Also I learned in my mechanics class, is springs wear comes from movement of up and down, simply leaving it compressed or decompressed does not wear a spring out.
You can always get the break away connections and attach it to the para-cord while still keeping it adjustable. There are break away knots that can be implemented as well.
To fix the "paracord will choke you" issue, I bought some DIY necklace clap things. Basically, it's a male and female piece of plastic. You one end of paracord through the male piece, and one in the female piece. You melt the ends and flatten them so they don't come out, then pop them together. They pop apart when you pull real hard, and they're cheap. Just search DIY necklace on Amazon and you'll find them.
I have the croc flip flop/sandal thing. It's the best sandal/flip flop combo I've owned ever. It's lasted so long. I think I need to buy a new one now.
A minor correction if I may: the 380 are not the same size bullet as the 9 mm as you stated They are approximately the same width . Standard 380 comes with 80, 85 or 90 grain projectiles. The commercial standard for 9 mm is of course 115 grain but the 124 grain and 147 grain subsonic (usually for carabines) ones are also common. Back when I reloaded all my ammo, defensive rounds including, I tested using the 9 mm 115 grain projectiles on a 380 casings by adjusting propellant type and load. Ballistic results were great but I did not have sufficient rounds fired to determine feed reliability so they were used for range training only. Lastly, you want to try that on a barrel forged from German made steel. (As a disclaimer I am not suggesting anyone try that - just sharing my experience).Tks.
Handkerchief. Finally we hear someone state the real benefits of its carry. There was a study done with sneezing where people put food coloring in their mouth before a sneeze. EVERY common method of cover, hands, arm, etc. let dye fly out to 6+ft. Using a tissue or handkerchief kept 100% of the dye from flying out. I carry one with me everywhere, especially when mountain biking because of the first aid application you alluded to. Thanks Jeff. Good EDC vid.
I remember when I bought my first couple of those I asked, "Have you seen any boost in sales recently after Jeff reviewed your product?" He replied "Oh yeah, I've sold out twice...", lol
I carry three handkerchiefs daily. A dirty plain white one for my nose. I keep a relatively clean turquoise blue one for wiping sweat and spills and wiping rain off my glasses and phone screen, inside I fold a glasses cloth for properly cleaning my glasses. Then I keep my fanciest tartan handkerchief in a little wrap of white linen in my change pocket on its own. This keeps it cleanly folded and crisp and I fragrance it regularly so it smells nice by boiling it with mint leaves lightly so it's nice and clean and smells nice. This handkerchief is for comforting people who are crying, a lot of my family and friends are elderly and suffer from depression, so it sees quite a lot of use. It would also be the 'kerchief I'd use for a wound. Because it's deep red tartan and blood wouldn't ruin it, it'd just give it a sexy weathering. And I love weathered stuff. That and it's mainly sterile. Just my 2 pennies, being British. :D Wish I could carry a gun. Have a great day, Jeff. c:
In short barrels (3.5" and smaller), I carry Hornady Critical Defense, in longer barrels (4" and above), I carry Speer Gold Dot. I don't have a .380, but in 9mm I carry the Gold Dot 124 GN +P. Most of the current defensive ammo performs so close to the others, I don't think it much matters so long as you match barrel length to bullet weight. You need velocity to make the bullet expand, which is why I go lighter in shorter barrels and increasingly heavier in longer barrels.
Federal HST .. any grain.. I'm personally a fan of the heavy for caliber stuff.. 147 grain 9mm... as for .380, penetration is gonna be key.. I love anything with the XTP style round.. Fiocci makes a great one..
I bought some Chauly Changers when you showed it as an edc years ago..... EVERYTIME (bold/underlined) I've used it and that's everyday, I get a comment from younger people like the cashiers that say Cool and older people think it's amazing.
Best .380 ammo for small mouse guns is federal hydrashok low recoil. Best 9mm ammo is any Federal HST either 124 grain or 147 grain. 50 round box if you can find it online is about $30 a box.
I personally carry a fox knives 479 karambit, and I've found that it carries best in the normal carry and to deploy I just pull it out of my pocket, but perpendicular to my body. Figured I'd mention it here since I also carry it for deployment into the reverse grip.
I went t web site and ordered two Chawly changers. I also edc a keltec P-32 which is very lightweight. Love it and would not carry otherwise. I use the clip they sell as my "holster"
For self defense ammo, I'm partial to either Speer Gold Dots in 124gr. or Federal HST in 124 or 147gr. While I do have some that are +P, I don't really think it makes much difference.
For ammo i would recommend corbon DPX, Federal HST or Winchester PDX1, all are great rounds that penetrate deep and expand even after barriers and fabric.
My EDC, cold steel spartan, CRKT minimalist, keychain with keys, victorinox recruit, ferro rod, flashlight, and pry bar, I also carry pepper spray, streamlight stylus pro, wallet, paracord bracelet, leatherman supertool 200, maxpedition micro pocket organizer with a victorinox one hand trekker, a lighter, matches, band aids, blood stop powder, paracord, twine, gerber dime, fisher space pen, duct tape, chapstick, super glue, and yeah that's about it :)
Ha! That's funny...I do the exact same thing with my ammo. My OCD notices the minor nicks in it, and I'll feel the rough edges, then rotate the ammo. Been watching and subbed to you for a few years now. I think I need a chawly changer. I'll have to find one of those! Just started my channel. Not the best video, but an attempt to share my EDC. I've spent enough time on UA-cam, and decided to begin sharing, learning and enjoy networking with the online world. Lots of great folks out there I'm constantly relating to, one way or another. Looking forward to getting more involved with the UA-cam community. Good video as usual. Take care!
I just started carrying ruger arx ammo in my xds45. it supposedly gives the same results as a hollow point but feeds better And isn't affected by layers. It's lightweight too. noticeable difference in the carry weight of my extra mag. Fed flawlessly.
You can swing the neckknife cord so that its on your back when your eating and then move back to the chest after , i ran into the exact same problem and this is what my father told me when we were at the Outback Steakhouse their tables sit really high and seem to run right into your chest. Waiting on a review of the 511 that toenail karambit blade is weird looking
regarding the neckknife (my prefered edc knife carry method!): try to not make a knot but meld the paracord and 'hotglue' it together. works great for me, and should break later than balled chain, but sooner than knotted paracord.
i am a fan of big, slow and heavy so in 9mm i like 147gr, and bonded if you can get it. i like federal hst and of course speer gold dot. corbon, hornady, and double tap used to be what i got the best deals on locally until i started ordering from sgammo. theyre great to deal with.
I tend to stick with Hornady Critical Duty or critical defense. after watching a tnoutdoors9 video, I grabbed some HST for my 1911. I'll probably grab some hst in other flavors to try out.
Federal HST Jeff. I like the 124gr +P or the 147+P but the standard pressures do great as well. Its considered the best atm by many people. Look up the ammo tests here on UA-cam. SGammo.com has it come into stock fairly regularly. There's also some speculation that you should stock up on pistol ammo now. Once California passes their "no online ammo" ban next year some industry experts are saying it could cause a shortage. Thats because something like 1 in 3 pistols sold in the US are sold in Cali and they are gonna eat up all the pistol ammo that will have to now be shipped there to retail sellers to fill demand. They are guessing that there will be a shortage for a long while until manufactures figure it out and catch up. They are also saying to a lesser degree it will happen with rifle ammo as well. But the law doesn't go into effect for a while so you got some time.
I don't get too caught up in the latest "super duper" defense ammo. I'm of the opinion that a quality JHP of proper weight will do the trick just fine. I usually go with Remington Golden Saber. My big thing it that I tend to not carry as often during the summer months when clothing is more lightweight and more apt to print. During the winter it is no big deal, I just carry outside the waistband and wear a blazer to work. I need to find a good method for summer carry.
for defensive ammo in .380 or 9mm i would suggest either R.I.P. (dont remember the exact brand off the top of my head) or anything from lehigh defense they put out some awesome stuff that is just insane and they have a ton of variety in their own catalog so look at their website and pick wut suits you best
They're just simple half hitch knots. Tie one end around the other then pull the other end through & do the same thing. If you did it right you should be able to adjust it but the knots block each other from sliding loose.
hey cutlerylover im running Lehigh Defense- extreme defender for 9mm & for the 380acp im running Lehigh defense -maximum expansion with the extreme defender mixed..the Lehigh defense -ED if you think about it this won't clog up like a traditional hollow point because the cavity of the bullet is on the outside. the brand Underwood make them also in regular or plus-P. sorry for rambling. stay safe bro.
Like your EDC. As far as Self Defense ammo for 9mm/.380, Spear Gold Dots hands down. 124 grain for 9mm and 90 grain for .380. You wont be disappointed.
i recommend adding a lighter to your EDC, because you never know when u need fire and maybe someone needs light. i Edc a lighter and find it very useful and takes up almost no space
If you haven't picked a new 9mm carry round, get some Winchester PDX1, Speer Gold Dot, or Federal HST if you can find it. They will all do the job. As long as you have a good premium defense round and rotate them out every once in a while, you should be fine. What is more important is that you can hit what you need to hit.
Could you try a collectible elemental knives cogs gut knife as your edc, it would be interesting to see how those knives hold up in comparison to normal knives.
For your Glock 19 i think you should try Federal HST 147,150,124 Grains. recently bought a surefire lx2 lumamax that i EDC and this week im picking up my first rifle, A FNAR next on the weapons related to get list is a Glock 19 or 17 or a Ruger 10/22.
hey jeff! i just traded my knife for a kahr arms spyderco delica! and also i think that the night is for going outside and getting fresh air, and he day is for staying inside and watching movies. i cant stand the dry colorado heat. love your videos! keep it up
Underwood ammo has some of the best defensive rounds out. It's good to switch out or shoot your old rounds that got chambered a few times, bullet setback is dangerous and can blow up your gun !!!
Cool edc! Very similar to mine. Have you thought about adding a multitool? I bough a leather man squirt ps4 (2oz) recently and I don't know how I made it this long without one. Got my girly one too and she loves it, also they are only 40$
I like Remington Golden Sabres 147grain for self defense these days. Nice EDC going there! Phone saga, I had 2-iPhone 6+ and both bit the dust, total failures. So, I went with the newer and smaller SE, which is the size of the iPhone 5 series but with the newer chip and a far more durable case than the huge 6+. Verizon (my carrier and where I purchase my phones) told me that Apple was aware of an issue with the 6+ flexing in it's earlier configurations and that supposedly the new versions had been beefed up but Apple denied this with me over the phone (also Lifeproof hung up on me when I called them just to let them know that their cases were not compatible with the 6+ because their cases flex too. Both of mine were in LP cases) and wouldn't work with me on a replacement. Verizon however stepped up to the plate and allowed me to upgrade my phone 7 months early because of the situation. Kudos to Verizon.
actually I use my neck knives daily and when I go wander in the woods it does get caught very easily and I have been running once home and it got caught and I "tripped."
They also give you less penetration and do less damage than your typical Federal HST when shit into ballistics gel. Cool idea but not sure thats the best round to carry.
That is arguable. If a bullet over penetrates a target it disperses a large portion of its energy outside the target thus doing then than the maximum potential damage. Whereas, a bullet that stops in its target releases all of its energy in said target. Which maximizes on the projectiles damage potential. At least where reletivly slow moving projectiles like handgun bullets are concerned. When legally using a handgun for self defense, you are 100% responsible for the damage caused by your bullets. So, if the bullet leaves the target it can cause damage to things other than the intended target. At least, that is my opinion on the matter.
Can you review any one of the knives from ElementalKnives, I dont know how high quality they are but I think most of the knives are 420 Steel. They say they are designed for display which they are (because of the fancy patterns), but I was wondering how well they cope with wear. Thankyou :)
I carry that for my 9mm (135 grain +P) and I carry the precision one or hornady american gunner which still has the xtp bullet. Nice choices, I can probably guess who's youtube videos you have been watching as well lol.
I know it may not be that big a topic, but what is your opinion on wallets with a chain. other than security purposes what do you think it's good and bad for
I just checked their website too. I originally ordered a couple when I first learned about them from Jeff. I still have a black one which they no longer make! So that makes me feel special. :P
Great video Jeff, These are always among my favorite,
Im glad you enjoy them Cody
"if you do have jacked up feet, put on some sneakers so no one has to see them." made me laugh xD
Also I learned in my mechanics class, is springs wear comes from movement of up and down, simply leaving it compressed or decompressed does not wear a spring out.
Jeff I'm so happy that you do what you do.
You can always get the break away connections and attach it to the para-cord while still keeping it adjustable. There are break away knots that can be implemented as well.

The Fiocchi Extrema XTP 90 gr 380 acp works great out of my Kahr CW 380. (ShootingTheBull410 did a great review of the ammo.)
I just started carrying ruger arx ammo in my xds45. it supposedly gives the same results as a hollow point but feeds better And isn't affected by layers. It's lightweight too. noticeable difference in the carry weight of my extra mag. Fed flawlessly.

get you some HST's you can't go wrong with those, I use 147 +P's, but weight a d pressures are up to you, HST is a GREAT round all around!
EDC's are always fun to watch!
9mm: corbon 115 grain DPX.
.380: hornady American gunner, or anything similar that's a 90 grain XTP bullet with real velocities in the 900fps range.
9mm- Federal HST, Winchester Ranger, Speer Gold Dot. .380- Federal Hydra Shock and Hornady Critical Defense.
Look at alien gear holsters I have the 3.0 cloak tuck and it's the most comfortable holster I've owned
Stealth Gear Onyx IWB is by far the best hybrid holster I've come across.
You should attack some balistics gel with the 511 knife before you snap the 2nd blade
i am a fan of big, slow and heavy so in 9mm i like 147gr, and bonded if you can get it. i like federal hst and of course speer gold dot. corbon, hornady, and double tap used to be what i got the best deals on locally until i started ordering from sgammo. theyre great to deal with.
Yes, the website for Chawley Changers is still their and the prices are the same as what I paid years ago.
Winchester Ranger Bonded or T-series. Formerly known as Winchester Black Talon. I carry the 147 gr. in a Glock 19. Its truly some badass ammo!
I tend to stick with Hornady Critical Duty or critical defense. after watching a tnoutdoors9 video, I grabbed some HST for my 1911. I'll probably grab some hst in other flavors to try out.
I carry .40 Critical Duty also after watching his video!
+20FirstCentury Prepper tnoutdoors9 has always been my go to channel for ammo reviews.
+karacer same here ever since I started carrying a gun I watch +tnoutdoors9 and take his recommendations.

federal HST are awesome rounds. hands down my favorite self-defense rd

i am getting my first spyderco at the end of the month the byrd meadowlark with a half serrated blade.
The cold steel spartan is one of the best knives I've ever had I've had it for 3 years
I use federal HST 124grain standard pressure. A very good loading
for defensive ammo in .380 or 9mm i would suggest either R.I.P. (dont remember the exact brand off the top of my head) or anything from lehigh defense they put out some awesome stuff that is just insane and they have a ton of variety in their own catalog so look at their website and pick wut suits you best
G2 research is the company that makes the RIP rounds i just picked them up for my .45
+Andrew Piper thanks bro
RIP is a joke, DRT does it better at way less of a price.
For the G19, Speer Gold Dot 124gr and for the holster, Old Faithful iwb.
Can you show us how to tie the neck knife knots?
They're just simple half hitch knots. Tie one end around the other then pull the other end through & do the same thing. If you did it right you should be able to adjust it but the knots block each other from sliding loose.
hey cutlerylover im running Lehigh Defense- extreme defender for 9mm & for the 380acp im running Lehigh defense -maximum expansion with the extreme defender mixed..the Lehigh defense -ED if you think about it this won't clog up like a traditional hollow point because the cavity of the bullet is on the outside. the brand Underwood make them also in regular or plus-P. sorry for rambling. stay safe bro.
thanks for the suggestion
glad you stepped up the watch game! Always go automatic
## The Maratac looks real nice on that Bond NATO strap..
Like your EDC. As far as Self Defense ammo for 9mm/.380, Spear Gold Dots hands down. 124 grain for 9mm and 90 grain for .380. You wont be disappointed.

Best 9mm defensive ammo in my opinion hands down is Federal HST 147gr.
I love the idea of the chawley changer! I could really use one.
check out some of the offerings from Lehigh defence... I like the maximum expansion
do a tutorial on the adjustable necklace
I own a 47mm Flieger (pilotwatch) and although I love it, it doesn't really wear comfortably. So, you're right about the watch comment.
Could you try a collectible elemental knives cogs gut knife as your edc, it would be interesting to see how those knives hold up in comparison to normal knives.
For your Glock 19 i think you should try Federal HST 147,150,124 Grains.
recently bought a surefire lx2 lumamax that i EDC and this week im picking up my first rifle, A FNAR next on the weapons related to get list is a Glock 19 or 17 or a Ruger 10/22.
hey jeff! i just traded my knife for a kahr arms spyderco delica! and also i think that the night is for going outside and getting fresh air, and he day is for staying inside and watching movies. i cant stand the dry colorado heat. love your videos! keep it up
Get some surgical tubing for the ends of the paracord if you feel unsafe
Underwood ammo has some of the best defensive rounds out. It's good to switch out or shoot your old rounds that got chambered a few times, bullet setback is dangerous and can blow up your gun !!!
Yessss I just saw 90% of these last week I was waiting for another one haha great vid
The best defensive ammo is the ammo you have when you need it
look at Underwood extreme defender ammo. good for the 380 and 9mm
I carry Hornady Critical Duty in my M&P9 and it works well
After watching several of these edc carry videos, I would like to see a video with someone actually using one of those knives for something.
great video Jeff! hope you enjoy your summer!
-Adam
Cool edc! Very similar to mine. Have you thought about adding a multitool? I bough a leather man squirt ps4 (2oz) recently and I don't know how I made it this long without one. Got my girly one too and she loves it, also they are only 40$
What is that smaller pistol I love it
hey Evan were can I buy your knives or are they not done yet ?
Try federal hydra shock hollow point ammo for both .380 and 9mm.
Hpr black ops for 9mm. They seem to be pretty good for a self defense round. Plus they look cool haha
You remind me of Jim from The Office!
Just ordered a Chris Reeve Sebenza 21 Insingo for EDC, any thoughts?
I like Remington Golden Sabres 147grain for self defense these days. Nice EDC going there!
Phone saga,

For your Glock 9mm, I like the ballistics of the Federal HST 147 grain. No idea for your .380 Kel.
What exactly is the keltech. I think it'd look great in my collection
actually I use my neck knives daily and when I go wander in the woods it does get caught very easily and I have been running once home and it got caught and I "tripped."
Federal premium guard dog rounds. For both of your guns. Expanding FMJs give you the best of both worlds for defensive ammo.
They also give you less penetration and do less damage than your typical Federal HST when shit into ballistics gel.
Cool idea but not sure thats the best round to carry.

Loved the "jacked up" feet comment. You are so right with that Jeff.
Can you review any one of the knives from ElementalKnives, I dont know how high quality they are but I think most of the knives are 420 Steel. They say they are designed for display which they are (because of the fancy patterns), but I was wondering how well they cope with wear. Thankyou :)
When will you review the second Walmart knife?
Hornady critical duty for 9mm and precision one for 380
I carry that for my 9mm (135 grain +P) and I carry the precision one or hornady american gunner which still has the xtp bullet. Nice choices, I can probably guess who's youtube videos you have been watching as well lol.
I know it may not be that big a topic, but what is your opinion on wallets with a chain. other than security purposes what do you think it's good and bad for
I also have a glock 19. I recommend alien gear IWB holster. sometimes I forget im wearing it. lol.
I checked the chawly changer is still available
How do u make the adjustable Paracord...I really need that feature
Cross the ends and tie each end to the other cord.
Summer came here to Texas in June lol!
I carry my pressed aluminium knuckle duster and a flick knife on either my boot or at the side of my belt.
Can you give me specs on the light you carry by chance?
380 defensive ammo = Hornady Critical Defense; 9mm = standard pressure Federal HST (not hydroshok) 124gr
I'm surprised that so very few people EDC an emergency powersource for thier phones in this day and age.
I Just ordered 2 of the chawley changers the web site is still up! Got the smoke one for me and the purple keychain one for the wife!
Ditto, just ordered mine. I am a 65 year old little boy trapped in an old mans body and when I grow up I want to be just like Jeff :)
cool
Excuse me ?
I just checked their website too. I originally ordered a couple when I first learned about them from Jeff. I still have a black one which they no longer make! So that makes me feel special. :P
Check out a Stealthgear holster. I have one for my Glock 19. They are great especially in the summer. Worth the money.
