      I actually thought about taking all my videos down, as stopped quilting with my husbands health battle. But now I am considering picking it back up so I am glad that I didnt take it down. Maybe I'll film some good ones someday. I have a much better camera for sure!

    Oh my gosh! What a wonderful tip about the repeats and buying a regular quarter yard vs fat quarter! I never thought about it before and would have been extremely frustrated and disappointed to start a piecing project and find I didn't have enough of the design part I wanted to make a complete piece. Yippee thank you!

    Oooooh, man! I've been fussy cutting from the front, thread basting paper, and not having near as much fun as you have had! Thank you so much for this new way of looking at the process. Note to self: check the back of the print purchase...

    Thanks for this terrific how to! I really enjoyed the clarity and fun of your process, and the loads of other tips and tricks- to see the fabric in it's component parts, while imagining the fabric going back together in totally different ways, use very sharp scissors, starch the fabric for clean lines as you fold. Can't wait to see what else you have on offer!

    The colors really caught my eye and I had to check out your video. So, even though I don't sew, I'm going to do the same thing but out of printed paper and glue them down on a back ground. Thank you for your time to show this to us all!

    Wouldn't be easier to use some kind of transparent or semi transparent paper?

    • @hillbillyhandiworks
      @hillbillyhandiworks  9 років тому +3

      Often people like to use the plastic templates. Then you can actually mark spots on the template to line it up each time.
      I don't have a bit of problem just using the paper pieces I sew with, but some might like to see it better.
      You could use vellum I bet.

    Awesome pattern. probably a beginner question. how do you sew them together and what happens to the paper?
    Ann

    • @hillbillyhandiworks
      @hillbillyhandiworks  10 років тому

      Hi Ann!
      I am sorry I didn't show the "How" because of the other videos out there but I sure need to. Sadly my filming is at a halt lately because my husband keeps ending up in the hospital!
      Anyway, I would watch the video by Sue Daley that teaches HOW to paper piece. All one does is place them right sides together and whipstitch with a size 11 milliner. I prefer using Super Bobs thread..both the needles and the thread are available in my webstore.
      As for the papers, when you are all finished..as long as they are sewn on ALL sides, the papers can be just popped out! I'll try to video that soon :)

    Hi. I know I'm late to the party on this but I just found your videos. They have been so informative. I have been EPPing for a while now but discovered new notions, tips, and techniques with your videos. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
    Would you mind letting me know where you obtained the mat (with the zipper pouches) that is on your work surface in this video? I'd love to find out where to get one (or make it if it's a pattern). Thank you.

      @hillbillyhandiworks  7 років тому

      Copper Buttons I am trying to get back into my EPP game since a lot of life left me struggling to find sewing time. So maybe I'll make some. More videos eventually but that life thing is still in the way for now.
      As for my mat...I've asked three different people to take my design and please make some for me to sell and after making the first, no one ever will !!
      It's highly frustrating. I think I have a good design there. I personally love mine. Soooo... maybe I should pursue that again too??

    • @copperbuttons7376
      @copperbuttons7376 7 років тому +1

      Thank you for your reply.
      It is a pain when life gets in the way (but we have loved ones and we all want to eat and have a roof over our heads) but sometimes sewing is important so that we can relax and regroup. I hope you are able to fit some sewing into your life again soon I love your videos but I understand they take time too.
      I love the design for the mat. For me it would be great for crafting (such as EPP, adult coloring-great pouches to hold the pencils while coloring) but others might use it for children to play on at a table while storing their small toys etc. I hope you decide to pursue it again in some way. Maybe make the pattern available to sell if you can't get anyone to make them for you.

      synthia l Gerritson I made this video a long time ago just as a person wanting to show my method, share it with my friends. I had NO idea how popular it would get, but in spite of the low budget, many have told me it really inspired them! If you will go to my channel, the newest video shows the same method., better lighting. Thank you.
