- Great song covered by a great band. Never rehearsed...it was in our DNA. NO ONE had the courage to cover the Stones or Beatles at the time. We were naive and didn't know any better. We had never played in the Bay area as a band before, and no one in the club knew who we were and didn't know any of our original material. We broke the ice with this song, Roll Over Beethoven, and She Loves You. They got it after that. Recorded by Russ Gary (Look him up) in the Wally Heider Mobile Truck. This is just a monitor mix. In the truck with Russ were two friends and fans of The Wackers, Doug Clifford and Stu Cook, 2 members of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Russ engineered their records as well as the Wackers first LP, Wackering Heights. None of the 3 sets that were recorded that night were ever released.
great version...love the background screams midway through...loved the increased tempo at the end...what else can I say except that it brought back a lot of great memories...a special band...thank you Bob Segarini and all the band
An excellent cover! As is Roll Over Beethoven.
These Guys were great..The Dudes too.
We pretty much did Elton John's version of this when he first hit the US and released a live simulcast LP of a NY FM station performance. Like Bob sez, no rehearsal! For some reason we seemed incapable of functioning at that part of the "how rock bands work" tutorial. We'd obviously all listened to the same stuff--how we used that made us a great band! jes' sayin'
The wackers I remember hearing them on the radio and thought that the Montreal boys hit the big time. Brings me back to those summers that lasted forever. Keep the faith. ?
Eureka! (pun intended :D ) Any unheard Wackers tracks are super welcome for this fan. I know I've seen them play a Stones tunes or two in Montreal.
never heard it before--sounds great
