I was just diagnosed age 50 stage 1 ducal carcinoma invasive breast cancer I had a lumpectomy 11 years ago and it has come back same side I'm terrified has anyone else had this
Not true for all types, and there will always be some breast tissue left. They're finding more and more that mastectomies do not prevent recurrences for women with TNBC, which is what I had. I did 43 cycles of chemo, a lumpectomy, immunotherapy, and radiation. It hadn't spread to my nodes. I'm exhausted but was able to keep my own breasts. They told me women want double mastectomies because they're afraid. If someone has the mutation and wants to keep their breasts, they can, and they will get more frequent mammograms. Do the research before getting a mastectomy.

I hope you’re alright, stay strong
I think radical mastectomy is the best thing, just so you don't worry for the rest of your life.
