That's what I do really, I don't care too much for what's super meta atm, I just invest my G-mats into whatever unit I like the most. FW Godzilla was my first lvl 30 due to that, lol.
Dest alt version is also really good if you combo him with the chibis, they distract like crazy and he can use his variable slicer and dice up the enemy

Funny how you mention everyone has GMK Godzilla out. I actually got my first GMK Godzilla from the daily shop today.
