Great interview Jasper.Thank Martijn doing this. U know April Rain was my first song video in bad time in my life. I'm older at 56. So whatever song play is great Martijn. I love Delain seen them in Phoenix Mesa Nille Theater last September 23 of 2023.I also have tickets for up coming Phoenix Mesa Nile Theater on March 7 on Start of tour 2024. @@BelgianJasper so hard to choose only one! I’ve been a fan since Lucidity! Remember being 16… 17 and listening to the cd on my aunt’s cd player, so… I’d have to give you at least three: Combustion, Not Enough, and Beneath 🤍 But the list is way longer than that. Combustion, even though there are no vocals, is one of my favorite songs of Delain, ever!
Speaking of 80s... If you could do a fusion of synthwave with symphonic metal, to get a good Delain take on that genre, not sure if I'd be able to handle it. Would something like that even be possible???
@@BelgianJasper Gotta be Gunship (first 2 albums are more 80s, IMO). Or Carpenter Brut. Ugh thats a hard choice. CB is def more metal-y though. So those 2 for vocals-based.
This new era of Delain blows any old Delain stuff right out of the water. The line up change was the best thing that could've happened. Every new song since has been a serious hit.
Better than 'Masters of Destiny', better than 'The Gathering', better than 'Here come the Vultures', better than 'The tragedy of the Commons', better than 'Scarlett', 'See me in Shadow' ???????? Really? Blown out of the water . . . . . HHHmmmnnnn ??
@@Gavin1502 Yes. It's fresh now. Love it! oh and lets be frank. Martijn wrote the music of Masters of Destiny, Here come the Vultures, and Tragedy of the Commons. His co writer Guus wrote The Gathering (I checked the credits and interviews). So let's give credit to the people responsible. Still currently the active songwriters in Delain.
@@FrankHaastra If they were "blown out of the water" they wouldn't still play so many of the old songs live. There are actually 33% less songs from Dark Waters on the setlist now than there were a year ago, yet all the oldies are still there. I like them both, they're all great. And yes Martijn wrote almost all of the music minus his collaborators etc., but it is always worth remembering the contribution of Charlotte on many of the lyrics which many of the fans connect to. It's entirely possible to recognise the legacy old members left while also liking the new stuff. Not everything needs to be a toxic tribal competition.
