C C + "you will realize he has a carefully constructed persona." Well, that is his job. He's a comedian. Comedians carefully construct stage personas then tell jokes...
I don't think the daily show is about manipulation of public opinion. It's funny mostly to people that already share their opinion. Effectively, he is preaching to the choir. What that does is keep people involved that might otherwise turn their back in disgust. The humour makes it bearable to do so. There's no nefarious hidden agenda, it's just a bunch of people speaking their mind in a funny way, comforting the likeminded. Going by their ratings, there's a lot of them. If your looking for some clear manipulation of public opinion you shouldn't have any problems finding more obvious and more dangerous examples. On a side note: I've never had the impression that Trevor Noah claims to be or suggested that he is an anti-apartheid struggle veteran. So it's a bit weird to declare him a poser on account of not being one. As far as i can tell, he is just against racism (you don't need to be an anti-apartheid struggle veteran to be so) and has an interesting perspective based on personal experience (not of being an anti... etc). I fail to see why you should be upset about that.
First of all. I couldn't care less about the condition of Trevor's genitals, or his off-screen persona in general. That's just his private life. Keeping it seperate from his on screen persona seems healthy for any comedian. Second: stating that the lack of perceivable manipulation reveals it's subtelty is a bad argument. It doesn't make you wrong, but it does make you appear less convincing. It also fails to adress my argument against the show being manipulative. Last: People hardly seem to require a created subtle narrative to start imagining and lapping up. It's human nature to create narratives out of anything. You can hardly expect anyone, including Trevor Noah, to completely hide their background just to keep people from making it into a story that's a bit larger than life. I'll readily admit that he has been exploiting this mechanic to a certain degree, but don't we all on occasion? You did the same thing when you mentioned your parents.
I frickin' loved that line! Genius. A burst of creative commentary is washing over me; I can't help myself: Office memos aren't going to sign themselves! Twitter is not going to tweet itself...nepotism is hardly going to nepot (v.) itself! (OK maybe the last one could use more thought...) But this is fun, I challenge anyone who agrees to come up with more. (LOVE the golf one.)
Sun eating gigademon firing 400 employed people to free that same working space is not creating jobs. And if he does not refill those positions, its losing jobs
Being offered a job by the POTUS is usually considered an honour--even if the President was Bush Jr. But with Trump it's seen as a career hazard, a black mark on your resume'. A stint as a McDonalds cashier or a 7Eleven part-timer would look better. Working for the Trump administration is like having "Professional Puppy Killer" in your CV.
Fox is the Republican answer to CNN (and co) + The Daily Show + The Late Night show. And they are better at lies than satire. So its pretty horrible to watch for anybody with a functional brain.
Yea Reince Priebus. You can't expect the POTUS to come up with nominations of his own to all those seats. Sure he is the deciding factor but all the other dumbasses in his staff are equally responsible
It's not unusual for key branch positions to be vacated for a short term. But it's highly unusual for the President to ask all the holdovers from previous administration to leave ASAP, and not be bothered about filling those positions so far into their Presidency. This administration is terribly positioned to handle an external crisis.
Damn you I fell for the eyelash thing and now I'm annoyed I fell for it. But on a serious note I agree with you. The ineptness of this administration is off the charts.
I am so ashamed to have voted for Trump. I really am. I know so many others who are also ashamed. I now understand (but not appreciate) why people called us Trumptards.
We do. That's part of the reason we ended up voting for him--and for me part of the reason he ended up losing my support. Yes, we know there's a problem with the MSM--most of these big media companies are owned by billionaires or corporations who, of course, will color their content in favor or in-line with their business or political interests. We're not naive. When the MSM went full-force against Trump that's when a lot of undecideds decided to vote for him: who is this guy that everyone would be so against him? Especially if they're rather indifferent about his character. (And, come on, it was campaign time--everyone says shit about each other) Until now, we take what the MSM says with a grain of salt too. But for God's sake, there wouldn't be this much smoke if there was no fire. Trump is a _legendary_ fuck up. This is supposed to be the grace period--the time in his presidency where he'll be able to do most and get forgiven more; plus, he has both houses of Congress, and half the Supreme Court in line with his party. But in just 4 months, Trump has blustered his way by doing everything a president shouldn't do and failed to get a lot of things done. His policies are horrendous; his bearing is embarrassing. And the reports of his sloth are worrying and annoying (as well as hypocritical). Personally, I still don't care about his personality. Bad people can be good leaders. But Trump is both a bad person and a bad leader. My real beef with Trump is that he's a terrible administrator and a terrible politician. He doesn't listen to advice, he has no idea how to write or pass policy, his thoughts on foreign affairs are naive and frankly stupid, he's ignorant on the importance of bureaucracy and the posts he continues to leave vacant in his administration, he's way to obsessed with what people say about him, and, most unforgivable, his lack of respect or sense of gravity when it comes to matters of state intelligence; he endangers intelligence officers and makes our allies less likely to share their intel with the US.
You are not a "Trumptard". I understand why some people voted for Trump. Really, I do. It`s parallel to why people voted Bernie over Hillary. "Trumptards" are the ones, unlike yourself, that are suffering from immense cognitive dissonance. All this stinky, corrupt shit is flying in their face, yet they steadfastedly yelp that it smells like peaches. They continously avoid forums that decisivly point this out, rather focusing on echo-chamber threads that only appeal to their base instincts. I personally don`t call them "Trumtards", or anything like that. I`m just ashamed for them!!
Step 1: Preach that the government is incompetent and ineffective and should therefore be kept as small as possible (military doesn't count). Step 2: Get elected. Step 3: Prove your point. Step 4: ???
well at least corporations take over completly so they can save donation money .. or wait, maybe the so great GOP can channel that money to the few left who obviously are in need for the money like the billionaire betsy booh vos or the all influentual replacment of the first lady the first daughter?.. - Lets drain the swamp so there is more for yourelf :) Never had a country been better conned than with its 45. president..
man! I though Trump as the president of the U.S was gonna be terrible for everyone, but it´s 10 times wors than I expected. and in such a short period of TIME!
Nah, but it's nice to have a bit of variety. Personally, I watch the Phillip DeFranco show on top of this, it's one of the most unbiased news channels on UA-cam.

Nice, but not perfect. I don't think roller coasters are the right analogy- because, overall, we know they are safe. Footage for the ad should have featured cars speeding off a cliff, and people walking in the street while a piano lands on their heads. 😏
The worst part is, the comparison with creepy house vs haunted house might even work out here... He just needs to find some idiots wanting to do the job, afterall, he found enough to be elected... should be more than plenty available.
U.S politics is a sitcom with no happy ending
....ask Vladi, he can't stop laughing.
He is the director, lmao
Rijin Mk always sunny?
A soap opera if you will
it's always sunny in Washington:
the gang gets elected
Wow refusing a job offer from the president - thats gangster shit
More than that; it is in some cases people saying they don't want to when they first even hear a rumour that they are being considered.
U ok hun?

"Trump is very busy ... Fox News isn't going to watch itself".
Talk about deadly jokes!
Twitler responds..... "Not watching Fox News, getting intelligence update from Fox News. Covfefe!"
Also golf is not going to get played by itself at Mar A Lago
I frickin' loved that line! Genius. A burst of creative commentary is washing over me; I can't help myself: Office memos aren't going to sign themselves! Occo Eric Nolf really? wow yeah...hard hitting stuff...
@Butters Stotch: Yeah, well ... it would be unreasonable to expect Trevor Noah to come up with such brilliant retorts as you do.
Trump's hands on the picture XD
plot twist, that's his feet
Those are his real hands
JOBS JOBS JOBS, created 400+JOBS in just four months XD
Sun eating gigademon i could do that by opening a cloth factory
AK SALMAN or fire 400+ staff in other work places ..if that isn't a heck of job creation, I don't know what is?..
bluesiesangel 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂that's exactly what trump thinks
Sun eating gigademon firing 400 employed people to free that same working space is not creating jobs. And if he does not refill those positions, its losing jobs
Sun eating gigademon p
When even lawyers refuse to represent Trump that says volumes about this guy. When bottom feeders refuse to bite you something smells.

Last time I was this early the world made sense
that must a long long time ago
you don't know what you've got till it's gone
The World does still make sense, America doesn't.
america is not the world, get your head out of your ass
I'm not even American, dickhead. I'm just concerned because what happens in America does have ramifications around the world.
just watched a FOX broadcast oh my gosh never heard such biased reporting!
Windsor Castle He says as he watches CNN
Fox is the Republican answer to CNN (and co) + The Daily Show + The Late Night show. And they are better at lies than satire. So its pretty horrible to watch for anybody with a functional brain.
Trump is like a five year old. All signs point to this.
K Vyas
Old people with emerging dementia are like this.
don't be mean to five year olds
What the fuck is his chief of staff doing??
Hiding in a corner or it will be his job next
Pallad1um1891STHLM the one in wh ? Probably manage all employers of the wh from cooks, to security.
Yea Reince Priebus. You can't expect the POTUS to come up with nominations of his own to all those seats. Sure he is the deciding factor but all the other dumbasses in his staff are equally responsible
Presumably surfing linkedin.
Pallad1um1891STHLM playing with his covfefe

Your Profile pic lol I thought there was an eyelash on my screen. I've been trying to attack it.
Maybe Trump is already resigned to the impeachment that is coming in the next few months so he doesn´t care anymore
Congrats. Better late than never. If that helps you: Check out the Trump Regrets on Twitter, so you see that you are not alone.
yeah, I call bullshit. Selfie with a trump hat and a timestamp or it didn't happen.
You're not the only one. Let's just do better next time. Voting for lulz is turning into a nightmare.
We do. That's part of the reason we ended up voting for him--and for me part of the reason he ended up losing my support. Trevor, this was funny, but I'm worried you're giving Trump ideas. He'd definitely go for Wild Wild West Wing.
I am Mister Torgue and I approve this... EXPLOSION !!!!!!
That sentence had too many syllables! APOLAGIZE!!!
Maybe not filling these positions are a GOP idea of how to minimize or eliminate gov't jobs and departments?
sanjuansteve, thought so too but then they should at least fill the terror affiliated positions.
- Lets drain the swamp so there is more for yourelf :) Never had a country been better conned than with its 45. president..
why the fuck did the WH leave security diplomats as empty positions???....They're gonna regret this...
Because trump is to stupid to hire capable people.
Take a serious look. Those vacant positions are the best stratum for nepotism.
Every time it cheers me up even I'm feeling down but realising how truthful our life's are Trevor and the crew
the final minutes of this piece was wayyyyy too amazing!!!
Well he DID say he is gonna " create jobs" 😂 😂 😂 😂
My God. Its too early for this. I need my drink of cofvefe, to deal with this shit
2 weeks in the white house, a lifetime in the prison :D :D :D
Wow, that is a hard-core burn. Laughing and gasping, like, "no they didn't". but "Yes, they did."
"I'm gonna create new jobs, great, great new jobs."
* Fires people *
"You're.... wait, what ya mean, ya don't want the job?!"
"2 weeks in the white house, a life time in prison" i just fell on the floor and started laughing xD
man! I though Trump as the president of the U.S was gonna be terrible for everyone, but it´s 10 times wors than I expected. and in such a short period of TIME!
Getting a job offer from the President would normally be an honour - but I don't blame them for rejecting #AintNobodyHaveTimeForThat
"TWO WEEKS IN THE WHITE HOUSE, LIFETIME IN PRISON!"
...one can only hope
Is it bad that this is how I get my news?
Nah, but it's nice to have a bit of variety. Personally, I watch the Phillip DeFranco show on top of this, it's one of the most unbiased news channels on UA-cam.
Thomas Iobst Thanks! I was looking for something on top of the daily show to watch and have got one now so dankie 😁
Don't give them any ideas Trevor.
From Melania's face it seems that the first lady position may be open soon.
"Fuchs News isn't going to watch itself" - hilarious!
I bet Hilary Clinton is looking like a better candidate by the day.
lol no
She's still shit, and so is the DNC. People wouldn't have voted for Trump if the DNC weren't such asshats and nominated Sanders as the candidate. People would have voted _for_ Sander; people voted _against_ Hillary.
Hakuraita
People are stupid enough to have voted for Trump already. What makes you think they would get smart?
People make mistakes. Doesn't mean they can't try to correct them.
Not everyone who voted for Trump was a vicious idiot; but only vicious idiots would remain with him now.
Actually anything is looking like a better possible president right now
Oh but to fill the Supreme Court judge seat, he was Speedy González and Roadrunner combine!
two weeks in the White House, a lifetime in prison - 😀😀😀
"...Two weeks in the WH...a lifetime in prison....." lmfao!
Getting info from CNN. They have had a good week . Loads of true stories . This guy cracks me up reading other people's joke .
MSNBC advertising Comey hearing as a season finale shows how far gone American people is.
Just as padme said. SO this is how liberty dies.. with thunderous vacancy
Brilliant!
I'm glad that people turning him down, and not accepting his job offers out of fear or something.
and many positions that *have* been filled were appointed to incompetents or those with apparent conflicts of interest
deliberately
Trevor gives best metaphors
haha, so when he sayed he would be creating more jobes i did not realize he would be fireing people to make them.
that white house ad at the end sounded like it was made by Alex Jones
ROFLMAO!!!!! One of the best segments yet! lol
I this how he's draining the swamp????
kkk "Two weeks in the WH, a life time in prison" hhhh hella funny.
Lock Him Up !!! Crooked Donald!!
"Two weeks in the White House. A lifetime in prison." Oh snap
"Two weeks in the White House! A lifetime in prison!" Sounds like one crazy theme park, but I doubt it'll put Disney World out of business.
this is just sad
yes it is
SAD!
Two weeks in the white house a lifetime in prison x)
Even rats run to leave a sinking ship. It may get worse as Comey is about to blow a big hole in the hull.
Where are those salaries going?
Trumpet you are fired
I'm not sure Fox News isn't watching itself...
I love it when Trevor laughs before the joke
Reminds me of the Katt Williams joke - "can we as a country be single for awhile?" Maybe not filling the positions is test of this!
Given whats been happening here in the UK it might be a good idea for Trump to get around to nominating his replacement Ambassador
Bullsh*t! How would Trump need to do everything himself!?
He still has Jared.
I died at Wild wild West wing USA!!
I feel like if I just send in some random resume I found online, I'd get hired to a White House positions immediately.
Well..he sáid he was going to make more jobs available.
I just think nobody understood that those were going to be other people's jobs. Not new ones.
Now if you'll excuse me...I gotta ride my bicycle and check on my windmills, while singing out loud about being happy to be Dutch.
this was the best CC show i have ever watched.. super last bits
So I wonder how much government money are they saving by not paying anyone in those 400 vacant positions?
That's what it was like to work for Sita Reddy
so america has over a 100 leaderless embassies
when we start to take what comedians say seriously and our leaders for a joke , tell yourself your country is in trouble 🤕.
Why not hire his WWF wrestling buddies, I'm sure they are 'loyal' and have experience faking it on the job
That is why he talks about himself in the third person .
Not true but those who are useless are being removed
Mike pence's head exploding had me dead
even the Devil would,nt want the job.
Maybe Harvey Specter from Pearson Specter Litt could save his ass, if he accepts to now be the best closer in Washington
This whole situation in America is just getting funnier everyday!!! hahahahahaha
#INSANE
Well hes created jobs...but such jobs that even those who had them dont want them. 😂😂. at this rate there will be lots mote jobs but ...
I want to get off Mr. Trumps Wild Ride.
Don Alone hahaha
Nice, but not perfect. I don't think roller coasters are the right analogy- because, overall, we know they are safe. Footage for the ad should have featured cars speeding off a cliff, and people walking in the street while a piano lands on their heads. 😏
Seems to be working without them...
When u think that by now comedian might runout of Trump's jokes 😂
I would genuinely like to see how Trump supporters would defend this
Trevor Noah is too funny, just waiting for him to come to London for a show
i like him. i would have voted for him. orange is the new black.
great job,
The worst part is, the comparison with creepy house vs haunted house might even work out here...
He just needs to find some idiots wanting to do the job, afterall, he found enough to be elected... should be more than plenty available.
People don't want the harpies to attacking them and their families.
If it's like the Titanic, he will let go
this is just GENUINELY fucking bonkers.
Grumpy - you are fired
'Amateur Hour' is fucking right!
4:25 Guess what, he quit too.
Make America North Korea...for the first time...lets migrate to France together...
Trevor needs to make trailers yo
Nobody wants to work with Trump?
didn't he have 2 tv shows where people and celebrities compete to work for him?
Skrap TM not everyone gets paid before the first day
Trump's way of creating jobs, "fire the old ones"
Watching this from Europe .....should we europeans be worried about Donald 'Tiny Hands' Trump ?
I need an employment
