- This was my first reaction to Halo 2 Uncut, brought to you by Vengeful Vadam. He spent over 2 years meticulously going through and trying to bring back to life the things that Bungie just didn't have time for. I hope you enjoy this gem of a game, get it for free in the steam workshop.

Wild to know that the game was widely acclaimed in the state that it was released when it could’ve easily been twice as long and as interesting with all the cut content, that final act would’ve been amazing.
Maybe in another universe
Worst part is that there is still a lot missing that was never in a finished state. :(
Yea, they made an excellent game for the restrictions they were given. Just like animation, how good a game is depends on how long the creators are given to make their art. Art takes time :)

I mean the only other time was winning the moist challenge 😂 playing it puts a smile on my face as well. Just cool to see halo have some new this and that to spice it up once in a while. Love mods like this and with steam workshop it's never been easier.
Great video! But also gotta keep in mind that there many reasons things were cut:
1. Bungie ran out of time to properly finish, balance, and polish content (ex. Flood Juggernaut, Spike Grenades)
2. Bungie was forced to cut content because the OG XBOX couldn’t handle it (ex. The ending part of Regret, extra encounters, extra allies)
3. Bungie realized the content itself made no sense or was dumb to begin with (ex. Banshee in Cairo Station, Shadows, Wraith charging shot)
Still unreal that this was possible to pull back from the grave bungie unfortunately put it in, kudos to Vengeful Vadam!
Has Chief’s armour been restored to the beta Halo 2 Armour? More specifically how Chief’s Armour looks from promotional screenshots, the Manuel and cover art? Just curious if its in this Uncut version as I think it’s the best looking imo. If not that’s cool but would love to see it added and maybe the character models slightly polished to still resemble there classic models.

The flood in this version of the game actually feels dangerous and like an infestation more than they did in the release
God I played this for hours once I found it, I don’t know if I ever want to play the regular halo 2 campaign again it was so fun
The online challenges seem to be the only reason.
Single shot battle rifle and the sound and of the SMG’s from the E3 demo was the only thing I ever wanted..

I’m actually glad Bungie had to make tough choices and cut content in Halo 2. Also, listening to interviews with the Bungie team, Halo 2 was supposed to finish the whole story. So I’m glad a lot of story content got cut because Halo 3 is my favorite game of all time.
Iirc it wasn't the end of the series, Halo 2 was the end of the human covenant war and then the next game would be a galactic war against the flood with the covenant.
Halo 3 was probably my favorite game of all time too, but Halo 2’s campaign was longer and more interesting. Halo 3’s campaign should have been longer. Maybe it’s just because we have the Ark and the Covenant, 2 of the best levels in the series back to back followed by Cortana, my least favorite mission in the entire series, and the last mission, Halo being underwhelming compared to other blockbuster missions in the series.
Everybody calling H3 the best game, H2 had everything in my eyes. :)

And yeah, I started “playing” Halo 2 when I was just 2 years old. Obviously wasn’t doing much, but I’ve loved this game for as long as I can remember being alive. Crazy, I know lol.

Took me like 4 days but a full watch. The game feels so much more complete. You can feel and see the convent breaking apart and factions forming. The game feels more chaotic and less silent inbetween battles. The dialog explains a lot and those empty spaces or pans in the cut scenes have the itesms that make so much sense now. Bungee not only ran out of time but the game was too large to put on one disc so they didn’t have time or resources to make a two disc game. Originally halo 2-3 were supposed to be one game but we were blessed with H3.
This why Halo 2 is the best. I played this more times than I can count and still enjoy watching someone else play. There's just something special about this game.
man i must have played through h2 a total of a hundred times with my step bro and cousins/ MCC Speedrunning. i just got back to halo for the first time in 2 years and im totally hooked like it was day 1

As a Halo fan Im never more intrigued and entertained by the game than when Im either experiencing for myself or watching someone else experience good Halo content on a good Halo game.
By that I mean I care little for all the new BS on new Halos but more so for the older content that was forgotten or cared little for. And seeing guys like jervalin enjoy it genuinely makes me want to go play and enjoy the game like he is
Which is made even stronger when I realize that 343 is trying so hard to do the opposite of that
Trying to 'broaden' their audience with new content and stories and a system/game that is their version of a replacement or an 'improvement' yet its actually just hurting the series and the growth of both itself and the fanbase.
Halo doesnt need to impress all these new ppl it just needs to impress the core fans- if new ppl see that those type of players are impressed it would spread like the clap- in a good way

Never seen a man happier to see a bridge is still structurally sound. Also UA-cam is out of control with these short adds. I’m getting them ever 3 minutes. I fookin opted out of my red account and was going to get it again until I realized I was grandfathered in to a cheaper rate. Way overpriced. The best H2 content as always. dude ur expressions with extended brute shot ammo, spike grenades, and alot of other things...i was jus done but honestly best part that bungie shouldve never let go of was the warthog run....jus to keep in line with CE and 3
idk if it really needed that much more time, Bungie was already overtly ambitious, that had so much story, dialogue, missions planned. Much of what we see here could've been cut to make space, they were trying to fit the game on a cd for the OG xbox.
This is a good point, still having this restored is one of the best games I’ve ever played if not the best.

It's not truly finished until they add the cut original ending. Which was about an extra 3 missions. They could use AI for the voicing. I've managed to turn H3 Truth voice to his original H2 voice.

At 21:00, that sound is tied to the passing covenant assault carrier in the background, allthough its not meant to keep repeating the start of the audio, might be bugged.
wow! Bungie did need more time , Halo 2 would of been beyond legendary status with all this content they didnt input.

8:45:37 Bro looked away for a single second and it was gone. Somewhere between when he scoped in and out of the beam rifle a new Flood enemy called The Houdini came around and made it vanish.
I'm a little confused. He said that the guy who made this didn't add anything and only made the game that bungie wanted to make, but that can't be true. Otherwise there would've been a level on the Covenant capital ship at the beginning instead of the bomb cutscene, there would've been the forerunner ship scene escaping from the grave minds tentacles, etc. Obviously I know that making entire levels would be a lot harder, but he didn't make the campaign exactly the way bungie wanted it to be played.

The copyrighted music (Blow Me Away), did you change it in post or is it actually changed in the mod?
I had to go through and change it in post, I still have the original but UA-cam is stupid with that one. I don’t understand because anything in games is fair use, it’s just a gray area it seems.

Also jerv, i heard 343 talked about restoring entire cut missions and releasing some models but who knows whenever or if that will happen. iirc there was 4 or 5 missions they had to cut

Yeah apologies on that, I have a constant battle with sound volume, it’s actually stupid that the game volume changes based on if you play on pc of Xbox or if you play solo of co-op. I try to keep things as balanced as possible.

@@ThePilleroflightninghe’s waited until it was complete to play it. This guy is the one who beat the game all skulls on/ legendary/ deathless and he is the first and only person to do so. He also has speed runs of H2. He’s plays the game so much and he is excited to see all new enemies/ Map differences/ new dialogue.

They think it's on heroic cause you survived a jackal sniper, but vanilla gameplay you also die in 1 shot on heroic, I'm pretty sure.
Go to the run start u can see from the menu that’s it’s on legendary lol, this is halo 2 uncut not standard h2, this mod of the game has a bunch more enemies then the original and thus damage has been scaled accordingly

I wanted to like this mod but it doesnt change much in terms of adding content back in. For example, there was supposed to be a whole mission where you planted the bomb on the covenant ship after Cairo. I know itd be a lot to add a whole level and keep it faithful to something that doesn't exist, but it still would've been cool if they tried that idea out for this mod.
It would be hard to do so, and plus new cutscenes I would imagine would be impossible for mod creators to do with the exact same concept Bungie wanted.
It’s unfortunate cus I agree with you. I’d love new custom missions for halo mods but it’s understandable. They just have assets
As much as I would love that level to be made, it’s never seeing the light of day. It’s far beyond the reaches of what modders can do. The Ship Level was never made. It was just an idea that was scrapped early. No script was made, no dialogue recorded, no coding was made on it, etc.
We only know of it because Bungie themselves said that they had the idea of that level, but had to scrap it due to time constraints.

Why couldn't they have added the uncut missions as well
Probably cus they weren’t really made, and just storyboard concepts and ideas Bungie wanted. But they had to scrap it so we only have their “word” that these were missions were thought about. And then having no cutscenes would be jarring.
Because they were just concepts, they were never built into the game. This mod restores the known cut content that actually existed in the game at some point.
