My late Mother, Maureen sang this hymn when she was young in a concert and years later we were carol singing for charity together in Heuston Station Dublin with my musical society. Mam stepped up to the radio mike and sang this to the people in the train station en route to and from wherever they were heading for Christmas. She was triumphant and amazing and somehow I'll always associate it with that very special moment. And I'm certain I'll one day see and hear her singing it should I be lucky enough to get to the New Jerusalem. RIP Mam.
Such a BEAUTIFUL SONG!! I can remember hearing clear back to the fifth or sixth grade, sung by a man with a beautiful tenor voice!! The wonderful memories of worshiping as a child, 55+ years ago!! WOW!!!
This takes me back about 25 years to when my dad sang this song at our Christmas service on year. I still have the sheet music with all the notes as scribbles of how we practiced. What a memory!! Thanks and God Bless you for this lovely inspiring piece. My dad has passed on but this will live in heart forever.
One of my very favorite Easter song! Thanks for showing the background of Jerusalem. It is so meaningful and one fine day, I shall visit and sing all about this Holy City!
As the bus jostled gently down the road, someone began playing this song over the P.A. system. We looked out the windows and there before our eyes was the city - Jerusalem! I can never here this song without remembering that special moment.
+2peter1v2 that had to be a very special even for you. The Lord blessed you, be thankful...go to this one and the city will descend upon you: Baritone Pierre Gardy Fontaine..then there is one with a trumpet that will blow you away too, the choir, young Chinese male and female...
Really enjoy the Irish Tenors performance of this beautiful piece which invokes great memories for myself - we sung it so often in our homes with family and friends, complete with my grandpa conducting us all❤️ The tempo is spot on in this version - IMHO!
Always liked this hymn or music and find it very majestic - the three tenors did a great job with their interpretation. The photos depict some of the most holy places found in Jerusalem. Thanks Shirley
Great voice! Thank you for the pictures. My dream and prayer is to go to Jerusalem. I was blessed with your great voice and enjoyed the pictures of Jerusalem, Mount Olives and the churches. God bless!
The composer whose real name was Michael Maybrick is quite a mystery. Extremely talented, he was a freemason, involved in sex scandals, and along with his brother James (poisoned by his own wife) are both serious suspects in the Jack the Ripper murder events.
Remember the first time I heard this majestic song was when George Beverly Shea, who was with The Billy Graham team. Over 50 years ago and still everytime I hear it ; it brings goosebumps.
+Donaldson Helen It is alleged that Rev. Graham said that lots of the people who came to his events just wanted to hear Bev sing. He was certainly good at it.
1 Kings 11:32 But he will have one tribe, for the sake of My servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen from all the tribes of Israel. Matthew 16:21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. Zechariah 14:4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
Please remember it's about OUR LORD ITS HIS LIGHT THAT WILL GIVE ALL LIGHT TO US SHEKINAH GLORY LIGHT IN THE TEMPLE WAS STORIES WERE THE PRIEST COME NOT ENTER BECAUSE THE VERY PRESENTS OF OUR SAVIOR AND CHRIST WAS SO STRONG THEY COULD NOT ENTER
Chrissy, this is one of my favorite songs for Palm Sunday through Easter, I'll always love our sharing the hymnal at your mother's memorial. Always know how much I loved her. And how much I cherish you. Please let me know if you are in Duluth how we can meet. I'm up for it.... Love always, Nana
Would the poster ever correct the title to The Irish Tenors. These are not the Three Tenors (Pavarotti, Domingo, Carreras). The Irish tenors were JohnMcDermott, Anthony Kearns and Ronan Tynan and others too. But there is a big difference between the "Three Tenors" and the "Irish Tenors". So correct you title then.
+mary jane Prouty And it will probably never be corrected and a google search still brings the wrong tenors on top of the list. I wonder if the "Three Tenors" ever sung Jerusalem? Despite the mis-naming of the the tenors, I like this song and the Irish Tenors version of it.
it is called, The Holy City. maybe if you look for that name, you will find it. The song, Jerusalem, is another song. hope that helps. also, the name of the composer will help.
I am so touched my heart is at peace each time i hear this Hymn My one wish is to go there before i close my eyes 👍🙏Gid will make a way where there seems no way Amen🙏Thankyou Lord for these awesome singers 🙌🙌

As a devout atheist I can yet say this is one of the most inspiring musical creations of all time ~ and will last for all time.

Thank you for the song and the video. Very very touching.

Thank you Alfred.
One of my favorites. Love it
Thank you and good luck with your singing.
Glad it brought you fond memories of your dear Mom. This song is very beautiful and very powerful. Regards from Malta and thanks for your comment.

This is a truly classical composition. It is beautiful and solemn. Glad you liked it Maria and thanks for your apreciation.
This is the hymn that celebrates the Palm Sunday and also Easter: both of which are party to the ultimate story of Christ and His message.
Tuhan Yesus berkatilah kami umatMu, jangan tinggalkan kami, ampunilah dosa dosa kami,..
thanks john - it's a solemn composition and the three tenors sang it nicely.
Thank you...i like this song.
+Mauce Malang this is fabulous but Carreras, Pavarotti and Domingo are better in my view.
+Millie Karnop
Thanks a Lot.. Millie Karnop....
may God Bless all of Us.
Shalom.

Despite the mis-naming of the the tenors, I like this song and the Irish Tenors version of it.
+mary jane Prouty Two of the Three Tenors could of course be Irish too: Lucian O'Pavarotti and
Placid 0'Domingo. :-^
I would like to know where can I purchase Jerusalem by Imagine. could you please help me as I cannot find the dvd anywhere. thankyou Sandra snyman
it is called, The Holy City. maybe if you look for that name, you will find it. The song, Jerusalem, is another song. hope that helps. also, the name of the composer will help.
A real ripper!
was written by Michael Maybrick, pen name Stephen Adams, possibly Jack the Ripper -
jack the ripper? why would he be jack the ripper?
Could also be Lord Lucan.
Jerusalem is a beautiful city and i like it and i love it and want it and desire it but i am american sorry! hehe
Best version is with great Solomon King. He alone substitute
all three tenors ( or Irish tenors ) !
I am so touched my heart is at peace each time i hear this Hymn My one wish is to go there before i close my eyes 👍🙏Gid will make a way where there seems no way Amen🙏Thankyou Lord for these awesome singers 🙌🙌
This isn't the Three Tenors, it's the Irish Tenors.
These are not the Three Tenors. Maybe 3 other men with not too bad voices. Definately not José Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti!
Too fast, the song should take a minimum of SIX minutes !
This isn't The Three Tenors; it's The Irish Tenors.
Elizabeth Phillips So you caught that too...good ear!
