I can make a wish without winning this whatsoever though.

That is an unlucky deal. Unfortunately, it does mean you have lost before you even started.

Now I know why they call it wish solitaire, because you wish that the cards you flip over are the right ones, huh.

If you're playing with real cards and don't have or want to make a 32-card deck, you can play basically the same game with a full deck under the name Doublets. Deal 12 tableau piles instead of 8 and set the remaining cards aside face-down as a reserve pile, the top card of which will fill an empty tableau space until the pile is exhausted.

If you're stripping a deck of 52 cards down to 32, simply set the extra 20 cards aside. In some parts of the world, though, such stripped decks are standard; solitaires played with stripped decks are generally invented for players with only stripped decks on hand. If you don't want to strip a deck of 52 cards to play this game, try the related game Doublets instead.
