HMack clearly freestyles to the level of his audience. If he notices someone catching the bars early on, it energizes him to go bar-heavy and start dropping crazy references and double entendres. On the contrary, if it's for someone who doesn't speak English well and it goes over their heads, he switches to easy topics about what they're wearing, etc. The ability to feel the level of audience and make them feel good while doing whatever he wants with the freestyle on a fly is what makes him incredible.

I noticed a few times when he rhymes the scheme involving breating or meditation or similar he puts the flow into a slower rhythmic breathing "in -out" tempo. I think this has 2 benefits, firstly it helps his brain come up with bars that match, kinda living the music. it also adds to the impact of what hes saying for the listener. Its those subtleties that especially translate live because people dont notice whats going on because its in the mix.
