Stottlemeyer is the only one who saw Monk collapse after Trudy's death. He understands more deeply than the others how Monk can collapse whenever Trudy is involved. And it shows, he is way more gentle and apprehensive.
@@jwill5892stotlemeyer was supposed to be stern tough but Ted knew that Leland & monk had a complex relationship so he worked with the writers to make him more considerate and patient with monk and humor 😊😂Randy 😁
He IS broken 😢😢 This show/Series wrapped up better than most tho. We get so invested in these characters over the 7 or 8 years this show ran. Happy with how each main character ended up, they all grew throughout the show. Even Randy ended up with a surprising end to his story 😄 (won't SPOIL the ending if you haven't watched it yet)
It broke ME. And it broke me again. And it felt *good* - one of the most cathartic things I've ever felt, at least in a long time, to release and feel like I have a chance to start again. 😢😞🙂
This was THE worst thing thing that could have happened to Monk. Reliving his wife's death. I still remember the heartbreak on his face from seeing her for the first time to her dying in his arms.
The scene at 9:38 always makes me cry. For the man who loved his wife more than life itself. Who virtually shut down after she was murdered and died in his arms. For him to have someone who looks like an identical twin to to do that all over again, the expression on Monk's face and writing in so much pain it's understandable. To have to go through it again like this was more than he could take. Another scene later in this episode Natalie asked how he knew it wasn't her and he answered when he visited the cemetery, it still hurt. The hurt is never wrong.
Everyone except Stottlemeyer upset me in this episode, its like no one knew nor cared what would happen to Monk if he thought she was still alive and how it would effect him if she wasnt.
They had plenty of actors lined up to play Monk like John Ritter, Stanley Tucci, Michael Richards, and more, but only Tony Shaloub could be Adrian Monk
This was a hard episode that really shook Monk to the core. He was moving forward and this took him back to the start. It made him question everything he ever knew about Trudy’s death. The worse part about this is that he had endure Trudy’s death in person, a second time. This was a good episode that showed Monk even though he was effect by the appearance of the look alike Trudy, was able to push forward and finish the case.
I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know the tune that plays when Dr Kruger idiotically says to Adrian that Trudy might be in trouble? It's like we're inside Adrian's guts in that moment and it doesn't sound like anything in the series up to that point. Something new is happening to him and it's really, really intense and really really dark and really, truly beautiful. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and where I may find it, my writer heart is in massive debt to you. Tony deserves his own category in every fucking award show in the business. No one is as beautiful as him.
Going through her death twice cauterized the gaping wound of not being with her the first time she died. In a way, it gave him a closure to that time in his life.
When the fake Trudy dies in Monk’s arms and she says she’ll tell Trudy he loves her, oh my heart hurts so much.😭 Also, Randy definitely was being a child/overstepping his boundaries here.😑
@@ChiNguyen-ze8oq He was doing things without getting permission from Stottlemeyer that would also be insensitive like tapping Trudy’s parents phone and trying to get Trudy’s body exhumed.
@@ChiNguyen-ze8oq There are some things you have to clear first with superiors as well as need judges to sign off on, so rushing in without proper evidence can bite you later.😕 Also, Stottlemeyer was thinking about Monk’s own emotional state, so having them exhume Trudy’s body would most likely have devastated him more, whether Trudy was in the coffin or not.😢
It was a cruel twist. Monk having to say goodbye again was heartbreaking and when he said how he went back to Trudy’s grave and that’s how he knew, because it hurt I also really liked Captain Stottlemeyer in this episode, he was the one of the only ones who knew Monk getting too close to this case and being told Trudy was alive would hurt him that’s why he kept trying to stay away. He’s a very good friend to Monk
What a horribly sad episode. Monk was doing so well. The woman was in over her head and monk... i mean, you would think that stotylmeyer and monk seeing her alive still after the car bomb and watching her die would be enough
If I remember correctly the woman was an actress hired by someone to get the key. She tells Monk later before she dies that things got out of her control and she never wanted to hurt him.
This episode destroyed me cuzz I really started to believe Trudy was alive and then the pole scene and the pain in his eyess when she died on his armss and having to relive that twice!!!!!! Despicable!!!!!!!😭😭
Que triste este capitulo. No me acordaba de el. Terrible para MONK QUE AMaba tanto a su esposa. Creo que sintió que la volvia a perder. Saludos desde Argentina!!!😚😚😚
This episode was an example of the show jumping the shark just to make Monk suffer. I mean, that's every episode, isn't it? Monk makes slight progress only to return to square one at the very end.
That's the problem with most serial TV shows. Nowadays it's changing because of the popularity of shows like Game of Thrones, Mr. Robot, etc. that have progressive storylines, but during this era pretty much a majority of TV protagonists constantly had character progression then immediately regressed. I think the main reason was to try and keep shows running for as long as possible, and that the showrunners never actually had endings in mind when making their shows.
@@Profile__1 Just slight correction. The popularity of progressive storyline started with Lost and Prison Break. Not sure which was first (lazy to check).
No, the last show was very redemptive in the end. Monk found Trudy's killer & her daughter. Monk established a whole new relationship with Trudy's blood. Turned out to be very healing for Monk & brought the closure he so desperately needed...
