I've been trying to play this one on and off for 20 years. This has to be the best version of Magnetic Rag I've have heard, tempo and clarity spot on, bravo.
My favorite Joplin rag. This is a great interpretation, with the right tempo and the right expression. The best rendition of this rag I've heard in 20 years.
A truly superb performance Mr. Westcott. I have always loved 'Magnetic Rag' as it was one of Scott Joplin's final compositions and I daresay that you certainly captured his spirit, as I have read that he struggled mightily due to his own declining health. It is my understanding that Scott Joplin intended for this final work to express the meaning of his own life, and you have delivered exactly that with your fine keyboard work. Thanks very much for sharing this with everyone.
The second time through that dogfight o_o when he did the dual pitch in the melody, wow. I just about dropped my glass of water. That takes serious skill.
Great performance. Not too fast like Joplin is often played but rather slow enough so that the texture of this wonderful music is transparent.
missed the last one, which is played two times… you know.. the blooming part, so beautiful a peace.
Absolutely beautiful...thank you so much 💙
Much love to all 💙

I can truly feel your soul. Absolutely amazing ♥️
Lovely, my favorite. Meaningful. Thank you! And yes... that duo melody line... more please! Thanks thanks
I've watched dozens of other pianists playing " rags " of all descriptions and Bill's interpretation is the best IMO.
IMO it is the best interpretation, together with the interpretation of Frank LiVolsi.
Damn that's some incredibly skillful playing.
WOW. Very well done. This is a hard one. Never could get those last couple of pages very well myself.
Wonderful performance sir!

What a great interpretation! This is very reminiscent of Joshua Rifkin's version. :-) Your version is very elegant and graceful as Joplin should be.

Hi Bill!
I just wanted to ask you, is it true that you taught little Steve Vai, and Joe Satriani in high School?
+Daniel Rojas I came here for the same reason.
Died in 2010

I like the way you play this piece! I hope you'll listen to my interpretation on the harpsichord!! Our tempi are quite similar.
Elite beard by Mr. Westcott
Nice interpretation, except that this guy missed out the repeat of the "melancholy" part which is a shame.
this man taught joe satriani
beautiful
