I guess it was the right time that they came into my life. They made the darkest time in my life brighter. After watching the many videos of how they started, they all gave me the courage to keep my head up. They also see that I should not give up on what my future will be.

I'm 40 and have certainly enjoyed music all my life, but when BTS came to me earlier this year, I never thought it was something I needed (as far as genre goes, K-pop and "boy band" were NOT in my wheelhouse). But there was a healing quality to their work that grabbed me immediately, and I've been hooked ever since. There are bands that I've been a big fan of, but NEVER have I given so much of my time, attention (and money!) to a group before. They helped me at a time where I needed a major redirection in my life, and I will never feel "too old", or apologize for loving them!! 💜

The biggest thing they did for me... was just showing me that there is still hope and some good in this world. Not just that there are still artists out there like them who are really passionate about their craft and humble, a generational artist much needed like the kind of artist MJ was.. but the fact that I could see that they are humans who just seem so pure and truly want to heal the world. It gives me a bit of motivation and I am able to connect to them in that sense. This is coming from someone who never imagined I would be alive today.

I've always been into non-English-speaking music, but gravitated mainly towards the rock genre. Like you, I certainly never thought that I'd find myself this deeply connected to a "K-pop boy band", at this age (40), but that is what happened (almost instantly-my first song was Not Today). I've read countless stories of people's lives changing for the better due to their inspiration, and I surely identify, as I believe they came to me at the moment I needed their influence the most. I have seen the major, positive changes in UA-cam reactors who genuinely enjoy BTS, but never thought they would, which has been awesome to witness. I am very grateful for their existence in my life, and the lives of ARMY around the world. They simply tend to make us feel better, and want to BE better. 💜
First, let me say that I love your reaction. I also would definitely not consider myself a ‘typical’ BTS fan. I turned 13 in 1972 so the retro vibes in this music video speak right to my heart. I became a huge fan of theirs about 2 years ago. I was reeling from the death of my husband. Watching them perform, listening to their music and letting the positive and uplifting messages in their work sink in helped me and is still helping me to get through one of the darkest times in my life. To add to my earlier comment, BTS has brought a lot of happiness and laughter in my life since I started listening to them. I've known about them for several years bc of my daughter but thought, at the time, that it was for teenagers. I must admit, I felt like I was too old to like them. But I started listening to them on my own last year and fell completely in love with the boys. I'm recently divorced after 17 years of marriage and have been down on myself, but BTS has given me positivity, laughter, and just happiness! I love them lots!!!!

BTS has simply brought beauty into my life. It's hard to be sad and negative when you see these guys living life on a high level after overcoming every single obstacle thrown in their way! They just love right through it!! Be it loving themselves or loving a world that sometimes is so unkind or unworthy of it! I used to try and force myself to like what my "freinds" like but they really are only my friends cuz they are my siblings friends. Then I found BTS and realized that I wanted to be a kpop idol, I love rap, I like basketball, I like sneakers, I like music from the 70s and 80s like MJ, and they brought back my love for dance and singing. They also showed me self love. I became introduced to some of the best UA-camrs cuz people reacted to kpop like you. Y'all inspire me like crazy, Thank you!
For me bruh black and Dominican, I've always listen to majority English music and a little Hispanic music here and there. After listening to the song, and not even being able to understand without subtitles, I've connected more with K-pop and more specific BTS than typical American music. I literally have more K-pop than American music on all of my music playlist! I've even introduced some of my friends to kpop. If i cld describe the music and mv in one one, I'd say REFRESHING. Yes, they use 80s 90s vibe but they make it soooo them. I love how u say it's a song that u cld just bop and feel.
