This is an all-touch compilation of Sir Stanley Matthews performance in the 1953 FA Cup final, the game that is also known as "the Matthews final". It was his third FA Cup final - he had been on the losing side in 1948 and 1951 and he wasn't doing that again. Despite Bolton Wanderers dominating for most of the game, Matthews had managed to get the win over the line with - his partner Stan Mortensen scored a hat-trick and Blackpool snatched away the victory from their opponents despite losing 2:3 at the 88th minute.

Genius player. His accelerations, top speeds, fast close control ball handlings. Look like a modern player, playing back in the 1950s. He had such graceful, balletic poise, while in full tilt with the ball. Definitely one of the best players I've ever watched on recorded film. Even though he played way before my time.
