I think he also lost because, lets be honest here, just because Deku was under stress and thought that he must continue fighting, I dont think he would've hurt his friends to get to that goal. So I think, in that battle, Deku held back a bit to make sure his friends don't get too injured.
Then again think about since it nexu can't fight that doesn't mean he's weak. He has his IQ to make up for that physical weakness so deku beating nezu is probably IQ wise and not physically. Hope that clears that up for those wondering😁

I mean, he has a quirk that can potentially give him 7 other quirks I think, he has black whip currently. (Never read the manga but have watched the anime until season 4 then got spoilers of season 5). He is stronger than class 1-A for sure, half the people only have a quirk that barely does anything in a fight. And with the others such as Bakugou, Todoroki, etc. He can probably, at most, beat half those people. The league, he is definitely stronger than Toga for sure, the others I don't know, but he may can beat them too. The pro heroes he can beat at most 3-6, I think depending on who he fights. All might and Izuku have the same quirk so their both technically equal. So, just because he is the "main character" doesn't mean he beats EVERYBODY, he just has a huge advantage and may be able to be them all.
