This $189 Seestern Is A GAME CHANGER For Affordable Watches!

- Seestern have been releasing incredible affordable watches over the past year, and this new Seestern S434 is their tour de force. Part Glashutte Original SeaQ homage, part Wolbrook Skin Diver homage, this skin diver is changing how I perceive affordable watches, and I'm sure it'll have the same effect on you too.
I don't just think this is the best Seestern watch to date, this is probably the best dive watch under $200 period. It's time for other watch brands to catch up. I hope you enjoy my Seestern S434 review!

I actually love the two tone one yours! It reminds me of the Oris Diver's 65 bronze bezel I have. I not only wish they would have used a larger crown, but a standard stainless steel one as well. I think it would have toned down the blingybess a tad. Overall a great looking watch!
I love that bronze bezel Oris Diver 65, and I’m sure it’ll be in my collection one day. That watch was part of the reason I went with this colour way! You’re spot on about the crown, I hope they consider that for a v2 release. 🤞🏾
It’s a great time to be an enthusiast of affordable watches!
Omg, one of the best reviewes I've seen, the watch helps but... Shots are incredible and the entire speech is perfect. Congratulations for an outstanding work my friend
Wow, thanks a lot! That means the world to me. 🙏🏽
Such a great review. Thank you for being so thorough!
Thanks so much for watching!
Wow! I ordered mine last week, if it is half of what you have said I will be happy. Can't wait to see it. Your video was great, thank you 👍
Hope you enjoy it! I have a feeling you won’t be disappointed 😉
Great review! Nice shots of the watch!
Much appreciated!
Awesome review as usual bro! That black two tone looks amazing
Thanks a lot man! This watch made me realize I love black and gold.
This two tone is just enough to make it interesting.
Agreed!
I've bought 3 seesterns 1 doxa 2 62 mas. All aligned no problems anywhere. Eye-catching level of finishing
Thank you for really nice review, great job!
Thank you for watching!
This is on top of the wishlist!!
For good reason!
Of course you would have done the research to know this design was used by numerous brands back in the day. Most people think it’s a straight 1:1 homage of the Glashutte. Design aside, probably the best watch for the money, full stop. Thanks for the review!
I agree, the design is not my favourite, but I can't argue with the absolute quality of this watch. Thanks for watching!
Hi Harvind. Excellent quality video as usual. There is no doubting the quality of finishing on this one but just goes to show that personal taste can still steer you away from great quality. I can see you really are smitten by this one but surprisingly I am not. BUT there is no denying it has been put together incredibly well :)
Thanks as always, John! To be honest I’m not the biggest fan of this look, so I almost didn’t review this. But I can’t deny that the build quality and execution is incredible. I still prefer to wear ‘boring’ watches like my OK Pelagos 39 in public, I don’t think I have the confidence or wardrobe to pull off a two tone like this. 🤣
I was itching for a black and gold watch in a more subtle presentation (I.e., no two toned bracelets) saw this and was waiting to see a review of this specific model “in the metal”. Yours has put me over. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! I think that’s what won me over too. It would have been a hard pass for me if the bracelet was also two tone.
Another great review! This watch definitely has a lot going for it. Personally not a huge fan of numerics on a diver, but these look very good. Very tempting considering the price.
Thank you! Me too, but this was a nice change of pace from my other black and white divers.
Another great review. Id definitely be looking at one of these watches as my next. Looks great but I agree with you, the crown is a tad too small.
Thanks for watching as always man! I hope they fix that in a v2, it’s the only thing I feel they can improve here.
Good Review ! 😊
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Your review is as well done as the watch…bravo! Very eloquent.
Thank you kindly! I really appreciate that.
I love this watch! But I will likely go with the blue and gold. Seestern has really made a great name for itself in a short period of time. I have two of their Doxa homages and I will be adding this one during the next big sale!
Great choice! It was difficult for me to choose between this and the blue/gold. They both look gorgeous. I haven’t tried their Doxa homage, but I’ve only heard good things about that.
I have the blue-gold. Go for it.
I have the black model - indeed it is an *incredible* watch: everything about it surprises me with the attention to detail it has been given. The finishing is beautiful, the indices and hands are perfect to the naked eye. The bezel action is fantastic. The crystal is unique in being oh-so-slightly domed; at first you'd mistake it for being flat. Even better, the exposed edge of the crystal (just inside the bezel) catches the light, adding more visual interest. Even the display caseback (which I'm so glad they did, I love seeing the movement, even something as boring as an NH35) is very well done. And to top everything off, they included an extra strap for me - a very well made fabric/elastic strap which is super-comfortable and looks great. While it's clearly a copy of the SeaQ, the SeaQ is itself a copy of the Spezimatic from the 60's, which itself was a copy of the Wolbrook/Douglas diver from earlier in the 60's, so there's plenty of horological history to go around. The big watch review channels really need to be paying more attention to Seestern - this watch surpasses everyon'e favorite, San Martin, for quality and value.
I'm happy you found it as incredible as I did! Seestern is making waves for sure. I think the bigger watch channels will be giving them much more attention in the near future.
I recently got the blue stainless version. I agree, the quality level is great.
Glad you're enjoying yours!
Very nice revue as usual, thank you very much. This watch is superb. The proportions, the design, the shinning, the date of course, love this piece. The first impressions, looks like a luxurious watch. Very well made. I prefer hi beat movements, but don't problem. NH35 is for life . Warm regards
Thank you! I agree, if you hide the brand and ask someone to guess the price of this watch, few would guess it’s in the sub-$200 range. I’d have preferred a PT5000 here too, the smoother sweep and thinner case would have made this even better.
My seestern monster is flawless! I love it very much!
My seestern GS diver homage had lots of issues like a light bezel a misaligned insert and a cheap clasp. I fixed the bezel and the insert, i replaced the clasp with a fully milled one. But there are some misalignment issues in the dial itself.
Id still wear it as a beater but im disappointed with it.
This one is gorgeous! But i wish the crown was bigger and overall a larger watch. I have an above average wrist.
Good to see seestern improving, cant wait to see what yhey do next because the pelagus clasp was a disappointment as well..
That GS homage sounds like a lemon, strange how there are so many QC issues. Glad to hear your Monster homage is flawless though! This watch wears bigger than a 39mm because of that narrow bezel and wider dial. I think it would look great on wrists up to 7.5”!
@@WristWatching dammit now I'm gonna have to get it! Lmao
This two tone works so well, because the gold is used nice and sparingly. I love it
I agree! This is the best way to approach two tone IMO
I pulled the trigger on a black and guilt version. It is very well made, and matches my San Martin for quality. As a sidenote the finishing is as good as my Yema Navy, Rado Captain Cook and Tissot Gentleman which cost at least four times as much.
Incredible to know the finishing holds up to those much pricier watches!
A game changer indeed, lovely watch
Thanks for watching!
I have the same black/gold one, and it’s fantastic. Such a great watch for under $150 (sale price)
Great choice! The sale prices on these are just daylight robbery. It's incredible how much watch we're getting for under $150.
Great looking watch. I always liked that wolbrook. Didn’t notice before you mentioned it, this looks similar. Do you know if this of a direct homage of anything? Great review buddy.
Thanks Eric! I think it’s a homage of the skin diver look in general, but the closest watch of that ilk it’s homaging is probably the modern Glasshute SeaQ.
I love it! Not a surprise, I'm a big fan of the original one. Especially the one with rose gold case, with a rubber band (it's stunning, really!). I wish Seestern does exactly this one (but I don't believe it 😢).
Thanks for this great review 👍. You seem really enthusiastic. Is it better than the Proxima px1697?
Just saw that rose gold model, it looks beautiful! I prefer the looks and comfort of the Proxima, but the quality you get with the Seestern for much less money is incredible. I guess it really depends on which style you prefer.
@@WristWatching yeah, I'm in love with the rose gold model 😅.
Interesting. I guess the Seestern has a better quality-price ratio.
But I have the Proxima and I agree with you. So confortable and what a nice looking watch! It's my daily 😊
The Seestern is definitely on my (far too long 😅) wishlist.
Good night.
@@XjohnjohnX88 The Proxima is a gem, I’m glad you’re enjoying yours! I feel you, I think we all have wish lists that are waaaay too long haha 😂
almost avoided imbalance by using even numbers for numerals. Almost. I thing what would save this dial is black date wheel/white numbers.
Got the ST2130 Sellita movement version with the onion crown and boxed sapphire, running within COSC when measure it with my phone, with 0.1ms beat error, I'm blown away by it.
For me it's better than the SeaQ that it homages. It's smaller, has a better dial balance with the white date and the entire beezle is lumed. It also lasts through the night and has pretty identical preformance to my Seiko Prospex Solar diver.
Guess I lucked out with zero QC issues. Only negative thing I COULD say, is that the machining on the inside of the solid end links was rough. (Not on the watch, but on the bracelet).
So I wetpapered it down a bit, to insure it woudn't scratch up the case.
Seen the real one in a boutique window in Germany, and have a extremely hard time wrapping my brain around how it's 2% of the price of the Glashütte Original SeaQ on a rubber.
Glad to hear you're loving your Seestern! Wear it in good health, it's a cracking watch for the price.
I am waiting for blue/gold two tone. Seestern logo on the crown would be better then S.
Good point, the logo there would definitely work better. Hope you enjoy yours!
I love seestern content
You and me both!
Definitely a great time to be an enthusiast of watches from ALL countries!
Hear, hear! 👏🏾
I pulled the trigger on the model 435 in full S.S. blue. Price, $200 on AliEx.
For that price, it's hard to beat. Enjoy the new watch!
That looks amazing though I doubt I'll ever be confident enough to work a 2 tone
The struggle is real. I wear my more ‘out there’ watches at home, and my ‘boring’ watches in public 🤣
@@WristWatching Who knows maybe one day we'll both take them out for a spin.
I would like to go out on a ledge and try a Chinese watch like this. I’ve had other micro brands such as Smiths Everest and Lorier Neptune. Are you able to compare this to any of those regarding finish and quality ? Also, I’m all for two tone!!! Thanks for the review.
Good to see a two tone fan here! I haven’t had a Smiths or Lorier, but I’ve had Steinharts that are probably the same quality as those. The top Chinese brands like Sugess, San Martin, Proxima and Seestern can definitely hold their own. I’d say they’re about 90% of the quality at 1/2 the price. Just avoid budget brands like Steeldive, Pagani, etc.
Could you compare the quality and feel of this Seestern to the Proxima PX1697 that you also reviewed? Beautiful video and content, thanks!
Thank you! Very tough comparison as they’re different watches. The Proxima’s slimness, comfort, and movement are better. I also prefer the cleaner look.
But the Seestern has a better bracelet/clasp, bezel, and feels more solidly built because of the extra heft.
@@WristWatching thank you!
I would also love to see that comparison video. 😊
Make it and they will come.
@@EricsEverydayWatches Would have loved to do it, but I don’t have my Proxima with me anymore. 😞
Seestern have come up with a version 2 which features a bigger crown. Better news still, they have recently issued a S435 with a different crown (bigger), a top hat crystal and a high beat movement (Seagull ST2130)
Guess that’s another watch in my cart for the 11/11 sale 🤣
@@WristWatching I received mine yesterday, and I will put this one in my basket...
@@joostkiefte7683 Haha can’t go wrong with another one!
Forgetting the price, what would you pick between this and the baltany retro diver?
I’m torn and confused between the two
That’s a tough one because they’re very different watches. If I had to choose, I’d go with the Seestern because of the great bracelet/clasp and more refined dial.
@@WristWatching I was thinking the same! Thank you for confirming my thoughts
@@akashisora6583 no problem, enjoy your new watch!
The tiny crown is a deal breaker for me.
At least you'll get to learn some finger gymnastics
Apparently they have updated the crown now to a bigger one
@@Gary-li7ib just saw that too!
I have this and love it. I don't like the gilt and got the green. The hands are excellent and the mix of applied numbers and batons are excellent. I'm looking for a solid case back to replace the one on. That is the only thing that ruins it.
I do feel like you went totally ovet the top saying that it's luxurious. Take the Certina skin diver it's only 800 and it's nowhere near to that. For 200 it's good value. It shows how SanMartin and fan boys are Delusional and that's about it..
I don’t know what it is, something about the gilt just made it feel luxurious to me. I’m not saying it’s a luxury watch, it’s just how it felt. I don’t get that same vibe from the more neutral colours, I guess I’m a sucker for gold! If you find a solid case back for this, let me know. I’d love to replace that too.
You make great videos and visual cues my friend. Don’t make me buy this. The deal is insane right now. 😉
Thanks so much man! You can resist the temptation, but if you really want it, now’s a great time to get it. 😉
hommage, right? cause ive seen this model in other brand...maybe longines
It’s a homage to the Glashütte Original SeaQ
I ordered one a month ago. I've been tracking it since then. I'm starting to think that I got dooped.
Where did you get yours from? If the package goes missing, AliExpress will normally give you a refund.
Double the fit and finish on the average $1500 Seiko, and there's no room to argue about it. Modern Seiko QC and fitment are shitttt.
As a Seikoholic, that saddens me, but it’s the truth.
I just hope they don't push the price up with the gushing praise you and others give it it has happened with San Martin. These are important to a lot of us because we can afford to pay for them but if they shoot up we can't. We have a 20%sales tax to add to the price in the UK
I feel you, I get hit with 23% VAT here in Portugal! I don’t think they’ll increase their prices too much, they’d lose a big selling point if they price themselves in the same bracket as San Martin.
I too live in the UK and ordered a sugess which was 200 pounds. How would I pay the tax you mention on this item ? Thanks
Just got the black version today all steel....NOT Impressed. Watch seems nice but the bracelet is a POS! the tool that comes with the box looks and works great....except not ONE screw will back out of that bracelet to allow you to size the bracelet. that's why they include that uber cheap cloth bracelet...not because they're being nice. the Steeldive hulk I got had it's tool and pushed out the pins no problem allowing me to remove two links on each side for a perfect fit. clasp seems nice but BFD if you can't size the bracelet. Maybe I got screwed Pun intended Now you know purchase at your own risk!
