I love you apostle Denis,I always watch you online right from gulf of Persia.May the Almighty God continue using you as an instrument for bringing light to his sheep.
In our journey of spiritual progress, we have 2 mortal enemy to combat: SIN and SELF. In our younger days of zeal and ignorance, we focus our strength and energy in spiritual warfare on Satan and demons but these are lesser evils than sin and self. This is because Satan and demons can only terrorised our lives because twin evils of SELF and SIN have opened the door and gateway to grant them legal ground and access to our lives. The serpent will bite when the hedge are broken( Ecclesiastes 10:5) In the earlier stages of our spiritual progress, we only bother with " obvious sins" like lies, drinking, murder, immortality, cheating etc. As important as dealing with these external obvious sins are, they are not as deadly and corrupt as the internal "hidden sins" of bitterness, unforgiveness, envy, jealousy, competition, schism, party spirit, anger, malice, pride, impure thoughts, fears, doubts, anxieties, worries, ambitions, unbelief, guilt, critical spirit, depression, stress, distress, sorrowful spirit etc. We are likely to look at people with obvious sins as sinners and condemned them while wallowing and suffering from the these internal hidden sins. We become like the pharisees who wash the external cup while the inside is full of decay and corruption. In God's estimation, SELF is more deadly and evil than SIN because SELFISHNESS is the root of all SINS. By experience, it is easier to be delivered from sin than from self. Although we were delivered by both Self and Sin on the cross of Christ, but we do not experience these deliverance at the same time. Our sins are washed by the blood of Jesus when we received our justification in Him and this is instantaneous. But we can only be delivered from self when we daily deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow Christ which is our sanctification. This is not an instantaneous but a continue process. So we die daily to self in order to allow Christ to live us. This is the secret to our spiritual progress and maturity. Selah!
