I have had 3 really good days of poker the past 3 days and unfortunately had a shit bout of luck today and then did the unfortunate mistake of continuing to play tilted and trying to earn the money back new lesson learned today
Thanks for stressing the point about investing in yourself. It can’t be overstated. The education you get every time you sit down can payoff so well. Great advice! Btw, I just played in the Potomac open and in just my 2nd live event ever I won a super satellite seat ($3000) into the $1m tournament. Didn’t cash but made it to the end of day one. Amazing experience! Thanks for all you and Bob are doing for the game!

If you're playing for living and have no other source of income, then ultimately, you only have one bankroll. It doesn't matter if you have stocks bonds and a 401K; if you only play for living, you really can't say you have multiple bankrolls because your real bankroll is your net worth and maybe whatever you can borrow if need be. My advice for managing a bankroll... 1) Never risk more than 5% of your bankroll in any one session. 2) Set a limit on how much you'll risk each session and stick to that limit. Shop around and play in the softest games you can but never lose more than the limit you set before the session just because the game is good.. 3) At the first sign of tilt, just quit immediately. 4) Take less risks and lock up a win earlier when you've been struggling and running bad in your more recent sessions. Being able to take home even a small win is good for your head after suffering some losses, because confidence and a positive mental attitude are important in poker. 5) Find the leaks in your game and continuously work on them.
30 buy-ins for live poker if you have an edge. Online cash you should have 100 buy-ins. Online you are playing more tables and getting so many hands per hour and can go on 30 buy-in downswings so you need more buy-ins. Just my opinion I could be wrong. Miss Yaa
Great advice having 2 accounts keeping money separate. I have been telling my son this for a while now and to download app to track his stats. Told him that's what i do on both and of course kids know everything and he doesn't lol
Actually, the first rule of poker bankroll management is that u have to be at least a small profitable player, because, even if u saved up 100 buy ins as a poker bankroll beforehand, if ur not a small profitable player, u'll eventually lose those 100 buy ins. So review ur hands each session and plug ur leaks! After u plug most of ur leaks, you'll be able to win more consistenty and help build up a poker bankroll.
I assume this is for cash games. What about tournaments? I doubt 30 buyins is enough to sustain downswings as cashing rate is 15% by default assuming someone plays average. I clearly know tournaments have way more variance than cash games. So what would be a solid number of buyins for tournaments?
Maybe I missed it, but if not u couldv said this is for cashgames only. I dont like to give ppl an amount of buyins for mtts, cs u can run like a god and like shit too. But the bigger the edge the less swings cs the variance u SHOULD have. I heard hi stakes some ppl got 400 some 700 buyins, but if u have an edge u should be fine with way less buyins at lo stakes mtts buyins
Do you or could you do a video on how to deal with tilting? That is my biggest enemy. I will build my bankroll up only to throw almost all of it away on a “tilt session”, where I try to “get it back” quickly and end up losing more… then go up in stakes to try again to “get it back” and lose even more. Even though I am aware of this and am disciplined 99% of the time, it’s that 1% that has gotten me into trouble time and time again. At what point do you know it’s time to “walk away” from a losing session and how long do you take off before trying again? (1 day, a week, a couple hours?)
@@tinoquintana7189 I'm up $2700 in poker playing 10 days. Down $20 in slots. Every trip I put $20 in slots of I lose I walk away if I double my money I quit. Thats how you play slots. I live 180 miles to nearest casino.
Not necessarily, she even suggests you could have as few as 20BB’s in small stakes games. I’d still buy the max and top off frequently (never below $80) in your game. When you do win a big pot you’ll win more with a higher stack. At these stakes you’re gonna be all-in more and be against more all-ins too.
@@dawnmarie2893You never heard of casinos that let u buyin for 50bb or less? You are so lucky. California casinos that are not in Indian reservations, their low stakes only allow upto 50bb. Commerce Casino is even worse. Only 40bb. And they rake so much. $1 every preflop, $5 per flop. And table is shallow. I rather save my urge to play poker and just drive to Vegas or San Diego than playing in Los Angeles. LA casinos suck ass. Lot of rude obnoxious players and slowrollers. And you better watch your back when you win lot of money in LA as these casinos are in the hood/ghetto. Security? Lmfao, what a joke.

Nice one Lexy
Thx Shad!
ignore the slot machines and pit.
That's my problem!! Usually always win at poker but spend it on slots, 😂. Fml
Slots are the worst!😊

Really?
20 or 30 buyins as a bankroll?
That’s by far the lowest that I’ve ever heard,is that the suicidle approach?
No variance and risk-of-ruin calculations, no Kelly formula.....this video could have been more in-depth.
6000 to play 1-2??? Are you serious
Agree 💯

So by the advice here, my local 1-2 game isn't even a game I should ever play. The max buy-in is $100.
