When OTH began it was always supposed to be Peyton and Lucas but because of the chemistry with Chad and Sophia Mark made Brucas a thing but as you seen in the show he kept pushing little scenes of Leyton because ultimately it was Peyton and Lucas and he felt once Chad and Sophia got divorced there was no point in keeping Brucas a couple.
