LEGO Technic 42108 Mobile Crane - building review, details and crane comparison!

The LEGO Technic 42108 Mobile Crane is the latest addition to the ever growing list of
Technic cranes. It is not as big as some of its predecessors, it only has 1292 pieces and the price is 99,99 € or $99.99, but it reaches up to a whopping 78 centimeters and also has 8 wheel steering! You can also see in the video how does it look compared to the 42009 Mobile Crane MK II and the 42082 Rough Terrain Crane.

The knob is actually geared 1:1to the linear acutator that raises the boom.It's geared down then up.

With my crane, the string is always turning into a spiral when I lower the hook. Does that do it to yours too?

I added some weight to mine as I lowered from my build desk and left it for a while as I went lower and lower. It solved this issue!

Without racks it’s usually 2 parallel beams connected w frictionless pieces examples include 42078 Mack b model or 42122 jeep

Or the other way around. That part isn't a dedicated seat, nor weightpack. It is, however very popular due to it's shape factor. Fun fact the same part is the windshield on the BMW R 1200 (set42063)

Much too expensive . Lego had much better cranes in the past. Save your money and try to get one of the old cranes, as 42009 or 42097 (this one also has a b model )
