The name of the band 'Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas' is, in fact, based on the movie 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'...but it has nothing to do with the storyline of the movie. They just chose the name ( almost ) everyone is familiar with...or so I read. :)
yes, the band name is based on the movie name, once the ex-guitarist called a CD store to reserve a copy and he said "do you have Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas?" and the employee responded "i don't have a band with such a name", so that's what inspired him to put this name to the band
As a fan of FaLiLV since 2012, I'll correct you for this one. At some point in 2008, bands during that time were hopping on to the trend of naming themselves after a movie so for this case, one of themembers of the Falilv decided to take in Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas (take note of the comma or this band would have faced some legal issues if they didn't put it in lol) as their offical name. The one you're referring is when Sxun (ex-lead guitarist of Falilv) asked for a copy of his band's new cd (i think this was New Sunrise album) but due to the unusual name of such, he got a response of "I've never heard of such band before." If I’m remembering correctly, the bands name was chosen by their ex guitarist (Sxun). Apparently he chose it because other bands were using film titles as their band names, and I believe the clean singer (So) uses something called vocoder.
My third favorite band. Love the scream range of Minami Yep, So use autotune but in a good way this fit so well. And yeah he can sing, but always use the vocoder Taiki and his multiple suits Tomonori and his stamina Ex; Sxun. The mind behind the band and i enyojed the duo with Taiki Ex; Kei. They are SUPER different in terms of style. "Let me Hear" probably their most well known song is actually like 4 songs in one. I love their energy though.

So, I enjoy this band, and it definitely requires some getting used to the auto-tune/vocaloid. One thing you said though, that "he can actually sing because he's hitting those lows..." Just wanted to point out, different singers. The auto-tuned guy only sings in that style. The low tunes and screams come from the keyboardist. Totally different people.

And Minami the screamer actually sings/screams in his 100 % natural voice. :O Um, if...you are still into them, may I suggest that you react to Thunderclap and/or Virtue and Vice or...if you are into anime, Keep the Heat and Fire Yourself Up the intro they did for an anime show where the story's set in the old time China ? ( Minami was also asked to try it but...he outright refused. Said it was just...not his style. ) ^_^
From what i know, most singers use autotune (pitch correction tools) in studio recording, but what So using is extreme effect that nowadays called "t-paining style" that make his vocal robotic (or maybe he use vocoder for that effect? I'm not sure). I'm not sure if scream vocal need autotune too, but minami's scream has pitch level (which is amazing!), maybe he use it, or maybe not....not sure..
