ABANDONED LIRR TRAIN AND TRACKS!!!

- The Montauk Cutoff was a rail line in Long Island City, Queens, that was built in the 1900s for the purpose of connecting the LIRR Montauk Branch to Sunnyside Yard. Trains would be pulled in and out of Sunnyside Yard as well as freight cars and locomotives alone. By the 1970s, freight traffic slowed down and the line became seldom used. It was officially decommissioned by the MTA in 2015, and its future remains uncertain. Plans have been created to turn the rail embankment into an elevated public park, similar to the Highline in Manhattan, although nothing is official... Looking at the tremendous increase in residential development in Long Island City recently, it wouldn't be surprising if those plans come tp fruition.

Btw, the abandoned LIRR train model is either tha m1 or tha m3 those trains are from the 70s and 80s
I still remember the M1's, and I was 3 years old when the LIRR started running them. However, I never knew about them until the 1970's.
M3s are still running, rode one the other day
Bence 3217 me too shit was ancient
I think its an M1
@@liangliangwu2374 It's either an M1 or an M3
Liked this too. I've hiked the 12-mile abandoned LIRR grade, now a trail, stretching from Port Jefferson to Wading River. No tracks, but you can imagine how it was before service was stopped in 1938.
The last time my friends and I went to the train, we had to run from security.
Must've been scary.
Thats unfortunate, i never really had any problems over there lol.
Where were they at? Lol
rowwy reminds me of subway surfers lol
@@urbannyc935 You should be this is trespassing.
The abandoned commuter trains are gone now. All that is left are those container flat cars. So glad you caught it on film. Now back up those files.
Did you go there? How could I get there? Oh yea the MTA must have scrapped the M3 set
I went the day before, on May 9th, but didn’t get past all that garbage because I saw a really sketchy guy, and I ended up turning back :/
Rip
@Rafiquil Alam i been tryna go but don’t know anyone who’d be down if u still are bro lmk
I've been there about 3 times and went the same you way you did. Down the abandoned tracks, over the bridge (dutch kills) and around the corner to the abandoned LIRR train. Very cool that you got to go there.
where is it?
@@doodkfkrpekfmfmrke4998 It's on the tracks right next to: 30-27 Greenpoint Ave, Queens, NY 11101
Long Island City
You ever just get to a video so early that it's not available at anything better than 360p?
All the time.
LOL. Gotta give it a lil while for the HD to process
@@urbannyc935 isn't it beautiful to see trains that are abandoned? It's like a museum accept it's scrapped.
Nice lucky u wanna go there myself in person
Easy as fuck to get into
2:10 oh you knew you were gonna find some pino there lol
It's on the tracks right behind 30-27 Greenpoint Ave, Queens, NY 11101
🐐
It was a pair of M3 cars but I wonder which ones though since I didn't see a number. Those 2 might have been the ones involved in the Brentwood crash fire from 2-3 years ago I don't know
Thank you for your content. You were the guys who got me into Urbex! Eternally graceful
Always happy to hear that!
One of my friends got a gun pulled on him buy a cop at the train once
How could they just leave them to die like that? Not to mention the real estate that's wasting away? Typical MTA inefficiency.
That is a scrapped M3 LIRR train that you saw. It was there for a while. So sad that it is in such bad condition. People really could restore it and make a better use of it.
yes sir. They moved it around a few times but other than that its gonna stay heavily vandalized for a while until scrapping.
@@urbannyc935 You should travel to the Abandoned LIRR Rockaway Beach branch next. You should check out the Woodhaven Junction station that used to connect the Atlantic Beach via a viaduct. Also check out the Ozone Park Station as well. I love your channel by the way. Any channel or video related to NYC is my favorite.
@@thexboxgamer9128 I've actually checked it out 5 years ago, but I might return to make a video there! Gonna be in the winter most likely since right now its extremely overgrown.
@@urbannyc935 do you know if the train is still there & how long is the walk from the start path on skillman?
Due to the reduction in service because of the pandemic I haven't seen any M3 cars in service in over a year. There are also new M9 cars being delivered which are intended to replace them.
I went today and got sketched out at the train bridge down by the water. Saw a boat with a ton of dishes on it. Might have been police
What happened to the line that served Ozone Park and Rego Park back in the 1950s and 60s?
You must be talking about the rockaway beach branch. It has become abandoned ever since it closed down. Its still stands to this day actually and you can access it really easily though its a bit overgrown. However as of last year there has been plans about reactivating the line again for the LIRR or the subway!
Where is this train located?
That abandoned M3 is no longer there. It got sent to the scarp yard because sanitation workers complained a lot
Looked like two suns setting at the end
Is that the same set parked at the Hunters Point Station?
Damn, son went MIA for a good while but real glad to see you back and up for posting, that content fire 🔥 keep it up
Sick editing! 😎
Chillest place to urbex. Never encountered any problems only had to be quiet when they were coupling the freight cars
They removed the train RIP :(💔
can I ask where did you park?
It’s best that the mta ,the city ,and governor start selling rail lines to private companies like they do in Japan which has the best transit
Very Nice Video, I like it very much. I like those sick Slo-Mo Shots.
Anyone know where this is?
I doubt you’ll answer this but I’m trying to go today with some friends would you be able to tell me where this located like the abandoned train with the graphite on it
Long Island city
Those two abandoned cars are M3's car #'s 9782 and 9781 built between 1984-1986 most likely 1984.
That’s Long Island city queens
RIP THESE TRAINS THEY ARE GONE
There’s just less of them
@@TheProSpyOfPiggyno they removed these abandoned cars from the tracks they were on, they got scrapped and are literally gone
Living the life, exploring the City. ✌️
Awesome video!
where you guys went isnt abandoned, you went past the cutoff and onto an active freight railroad owned by a freight company called "The new york atlantic railway". they operate trains through there every night! so be careful.
Ur vids are so real love it

Very impressive Mr Submarine
Really good video are you planning on doing another subway exploration?
I grew up In the Richmond hill Ozone park area of queens, there was an abandoned elevated line that crossed 101st Ave, then went under the liberty ave, A train line. there was even a huge signal bridge near 101st Ave, that had remained lit even though it was long out of service. I see on google this is still there today. Was this the Howard beach branch or Rockaway?
I grew up in that neighborhood, near Liberty Avenue and have been up on that structure many times. Today it is not easy at all to access and much of the property has been claimed by private businesses and secured for their own use. Not much to pick up there anymore. Not much to see.
@@paulpatalano6832 That was a great area to grow up in back in the day, I was on 109 St. one block off Liberty. Never got to see the abandoned elevated line from up top but I always noticed the lit signal bridge at 101st Ave. Some people said there was a bridge that burned over Jamaica bay and that took that line out of service.
Yes, it was. I grew up in Howard Beach
Here for my boy Charlie
From sunny side yard, where does it, or did it lead to?
Some of what you're seeing here is part of the Lower Montauk Branch that starts at Jamaica and ends at Long Island City (the bridge is part of the Lower Montauk Branch in Long Island City). Passenger service ended years ago but it's now used for freight service by the New York & Atlantic Railway.
This was probably here in 2009 or something I don’t know I wasn’t born in that day
The textbook is still there to this day

Never seen a set of M3s look like a pair of New York City Subway cars from the '70s. Sad sight. Oh, by the way, for the New Yorkers out there, it's pronounced, "Long Island Rail Road." Say it with this fellow New Yorker. Ready? "Long Island Rail Road." It's NOT "Lung-ow-reh-ruhd." Got it? Good!
I want to go to New York and ride the LIRR!!
Gotta be careful there
What does these tracks connect to?
At the beginning that guy looked like Steven Suptic
Great vid yo
veri gord soobmarine! i expect new content soon
Nice video 👍
Where is the, ima go there one day
That is a M3
My budd m3's😔
How do I get there? Nice video
How do you get there
awesome
yo is this illegal? i’m tryna go but i’m a lil sketched out
Lmao duh it's trespassing but before going in just survey the area a bit and you good. I never been here either but know people that have
@@lilbank2521 alr bet thx
seeing all of this makes me sad
I wonder if that abandoned car is still there 🤔
Why do people still do stuff like this to trains... it's so sad..
Tbh it’s a nice spot to go to but there’s mad people and it’s an active yard (easy as fuck to hide) but you can also climb some of the bridges there and there’s other places to go there other than the trains themselves
Make more abandoned video
Gonna run out of abandoned places soon, but I'm always looking for places to explore and document haha!
Urban NYC Hart Island? Some of the remote islands off Staten Island. Have to get a boat or something. How about the end of Dyre Ave on the #5. Lots of old railroad stuff
Urban NYC 2 avenue station on the F line. The abandoned middle tracks
Urban NYC how about the tunnel before you go into Grand Street from the Manhattan Bridge. Would like to see that tunnel that veers to the left. No tracks
My favorite spot 😈
Hey guys how are you doing love you’re videos on this one in particular there’s a song that I like that start at 307 and goes to almost the end of the video do you guys know the name of it let me know.take care 👍👍
It’s “Amber Lights” by Chill Cole
Nice
If you were wondering what is in the green cars...trash cars waiting to go to the landfill in Virginia.
Does anyone know how to there? If so is there a way to contact who ever knows how to get there lol
Why won’t they use the cut off it can be useful

New York today:
I don't understand why the MTA cannot just scrap these trains and other's that are no longer in use "maybe it would somewhat help them get out of there debt problem's".
