someone else had any ideas about those two CC controls that maybe they could chime in.
I do know that the PSRE463/PSREW410 models do not let you control modulation speed. Only modulation depth with CC01. And that in turn is artificial vibrato. The speed is hardwired into every sound patch. Some are slower and some are faster. Usually if a keyboard or midi sound font would give you full control of the artificial vibrato, it would be: CC76 for Vibrato Rate, CC77 for Vibrato Depth, and CC78 for Vibrato Delay. (Delay meaning how long after note strike before the vibrato kicks in.) Also I call it artificial vibrato because the note that is doing the vibrato bends up above the original pitch of the note, and then back down below the original pitch of the note. Verses say on guitar, the player bends the string above the original pitch of the note, and then releases the string back down to the original pitch of the note. And the only to imitate that on a keyboard or virtual synthesizer is to use the pitch wheel or to just add pitch bend messages when doing midi programming. (Sorry that I got off on a major tangent.)
@@gearfacts as the PSR-EW425 & PSR-E473 could sample and have all those effects the DJX & DJX-II both had, they definitely 💯 remind me of those classic keyboards 🎹. Should be either called or nicknamed DJX-III..
I hope when Yamaha introduces the E383 they will include more Live, Sweet and Cool voices and also change the other mediocre sounds in there like the electric guitars sounds, synths, considering that there are still a lot of voices that are bad. Also make the articulation velocity based not button based. Tyros is old enough to be trickled down to PSR-Es.
Yes I agree. They've improved every other feature of this series EXCEPT the sounds, and with Casio's clearly-superior AiX sounds system in its 5th year now, Yamaha is really going to have to do something. Or they may just decide to rely on their name, which would be a bit uncool :/
Hi! Bought this keyboard recently. I'm trying to load style files (.sty) from a USB stick in to it, but get the message "nofiles". Can you help me out maybe?
To everyone who are planning to buy EW 425 or E 473....I had purchased the keyboard a week back. I was using E 453 before. My advice to everyone....don't buy this keyboard. Really disappointed with the quality of the same. Reasons 1) The first tone...Live Concert grand piano which is the primary piano tone is horrible...it is very thin as a sample and you can't edit it as the problem lies with the sample itself.....the second tone which is Live Grand Piano is way better..it is pretty fuller and acceptable. 2) The speakers are very poor and less louder ...you need to keep the volume at 85 to 90 percent ....the voice coming out is pretty average. Now they have given a button call MEGABOOST which can increase the volume which increase all the frequencies...it has level 1 and level 2....once you go to level 2...the voice distort.....this is so stupid...why will you do that....instead the speakers auto should automatically be powerful and stable enough to do that specifically for EW 425 which is said to have stronger speakers. 3) The build quality of the keys and off on button is the worst...cannot believe it.....yamaha is degrading the quality of the keyboard...it looks like 4) Lot of voices present in the keyboard are too thin and these cannot be edited or usable....specifically the Live Concert Grand piano This is the most genuine feedback you will find on any website.....these youtube reviewers won't tell all these flaws since they are paid by Yamaha...it looks like......my E453 was way better overall
Nice demo. Makes us want do something creative, but it's Good Friday, so no music, no TV, A day to meditate in silence for a time. Happy Passover!
Yeah we went out to the forest, it was perfect :)
Great review! I have had my e473 almost a year now and it's the best keyboard I've had

I think 💭 the PSR-Series of entry level keyboards 🎹 are becoming more and more like 👍 Synthesizers.
Yes, and long may it continue!
I agree with you too.

Are the STY files in the root directory?
@@gearfacts Yes, they are now. Also I changed the filenames with no spaces etc... It works fine now
