Is Your Next Sin Already Forgiven? | Andrew Farley

  • There’s a common misconception that 1 John 1:9 instructs Christians to confess their sins to be forgiven and cleansed by God every day.
    The idea that God forgives your past sins at salvation but then leaves you with the burden of confessing each sin going forward to remain forgiven, misses the incredible power of the true Gospel message.
    In this short video clip, I unpack the proper context of this passage, proving it’s not directed at believers. Your forgiveness doesn’t come in daily installments; you are a totally forgiven person. And when you grasp this amazing reality, you’ll be inspired - just like this caller who was laughing with joy - to share the truth with others!

    Sin is taken out of the way. For me…there is no such thing. Jesus defeated sin and took it out of the way nailing it to the cross. Next level of true grace

    Really liked the way she worded her question. And liked the way you answered the question, we are cleansed forever as she said, and as you said, from ALL unrighteousness.

    Someone speaking against eternal security used acts 8:22 saying Simon the sorcerer had to pray for forgiveness for thinking that you could purchase the gift of the Holy Spirit even after he got saved. Can someone help? Was he really saved when he had been baptised?

    • @EugeneHolley-rc6ry
      @EugeneHolley-rc6ry 4 місяці тому +2

      Yes, he was saved in verse 13 Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. He did not understand it was the power of God that they received the Holy Spirit, he was told to repent or change what he was thinking that the free gift could be bought with money. In verse 24 Simon was learning that what he thought was not right and asked for them to pray that none of those things happen to him. He was justified by believing like the rest of us are, not our performance.

      @@EugeneHolley-rc6ry thanks this helps! It's just the guy was saying Peter told him to pray God to forgive him after he believed, and saying that even after we're saved by believing we need to "cry out" for forgiveness when we sin and our future sins aren't all forgiven

      @@greengreen4251 I believe he was telling him he was in bondage of his sin through the bitterness in his heart. Galatians 6:1 says if your brother is overtaken in a fault, you which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness, considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear you one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. He may have been close to blaspheme in his thoughts by thinking he could buy the gift of God with money.

      Something to think about... When Jesus died on the cross, ALL of our sins were in the future.

    - Be not DECEIVED, you're not born again if you walk in darkness. I.e willful sin.
    - Titus 2-11-15
    11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
    12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
    13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
    14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
    15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

    By this we know that we know him - 1 John 3:6-10
    6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
    7 Little children, let no man DECEIVE you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
    8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
    9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
    10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
    This is what it means to LOVE --1 John 5 King James Version.
    5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
    2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
    3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
    4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
    5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
    Ephesians 5:2-11 kjv
    2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
    3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
    4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
    5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
    6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
    7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
    8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
    9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
    10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
    11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
    - Peter 2:17-22
    17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.
    18 For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
    19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
    20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
    21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
    22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
    - John 3:16-21
    16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
    18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
    19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
    20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
    21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

    - 2 Thessalonians 2:10-13 KJV
    And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
    11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
    12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
    13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth .
