@@royfokerpoker1802 Not really. Listen to the way she says it. It's a mantra she's been telling herself. She's expecting the Jedi to use their full power on her, which neither of the two (so far) have done. If it's childish it's because it's reflecting Mae's state of mind.
It's even worse when you actually pay a bit of attention and realize that they "aged" the younger actor with SNL make-up set, like, how low can these people go ? :D
??? did you guys even watch the show? it's pretty obvious the woman is the typical "I need revenge and prove myself stronger than my enemies". that's the whole joke.
The show wants us to think that she is an intimidating foe but her behaviour contradicts that when she just makes herself look like a fool. Also her attack stance and opening line is just straight up awful.
I don't think the show wants us to think that. I think that it wants us to think she is a fool, a child cosplaying as a sith. A pawn in someone else's game
@@ofrund A pawn in someone else's game is possible, yes, but a child cosplaying as a Sith that is powerful enough to kill Jedi Masters? That seems like a contradiction in her levels of experience.
@@Argon-MattNot powerful enough, cunning enough. She didn’t overpower Master Indara, she created an opening by forcing her to defend civilians and drop her guard, had they not been there she’d have lost.
@@Mr-Rinn My point still stands... When I said 'power' I was referring to her general capabilities. Sure, we can talk about whether that is raw strength, raw force power or trickery, but ultimately she is still capable of taking out a Jedi Master which remains a contradiction. There's also a massive issue with Master Indara allowing so many innocent people to be attacked before she stood up and did anything, which is not at all in line with what we expect from any Jedi, especially not a master. (Remember when Obi-Wan chopped a guys arm of in Mos Eisley Cantina for attacking Luke?) A lightsaber should've been drawn straight away to defend the innocent, whether she's fighting unarmed, or with a knife or blaster. Yet Indara refuses to use her lightsaber, and keeps 'playing with her food' instead of just dealing with her. The fight should never have been allowed to progress to the point where they are on the balcony and had been distracted by the bartender, and even then, the cantina is completely deserted when she was killed with the knife. I could understand her being caught off guard when there is a chaotic stampede to run out, but when the bar is empty? Remember that Jedi can briefly see the future too. If she can deflect multiple blades thrown at her with a lightsaber, I don't think it's unreasonable to think she would've dealt with the bartender distraction and also survive the thrown knife. Also, if civilians really are a major weakness, then I'm not sure how the Jedi would have had such a strong influence during this era, or at any era. Surely you would be able to put most padawans and knights at a big disadvantage just by attacking them in crowded places and causing chaos. Thanks for coming to my ted talk :D
@@Argon-Matt You're nitpicking. Maybe she should've intervened faster, but she might've wrongly thought that they would be able to subdue her themselves, and Mae wasn't taking out any of them lethally. And the point of her fighting Mae unarmed is that when Jedi of this era draw their lightsaber it means they're prepared to kill their targets, meaning that she was trying to non-lethally subdue Mae to begin with because at the beginning of the fight she had no intention of killing Mae. And if Jedi were THAT good at seeing things before they happened a lot more would've survived Geonosis and Order 66.

Okay, I went into seeing clips of this show thinking that I would hate it, but…why does it feel like everyone is now looking for excuses to dislike it? “Attack me with all your strength is so cringe” ehhh yeah, Star Wars has had plenty of cringe moments long before the Disney sale. Do I need to bring up the ‘sand’ line? I honestly liked this scene. Still haven’t seen the show itself and VERY torn on whether I should see it as I’m worried moments like this would be few, far between and the only thing I would like about it. But seeing a Jedi who is so spiritually in tune that he is untouchable honestly was kinda cool. … Kinda iffy about his actual physical design buuuut I can get past that.
@@Bacontats So because you deliberately oversimplify my words it somehow makes you right? I’m saying that people are more willing to forgive older Star Wars for cringe, yet seem determined to find fault in this one.
My main problem with this scene is that she tried attacking Torbin WAY too many times after punching the force field once. She should have hit the force field, then maybe tried stabbing it with a knife to see if the sharpness of the attack had any impact. Then after that she should stop. Instead she punched, and kicked many times when she should've just realised her efforts were futile, threw her knives (which isn't going to change anything from stabbing with them), tries backflipping off the wall (as if that's going to make any difference) and ends up pancaked on the ground. The show wants us to think that she is an intimidating antagonist but her behaviour contradicts that when she voluntarily makes herself look like a fool. Also I'll readily admit that the prequels (and other parts of SW) had crappy and cringe dialogue, but to say that we should accept cringe in Disney SW just because it exists in other parts of SW is fallacious.

Except they aren't corrupt and just made a mistake 16 years prior. She's not exacting justice, she's taking personal revenge and murdering them. She's no idol
Reminds me of that one story in Legends where the All the Jedi masters mass murder their own padawans using brutal trap(only one survived and barely escaped) because of a vision that one of them will turn to dark side But they're too tied to their jedi code and arrogant that they didn't realise their action is what caused that surviving padawan to kill them all for revenge afterwards That happens on 3964 BBY
