I think they would just rebrand and create other platforms that are similar. It's very hard to put a stop to the social media as long as internet exists.
I always said cellphones, computers, and social media are the downfall to society. People no longer no how ro communicate or hold a conversation. I'm older now, but I used to live going out and meeting people and have a few drinks. It was a great time to meet the opposite sex.
I'm 68. I grew up in the 60's and 70's. Spent most of my life in Vegas. And let me tell you. I was content back then with no cell phone. No computer.
Modern technology aka social media has corrupted society so much. Kids get lost in it.
Same here, I'm 62 and grew up in So. CA, but at 14 yrs. moved to Vegas. I was well protected and felt safe and secure growing up, and the only worring I did, was right before "That Test on Friday" in school. We lived through 'THE LAST GREAT DECADE' in America.
I’m only 28 and even I remember a time before social media. I was a young teen when MySpace came out, but there wasn’t a “showing off” culture like there is now. Nobody rented a Lamborghini to take a picture back then, we just had cool profile backgrounds and music playing when the page opened. The young teens I see now honestly worry me
I’m 47 years old, married and have 3 teenage kids. I’m from Los Angeles CA. My vote is to shut down all social media (instagram, Facebook, tik tok, etc.). I would not want to shut down the internet as a whole though because we can read articles and books online which is educational.

Social media has destroyed childhood. Young teens are so vulnerable and impressionable! I was bullied in middle and high school for being the "smart girl". There were so many nasty rumors circulating about me ..of which I was not aware. But being active in youth civic projects kept me safe and sane. Being in "your" age group now, I have grown children and grandchildren. It is much worse for the grands than it was for me! Social media for those under 18???... I say GET THE H¢££ RID OF IT!!
Like most things: it starts in the home. Restrict screen time. Bring back the art of communicating face-to-face. Learn how to deal with assholes in real life. Be better parents.

I'm 31 , and social media to me was humor and entertainment to make others laugh. Now it's just narratives , pointing fingers , and hostility. I'd say ban social media for teenagers , and toughen up these kids so they won't be sensitive.
We’re close in age, remember sitting in middle school contemplating how much a tool like Google will advance our society and knowledge? Remember being fearful at how much smarter the future generations would be over you? Contemplating how much more advanced the kids would be when you retire? What jaded fools we were, and so wrong too. It’s crazy man. Just crazy.
The generation with a library in their pocket but refuse to use the information, or worse yet, the information is misused towards them.

Social media definitely has changed childhood! 💯 Going outside with friends playing sports and riding bikes around the neighborhood was a big part of childhood back then! Without social media we would have more of that still! Ban social media you got my vote!

I like social media, but I don't get carried away with it. I use it mainly for looking up information
about history (love history, love learning about it) and finding information about something specific things like gardening .
This podcast may not get as many views as your guy's other stuff, but this is a very good content and very important stuff, so I hope you continue to do it even if you cut down on the number of episodes, this stuff is great

Social media has been a net negative for society; especially kids. We are designed to be in relationships with other humans. Social media has broken that. And like you mention cyber-bullying has become a serious issue.

I'm on the fence here. It IS a double-edged sword.
My problem is, I'm one of those "regular folks" that tends to believe things from what appears to be reputable sources, but turns out to be BS.
Case in point: I was about to do a Google search for something the other day, when a news item popped up on my feed..."We're deeply sad to report the sudden, accidental death of actress Sally Field...fall from balcony...click here for details." Well, I clicked, and it was just a short bio of her life and career. Nothing about her supposed "death." So I went to the comments and immediately read: "This is BS! She's alive and well!"
I don't understand how people can get away with this (?) Do these people somehow profit from readers clicking on their post? It's despicable!
Control over tools vrs being at the whim of those using them on us.

You guys are true gentlemen!! It is nice to see that. Social media. is good for games, movies and only talking to your true friends and for knowledge. Children should be supervised and even me from phony websites. I thought I was talking to a real movie star, but I got let down because he wasn't the real deal!! Companies need this to sell their wares. So, it is ok to have this.
I'm with you on this one Michael. My vote would be to get rid of it all together. In my opinion, social media does far worse than good. Like Chaz pointed out, one really good reason is that it gives bad people a platform that they should've never had. I really enjoyed the conversation fellas. God bless always!

If social media was gone? Good riddance. I use the computer mostly as a juke box or to watch old reruns of old shows like Kojak, Rockford Files, The Fugitive, Perry Mason... and movies. That's really about it. Never got into socializing on here. It's la la land. As a way to enjoy & discover music? Absolutely. But that's all. Then again I'm in my 50s. Those of us who came of age during the Cold War, before the changes of the 1990s are simply thicker skinned, and tend to approach the using the computer as a tool. Not to mention we grew up bearing witness to the evils of the Soviet Union. Never trusted the CIA Bushes. 100% Independent Patriot all my life. Love America!
As always I enjoy your informative videos I think they're fantastic there are a few things we can do to hamper the social media problems number one,Encourage positivity: Share uplifting, inspiring, or constructive posts. Engage with others in a kind and respectful manner. Lead by example in modeling positive social media behavior.
Report problematic content: Most platforms have mechanisms to report harassment, hate speech, misinformation, and other rule-breaking content. Use these reporting tools to flag issues and help curb negativity.

I don't think tiktok, instagram, and the like are overall a net positive for humanity. We would be better without it. It really worsens the attention for span for individuals too when it comes to consuming content. At the very least, it should have an age restriction at least up to 18.
I like social media I connect with people that i grew up with many friends from school and the town i grew up in we share our lives talk about and show family pictures it's really nice everyone is scattered all over the country and it's a great way to keep in touch we have many group conversation 's about many different things i enjoy my interactions on social media it's when you go out of your circle that's not so good in the public arena sometimes

People become heroes behind a keyboard and the bullying is out of control. The social media platforms have to somehow clamp down on it . Mature people take it with a grain of salt but kids don't have the maturity to do that and being bullied has devastating effects on them

This one is sooo hard to answer. I would say no to the "influencer" type of social media. But say yes to entertainment social media. But those 2 are so intermingled sometimes. Its a real tough question. I would get rid of the prostitution side of social media. Onlyfans or IG/TikTok "models"

I agree with the age limit on social media but would not ban it completely. We can no longer trust the mainstream media for the news. I have found many trustworthy sources of news outlets on the internet. Also I enjoy connecting with family and friends across the country. With ALL of its warts I think it should stay but Definitely put an age limit on it. Driver’s License number would be a great way to enforce that. Great job guys!!! -Nick Giardiello

I used to be a bouncer downtown Detroit. I once went up to a group of beautiful women in a booth . They had a basket full of booze great music men all around.. they were all on their phones. Then I was a jerk for telling them to enjoy the night get of your phones .

It's not get rid of the internet all that quick searching and looking stuff up what's there will be fine it's the social media that is useless to anyone except for to talk to people we could do without that

Honestly as someone who apart from UA-cam never uses social media, I wouldn't care for it being banned. I think if it were banned it may resolve a few problems. Or better yet a law should be introduced where any extremely toxic behaviour or words should lead to an instant Internet ban. It may seem childish to do but if you ask me, it's these morons' access to the internet that cause the problems rather than the media itself.

As men we can agree (especially in today's world) that super emotional awareness is needed to make split second decisions. Especially to protect ourselves and our families.
I think the age to own semi-autos is 26. If we do this now I believe it may take a generation but we prevent over emotional rage events significantly.

Interesting conversation. Lunacy with regard to transgender participating in woman's sports, who has allowed this madness. There definitely should be an age limit for children, but a lot of parents are not going to cooperate too busy. A lot of young girls, more so than boys I think rely on how many likes they get for their images they post it creates low self esteem. The filters they use on their images also. Bullying online now, nearly every child has a phone nowadays and something embarrassing could be posted and shared and no way of stopping and retrieving it straight away. Alot of stress on children nowadays.
My Vote: Get Rid of it! Social Media is creating anti-social behavior.
I think that video games are far more dangerous for young children but they are like the gateway drug to social media.
I have a tonne of respect for these two fine gentlemen, but to blame the tool for the problem is always the easy way out.

The reason society has broken down is because parents believe in allowing their children to do as they please from a young age.
My wife and I have always had limits on the time & how its to be used by the children. We made sure family time was paramount etc.
Our family has zero social media problems because it was nipped in the bud from the start. Parents need to accept responsibilty for how their children are behaving and not blaming the tool or expect he Gov to fix their family problem.

They do have guidelines and tv really went down the tubes. I've learned so much on youtube from credible youtubers. What I don't like about youtube are those ppl who know it all and know nothing. Another subject. Trump? People don't want to hear truth. Goes all throughout history. Eff what ppl have to say w/ Trump I could put food on the table, etc. Goes deeper. FB to me is lookat me, look at my perfecto life..BS. Posting their food, etc. which can make the less fortunate feel badly. They go out, have to post the location where they're eating...umm, not cool. Enjoy a damn meal w/ your family/friends and get over yourself. I don't do tiktok. I used to do instagram but again bragging is not my thing. The porn on insta is out of control. I hear ppl talk about girls maybe 14, 15, 16, 17 degrading themselves. Celebrities too. It's all out of control and shows me how many narcs there are in this world. Sad. The suicides, sadly I agree. I'd love to be young again but was blessed I really growing up had fun! Banning it because you can’t parent your kids isn’t a good enough reason. There are countless small businesses that count on TikTok and instagram to share their product. It’s a huge tool and helps keeps the American dream alive. As far as the whole Chinese government thing goes, I doubt they are more inclined to stick their noses in my business than our own government. But that’s just me.

Although I vote to shutt down all the social media platforms... I know is not going to happen... however it should be age limit to it. I am a mother of 14 year old twin boys and I am very strickt in how much time they are spending on phones etc. Our school forbid the phones in the school, which is really good. But moreover we all have to build the kids up to be a healthy human beings and to learn how to make desicions and use abd chose what society is offering now.
Second thing - please get rid of Biden ASAP, for the sake of a whole world... not really sure Trump is the best choice... but, honestly, America is lacking in a real leaders for decades... take care guys. Love the podcast.

Unfortunately like a most things. It’s a double edge sword. You have so much knowledge at the tips of your fingers. But on the other end you have keyboard warriors creating issues and not taking any accountability. The world is not what it used to be. It almost feels like a race to the bottom unfortunately.
Social media can be good and useful, but unhealthy if young people are on it all day long.
