They will naturally attack Islam, an ideology that teaches the importance of truth, being honest, standing up for good principles, not being controlled by agenda driven politicians/corporations, the definition of men and women, family values, protecting the weak and oppressed and attacking the oppressor. The West stands against all of these values. They teach faslehood and the power of lying without accountability or consequences (see politicians, companies, capitalism), they teach the idea of 'do not judge anyone or anything no matter how dumb or immoral', they teach the concept of being easily swayed by charisma and materialistic surface values, they distort and try to delete and weaken the concepts of nature, genders, family values, community values, they oppress and murder innocents around the world and in their own countries ON A DAILY basis, etc.
Islam, on the other hand, relies on reason, logic and evidence for all of its beliefs.
This is just my perspective as a westerner who lived in the middle east for almost a decade.

Sometimes governments do not act according to the scripture followed by majority of their citizens. For example, many majority Christian countries are banning head covering worn by Muslim women, not realizing that the bible itself tells women to cover their heads. That's why traditionally Jewish and Christian women always wore head coverings when going out until a century or so ago.

Most Iranians who left Iran were Shah's secular supporters anyway. Its the same as most pro Western Chinese leaving China to move to Western countries and Westerners thinking that all Chinese must be pro Western because that's the only type they've encountered.
