I watched this video for cleaning one of our rollers in our church printer last year, and now I'm watching it again since I've only done it once. Highly informative, easy to understand, and overall great video! Thank you for making it!
We had some serious streaking. With help of your training video, cleaned all charge rollers. Worked for a bit, then had to clean a couple more times for just the black charging roller. Lesson -- Hadley has it right; if it doesn't work the first time, clean it a couple more. That did the trick and ... we are ever so grateful. Thank you so much!!! Hard to find techs on a Saturday!
I have an MP C4000 so it wasn't exactly the same but good enough to allow me to clean the charge roller and stop the streaking. Thank you!! This video was super helpful!
I have a Ricoh MPC3003 and I cannot figure out how to access the drums to clean them. I can't find any video or imformation online about how to get to the drums on the MPC3003 and I'm a bit stuck, any help would be appreciated! Thank you and great video.
So you know where it can purchase the charge roller unit only? The cover for it fell and the plastic brackets that hold the rollers in place broke. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing this information. Our Ricoh mpc2000 prints again without strips. Also the non reacting touch screen cold I recalibrate. Again Thanks! Kees van Breukelen The Netherlands.
boa dia Hadley Hudson ! muito obrigado pela sua ajuda com sua informação , este produto TOTALLY AWESOME ,pode ser usado para Limpara os ROLOS de CILINDROS e LÂMINAS de LIMPEZA Também ou não ?
This video worked great with my C4500 copier. Do you have a tips on how to do the C4000. The drum unit is different and I couldn't figure out how to get the roller out to clean. Thanks
Hi! I have a few questions if you don't mind. We need to replace the roller you clean with the window cleaner and the foam/spongy roller (removed from unit at 1:04 in the video) for all 4 colors on our c2500 unit. Can you tell me the exact name and/or part number for those two rollers? I have seen several online, but not sure if I'm ordering exactly what we need. We have terrible streaking because the foam/spongy roller is disintegrating. It's holding a ton of toner and when we try to clean it, it's just crumbling. The roller you clean with the window cleaner, has been cleaned and might have some life left, but we for sure need the other roller. If you know of a place to order that is reputable, please include that in your response as well. Thanks so much!
+Erika Z Sorry to say but if you find one it will NOT be a OEM (original) roller. Generic rollers only cause problems in my experience and you cannot find the original manufactured charge roller sold separately anywhere! Your best bet is to order a black PCU and watch my video to modify it for color if need be.
I am a 30 year dealer tech. Some of what he is saying is true. The "black" roller he is talking about at the end is total bunk. That was a different roller vendor which was used in the drum manufacture. "Black" does not mean drum is worn out. A true test is the appearance of the drum, it should be shiny like a mirror, if it is starting to dull from wear or poor paper, you can clean the charge roller as much as you want, it is only temporary fix, problem will resurface after a few days or hours. Writer "Dizzy Ink" Good luck with mpc3003. It is quite a disassemble to get those chargers out. I can about guarantee you will wreck the drum trying and those are expensive drums even for vendors.
I am a 34 year dealer tech. All of what I'm saying IS true! I did not say the PCU was worn out if you have a charge roller that has turned black. I SAID that it is probably a good sign to replace it! They WILL turn black as PER the OEM CHARGE ROLLER (NOT GENERIC) at the end of this video! "scanner lanier" is talking about a generic rubber charge roller that would never see the inside of my shop! As for a MPC3003, I would not suggest trying to clean the PCU for they are nothing like the PCU in this video! I just love it when you put up a video to help people and there is always someone who thinks he know's more! LOL
Sorry, didn't mean to step on your toes. However we are trading in some of that old series that still have the black OEM charging rollers in them. I think it was when Ricoh switched from the B223 to the B224 drum series when the change occurred. BTW I have never seen a tan or gray charger get solid black, a customer would have called long before that ever happened. Take care
Yes, the newer style PCU's are more difficult remove completely. Just remove the charge unit with the two screws on the bottom of the PCU and clean charge roller while still in the charge unit.
hello thanks for the video after i did this my printer started printing white completely (especially when i print black and white ) when i print color it comes out well please any action to do ?
When I pulled the assembly out of our printer (2000), it was dropping black powder like crazy. I blew some of it off with compressed air, but it seemed like there was always more. So two questions: 1) Can you tell me role of the drum? 2) Do you have any ideas as to what all the loose powder might mean? Depending on your answers to those two questions, I suppose we may need to replace the drum.
+Benjamin Carlson= Toner all inside of machine most likely is Developer unit needing to be replaced. After it wears out the toner has no where to go but inside of copier. Developer unit should last about 250K and Drum about 120K.
Not worth changing just the charge roller. You may be able to find a charge roller separately but it will probably not be OEM. Just replace the whole drum unit and you will have a much better result. Check my other video on replacing.
Any kind of glass cleaner will work just fine. I was using a degreaser called Totally Awesome. DO NOT use something strong like acetone or lacquer thinner.
sir i have problme with toner detection would you like to help me plz .... i changed toner bk n now machine mpc3000 not dectecting properly ... may b there toner pump issues so would you like to help me plz .... i m waiting for your favorable responce ... ...
I have a video on how to replace the toner pump on MPC3500 that is very similar. However, on a MPC3000 it is more difficult to get to the toner pump hose. I recommend you leave the hose and replace the pump. Also, make sure you open and close the front door several times to give the machine a chance to load the new toner you installed. Other possibilities: 1-toner tube has a pinch in it 2-System/CopyFirmware needs to be higher than 1.59 3-do SP5-801-002 engine clear in service program mode 4-make sure all doors on machine are closed
Nice illustration. Sir I am from India, and mostly deal with Ricoh copier. Do you deal in Ricoh 2011? I would like to be your friend on Facebook or Whatsapp,if you don't mind. Thanks a lot for your video.
Actually the best and longest lasting fix is to use a strong solvent of some sort and a scotch brite pad and scrub that 'tan' coloured' coating right off down to the white nylon surface like a "scratch ticket". Been doing it for years. PLUS...you are WRONG about the Black roller that you argued about with "Scanner lanier", because that surface DOES NOT scrub off! It was simply the first generation PCR's (charge rollers) that were used on the OEM units. FYI..... CAR Wax is the best thing to use on that style

Thank you, Hadley H! Worked like a charm. May you and all your kin be richly blessed this new year!
This worked like a charm. Hadley is a savior and friend to all copier owners.
I have an MP C4000 so it wasn't exactly the same but good enough to allow me to clean the charge roller and stop the streaking. Thank you!! This video was super helpful!
Yup, the newer PCU's come apart with 2 screws and snap out. I guess I should make a video for these. Glad I could help!
Is this the same for the MPC3003
Ty a lot, it worked like a charm! Here in Argentina, money exchange is killing us, so, changing the unit, its not an option for us...
Thanks Hadley - Worked perfectly and got rid of the blue streaks we were having!
Very huseful! thanks! i solved my streaks problem doing like this.
you did a great job, and i wana know if the black OPC drum is the same as the color drum on the ricoh mp c2500, please answer me

Hi! I'm having problems with my mpc 3003, did you find a video to access and clean the drums?
Add toner conditions are usually toner pump issues. I believe I have a video on how to replace.
Thanks for your sharing. I am working in charge roller manufacture, We need to learn how to repair the machine.
So you know where it can purchase the charge roller unit only? The cover for it fell and the plastic brackets that hold the rollers in place broke. Thank you!
Thanks for this video mate, it is very helpful!

+Hadley “Copydoc” Hudson Thank you for your prompt response! Can you recommend a place to order the black PCU from?
We have a c2050 model and it looks quite different on the inside. Do you know how to adjust for this model?

Agreed!
where can I buy a replacement roller? do you sell those?
How about to open out the mpc 5000 charge roller....the charge roller without c clip...so very hard to take out...with proper..
Yes, the newer style PCU's are more difficult remove completely. Just remove the charge unit with the two screws on the bottom of the PCU and clean charge roller while still in the charge unit.

Sorry, I can't help. I don't know exactly what you did or how. If I had some examples that would help!

Hi, so I dropped the charge roller and it broke do you know where I could find a replacement for just that piece and not the whole drum?
Giovanna Severino You cannot find a OEM charge roller separately. You should just replace the PCU.
Thnks for the video
