@April wow.....why must people always consider ds bw bitter😑 when literally we just point out factors and patterns that we see over and over again. hell we get treated LESS THAN just because of our darker tone come on now. hell even some light skin black women SEE the nonsense that dark skin black women go through and empathize with us because THEY KNOW its not right for us to go through what we go through. It’s not about not being someone’s preference its about being treated with the same respect as other people.

If the topic were racism, we would all be unitedly speaking against it, but now that it is something you benefit from, dark women are "bitter." Funny you chose a word that is used to silence ALL black women. Human beings, bruh 😂 Never surprised.

Hello Y’all, I’m 62yr, I was the darkest skin girl of my immediate family. My uncle, mother’s brother called me “Blackie” hardly ever my name. I felt Colorism as a young child. No one stopped him. My mother didn’t have love for me even though she birthed me, like I was damaged goods. That effected me ALL my life. Even though generally, I’ve been relatively successful in life, this issue has followed me in life...family, friends, dating, marriage, early school, college and adulthood. I was the “good one”. I had be, Life lived well, now at my age I don’t give AF about it anymore. However, I deeply appreciate that we’re finally taking this issue out the closets. Thank you🥰

a colourist man's self-concept is too damaged to have an authentically loving relationship with any woman, light-skinned or dark-skinned. Light-skinned women may feel like it's beneficial to have lighter skin, but the reality is that any relationship they have with a colourist man will be one of perverted power. Lighter skin does not help with having a successfully loving relationship. Colourism really sucks for everyone, whether they know it or not. It's divisive and sad. Speaking as a light-skinned woman here. Sorry to hear about your ex-friends their behaviour towards you was disgusting and shameful.

He also had a ls bm as a baby mom that he revered and as$ kissed. I was younger, not as enlightened so I stayed in that horrible relationship longer than I should have. I'm lightskin in Brazil and this also exists here: dark people are not valued as the lighter ones are. But the difference is that we don't call it "privilege", because we understand that privilege is something structural and at least in Brazil there is nothing that is positively structured for black people in general, so we don't talk about privileges but "lightskin advantages". Because for us privilege is something good that you have anywhere, so we understand that only white people have it, while the advantage depends on where you are: so if lightskin is in the middle where dark people are, they are more valued, but if these lightskin people are among white people, they are harmed.
I'm just explaining the Brazilian reality, but as I said I recognize that we have something more in relation to dark people.
I know it may sound weird, but I don't want to have those advantages, because if I have something it means others don't. So how can we end colorism? I think recognizing the advantages is the first step. But,after?
I met your channel yesterday, but I already love it. it hurts to hear that people like me (lightskin) are valued more, because i understand that in a way we contribute to the non-valuation of the dark, but that's the truth and we need to change.
    Kisses from Brazil

We can end colourism by being honest about people’s ethnic/racial heritage. 1) Nobody in West Africa (where the original slaves were taken from to the Americas/Caribbean) is ‘light skin’. You are most likely biracial/multiracial. Authentic and original black people are LIMITED in shades, having deep-dark skin, wide noses and African-textured hair. Mixed people are the ones who are diverse with a range of skin tones (include dark-skin mixes), phenotypes and hair textures/colours. 3) Therefore, colourism is a mixed/biracial people problem.

    • @ms-gb6if
      @ms-gb6if 3 роки тому +8

@@unapologetic7281 I don't understand why you said West Africans aren't lightskin, because that's obvious. But don't forget that when darkskin women arrive in Brazil, they are raped so that their blackness is diluted and future generations gradually turn white (search for "Cam's Redemption"). This imposed mestizaje gave rise to biracial people, such as "pardo", "mestizo", but the racial identification is unique: you can be a black person (light or darksin), "yellow" (which are Asians), indigenous or you can be a mestizo (this can be read as white, indigenous black or yellow). This all depends on the phenotype. Violence against black women was strong here, so calling a black person with light skin "lightskin" rather than "biracial/multiracial" is a form of resistance against the Brazilian state that denies black and indigenous people their rights. This imposed miscegenation makes black men and women relate more to white people because they think they are the saviors (I'm not legitimizing the interracial relationship, but we understand that we have a past and present that encourages this interracial relationship, with the objective of erasing black people from the country's history). So here in Brazil there are lightskin, as well as in the USA, the difference is that these people are more valued than the darkskin, so that needs to be fought.

If you claim to be inclusive, but choose to spend your time with people who aren’t, I’m kind of looking at you sideways because where does the limit to your inclusivity start? Since there are many lipstick colors produced we can choose whatever we like: browns, orange, tan for me. To me a colorist is yes our own race of people prejudiced against ourselves according to our different hues. In his statement I did not hear him say that dark skinned women are unattractive to him. I have ebony skin. I saw a biography about Rihanna which stated that she was taunted as a child for having a light complexion. When I heard that she had recently reached billionaire status, I thought to myself that she had succeeded in spite of her haters. My next thought
was that my own success was on its way. I was happy that she had done well for herself. At this point, I have dissociated myself from all of this painful colorism. The world is just so effed up. If I dwelled on it I would lose my mind. I can't afford to do that. I don't the have time and emotional energy to waste.

Rihanna could get herself any race of men. I don’t get the choices she’s making when it comes to her love life. She needs a nice man. He doesn’t have to be any particular color or ethnicity. Choose wisely, Riri.

I agree with you, dating is very complicated. You should profile this person. So much about him. What kind of women his ex girlfriends were. Why they broke up. What kind of people this person's friends are... All about this person's family, all their family dynamics... And so on

Rihanna has never done squat music wise or community wise. In fact I think that she has used the black woman card left, right and barely whenever she felt was more beneficial to her. I do not understand why people like her so much. Anyways, girl I am liking you, your shaved eyebrows and your whole looks. 💗

There is so many layers. Yes, she has an extremely inclusive personal brand and has been verbal about wanting as many different people as possible to be reflected and valued in her makeup and clothing lines. But then you have the added nuance of them having romantic/ platonic history, her being from a different country, her specifically being a certain complexion from a Caribbean country, their economic classes, etc. Like I’m not surprised she is with him but I am curious how she came to that decision.

Black women date colorist men because most black women are colorist too, I don’t see how ppl don’t understand this and furthermore, black women’s self esteem is built off dark skinned women being put down I guess I’m the only one who gets this concept!

I don't get the big deal. That's his opinion if he doesn't think women of a certain shade doesn't suit a certain colour what's the big deal? I'm black but I don't think tattoos look good on black people simply because the contrast doesn't show up as well on dark skin as it does on pale white skin. Just like I think white people don't suit certain colours. Just because someone is black/dark-skinned it doesn't mean we suit all colours. I wore a jacket with some trainers, my friend said the colour of the jacket didn't suit me and ut didn't go with the trainers(I thought it looked good). We went out and a stranger complimented me on the colour of the jacket saying it complimented my skin. Point being everyone has their own opinion, why let someone's opinion like ASAP rocky bother you? Leave him too it.

I love the look! 😍 It's giving 2005 Megan Good. The vision is clear. It's refreshing to see thin brows, the colored in thick caterpillars are played out. About the topic; it's not even melanin rich women forgiving, they're being forced to forgive and forget. The perpetrator won't allow the conversation to progress until they've bullied the melanin rich woman into silence and complacency. And if she isn't silenced she's the aggressor. Anyone who doesn't understand how horrible this is or doesn't speak up when they're in the midst of this madness is part of the problem. Rihanna loves her some abusive men, colorism is verbal abuse, she loves being assaulted, objectified, publicly humiliated. At the end of the day it's just sis and her billions. These males don't care about her. The preferences are treated poorly too. In a twisted way, that's the only reason bm are being called out for their BS and colorist ways, they're treating non Black and light preferences poorly. Before their public disdain began a few years ago, the issue of colorism fell on deaf ears, now it's a commonly used term. Preferences being treated poorly has helped the cause by proxy.

The part about “you have the privilege of staying quiet because you don’t have to engage in those messy conversations” 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 yup right again. & #3 that part about not having to forgive someone if you don’t want to 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. Go tf offffff PERIOD ! I just feel like people don’t watch the full video before commenting or they lowkey colorist themselves cause you said some real shit. 👏🏽🔥

N btw it’s not a backhand compliment to say your not pretty because I think u r but I value confidence of beauty cause beauty consistently changes within our society but confidence is something that always remains the same

This makes me think of 2 things immediately.
    1. I expected more from Rihanna. I remember seeing a special on Oprahs channel where Rihanna bought her mom a house. To my surprise and Joy her mother is a beautiful chocolate woman. In my head from then on I assumed she was an ally. Lol that was very naive on my part.
    2. When this conversation comes up I ALWAYS think about Tina Knowels and how I believe she is a fake ally. On one hand Kelly Rolland credits Tina with some of her confidence being dark skin woman, citing her talks with Tina about how rare and beautiful chocolate is. On the other hand however, I saw an interview with Mathew knowels admitting when he first saw Tina he thought she was a white woman. That was his initial attraction to her. So.....you mean to tell me you were married to a very deep completed man who was initially attracted to you because he thought you were white for almost 30 years who remind you she only got a divorce from because she found out about his Toddler side baby. It wasn't the colorism. It was the cheating......furthermore you were never an ally. You were a beneficiary until it no longer SERVED you to be with such a mentally sick broken and self hating man. I think this is often the thing with light skin women. Because we are on the other side, its usually very easy to spot the brokenness in colorist men. That cant HELP but to spill over into other aspects of their manhood. Because it's a very delicate deep seated inner hate issue. We get it. The LS women who deal with colorists on the other hand very much like white ppl about Blk ppl problems feel like it isn't their issue. Until it is. Then they all of a sudden have dozens of red flag stories that they thought didn't affect them until in hindsight their able to connect the dots. But as far as I'm concerned at that point it's TOO late. You were already complicit.

When Rihanna first came to the states. She said she identified with Mariah Carey as a fellow biracial. That changed because a lot black americans pressure mixed race people into claiming black only. And plenty of self hating mixed race people insist that they are black.
Rihanna to me has always been a mixed woman. She is the preference for black men who don't want to go full white but get the light eyes, light skin and maybe looser hair.
Side note: there are different shades of red and different undertones. It all depends on your undertone and getting the right shade

Rihanna has green eyes , light skin, Carribean girl . She benefits from colorism . She’s privilege. But I somewhat agree too bc she was so quick to drop draya wen she made stupid comments about domestic violence bc Rihanna can relate to it but when it came to ASAP rocky she didn’t drop him bc she either doesn’t care or can’t relate despite the women in her family being darker skin. She’s privilege that all I can say .
